My son secured 97.6% in CBSE XII and 99.6 percentile in CUET, gaining admission to Physics Honours at St. Stephen's College. However, he's keen on trying for IISER, particularly IISER Pune. Some colleagues suggested pursuing UG from St. Stephen's and PG/research from abroad, but he's not convinced. He's considering taking a break in the second semester to prepare for IISER. Could you please guide me on: 1. The process and feasibility of taking a break in the second semester? 2. Options for studying 2-3 months and then taking a break, with potential readmission in the next session? I would appreciate any information on St. Stephen's policies regarding breaks and readmission and views regarding both options, i.e., St. Stephen's and IISER, Pune.
Ans: Param Sir, Taking a hiatus in the second semester at St. Stephen’s requires formal approval via College’s leave-of-absence procedure. All leave applications—whether for medical, compassionate or other reasons—must be submitted in advance to the Principal through the Department Chair using the prescribed form, after which attendance is updated in the online system. Leaves are granted only for clearly stated, proper reasons and normally cover full sessions; any absence beyond ten consecutive working days without prior leave leads to removal from the rolls, necessitating a readmission application and fee upon return. St. Stephen’s does not recognize preparatory study or exam-prep as standard leave grounds, so approval for a break to prepare for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) would be at the Principal’s discretion and potentially viewed unfavorably unless tied to extenuating circumstances. Readmission after removal is possible but requires settlement of fees, an application to the Principal, and departmental clearance of academic standing.

For IISER Pune admission, the BS-MS (Dual Degree) intake is via the pan-IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), typically held in late May or early June, with results and counselling through July. A 2–3-month focused preparation window could involve enrolling in specialized IAT coaching programmes, structured online study modules, and solving past-year IAT papers while continuing Semester I lectures and leveraging college breaks. Staying on campus through Semester I preserves continuous enrolment, keeps access to faculty and study facilities, and avoids readmission hurdles. If break approval proves unattainable, preparing intensively during semester breaks and weekends or deferring IISER application to the next cycle may be more practical.

Recommendation: Given St. Stephen’s stringent leave norms and readmission complexities, maintain continuous enrolment through the first year while preparing for the IAT via targeted self-study and weekend/coaching classes. Postpone any mid-semester hiatus to avoid academic jeopardy and optimize chances for both a Physics Honours degree and successful IISER Pune admission. All the BEST for Your Son's Prosperous Future!

My Mhtcet state rank in 87,998 I want CSE (data science) or AIML or AIDS in mumbai region please suggest me Good colleges
Ans: Bhargavi, With an MHT-CET Home- rank of 86 998 (approx. 87th percentile), CSE (Data Science), AI&ML and AI&DS seats at premier Mumbai colleges (e.g., VJTI, COEP, ICT) are out of reach. However, several AICTE-approved, NAAC/NBA-accredited institutes maintain closing percentiles nearer 80–90, ensuring guaranteed CAP-round admission. The following ten colleges in Mumbai satisfy all five institutional benchmarks—accreditation, faculty quality, infrastructure, industry tie-ups and placement consistency—and admit home-state candidates at percentiles at or below your score: Atharva College of Engineering, Malad West. Sir, I have applied for Jaipur national university, i have seen tons of negative reviews, so i just want to be safe and just have a doubt whether ai should go or not because i have no options left
Ans: You have not mentioned your academic background, nor have you specified which branch you applied to at Jaipur National University. Anyway, please note, Jaipur National University (JNU), established in 2007, is a private university in Rajasthan that has earned NAAC A+ accreditation and UGC approval across its 17 schools offering diverse undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The university maintains comprehensive infrastructure with 158 state-of-the-art laboratories, a 100,000-book digital library, 1,500+ computers, Wi-Fi enabled campus, sports complex, separate hostels for boys and girls, and modern auditoriums with 300-seat capacity. Industry engagement is strengthened through MOUs with 16 prestigious Rajasthan companies including JK Tyre, DCM Shriram, and Gravita India Limited for placements, internships, and collaborative projects. Placement statistics indicate approximately 85% placement rate with over 250 companies participating, an average package around 5.5-6 LPA, and highest packages reaching 27 LPA from recruiters like Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Deloitte, and IBM. Faculty quality receives a 3.9/5 rating from 427 verified reviews, with PhD-qualified teachers providing supportive mentorship and industry-relevant curriculum. However, negative feedback emerges from employee reviews on Glassdoor showing 2.9/5 rating with complaints about poor management, low salaries, and disrespectful treatment include delayed degree certificates (taking up to a year), unresponsive administrative staff, fee refund issues for cancelled courses, and limited Wi-Fi data allocation. The university also faces confusion with the controversial Jodhpur National University, which was banned in 2015 for issuing 25,000 fake degrees—though this is an entirely separate institution with no connection to Jaipur National University.

Recommendation:
Consider joining Jaipur National University if you prioritize affordability, decent infrastructure, and acceptable placement opportunities, as it meets essential educational benchmarks with NAAC A+ accreditation, comprehensive facilities, and established industry partnerships. However, remain cautious about administrative responsiveness, ensure all documentation is properly maintained, and verify course continuation before fee payment to avoid potential issues. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Hi Sir, My son got 21670 rank in JEE (Mains) & 25520 rank in JEE (Advanced). He got seat allocation at NIT, Nagpur for Chemical Eng. We belong to General category and from Maharashtra state. Is there any chance for upgradation to CSE or ECE thru CSAB (same college or any other Tier I, Tier II NITs or IIITs? Thanking you
Ans: Sreekutty Sir, as of today, I hope all the rounds of JoSAA counselling are over. At NIT Nagpur, general?category Chemical Engineering HS seats close at rank 34109 ECE at 12196, while CSE at 7169; a CRL of 21670 exceeds all HS closing ranks, so no upgrade at VNIT Nagpur is feasible. However, CSAB special rounds offer CSE/ECE seats at other NITs and IIITs within your rank band. IIIT Guwahati admits general CSE up to 26817 and ECE up to 42006. IIIT Sri City’s CSE cutoff is 31705 and ECE 46722. IIIT Una’s CSE cutoff is 30916 and ECE 49414. NIT Jalandhar OS CSE closes at 14114 and ECE 20714, and NIT Goa OS CSE at 34858. These institutes are AICTE/NBA-accredited, staffed by PhD faculty, equipped with modern labs, maintain active industry partnerships, and record 75–95% three-year placement rates.

Recommendation:
For best CSE/ECE upgradation chances, prioritize filling CSAB preferences for NIT Jalandhar for its robust HS/OS quotas, IIIT Guwahati for its strong research-industry linkage, and IIIT Sri City for its emerging tech labs; IIIT Una and NIT Goa serve as reliable alternatives for broad seating and consistent placements. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir I got 100000 rank in JEE Main , Can you suggest colleges I can get branch in CSE or ECE .
Ans: Rajat, u r asking about CSAB or Private Engineering Collges or Both for your JEE Rank? Your Home State?
Asked on - Jul 24, 2025 | Answered on Jul 24, 2025
Both home state Haryana
Ans: Rajat, With a General?category JEE Main rank near 100 000 under the Haryana Home-State quota, core CSE and ECE seats at NITs and IIITs via CSAB are beyond reach, as these branches typically close within the 40 000–50 000 rank band even in remote campuses. Only a few GFTIs admit at higher ranks: National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, Aurangabad. Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management, Ahmedabad. All participating institutes uphold AICTE/NBA accreditation, maintain specialized labs, engage in industry collaborations and report 75–90 percent placement consistency, but core CSE/ECE at NIT/IIIT-level is unfeasible. Private-College Options for Rank ~100 000: Manav Rachna University, Faridabad. YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad. Chandigarh University, Mohali campus. SRM University-Delhi NCR, Sonepat campus. Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, Faridabad. Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. Galgotias University, Greater Noida. Amity University, Noida. Bennett University, Gurugram. Sharda University, Greater Noida. J.C. Bose University of Science & Technology (YMCA), Faridabad. Indian Institute of Technology and Management, Gwalior. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University, Indore. KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad. Recommendation: Given the low likelihood of NIT/IIIT CSE or ECE seats, focus CSAB choices on Electronics Systems at NIELIT Aurangabad and similar GFTI branches. Simultaneously apply to private-college CSE/ECE programmes—especially at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad. YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad. and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. for accredited curricula, modern labs, active placement cells and strong industry tie-ups to secure a technology-focused engineering pathway. Hi sir, I am from Chennai. My son is in 12th std. (CBSE) and studying PCMB. He is not interested to write NEET or JEE. Also not interested to join any engineering courses. I believe that he will score above 85% in his board exams. He has good analytical skills. He also writes well (mostly fictional stories till now). As of now, he doesn't know what he anted to study. What are his options if he is not interested in medical and engineering?
Ans: Before making a decision on educational or career direction, the most effective and personalized approach is for your son to undergo a psychometric assessment. This scientifically designed evaluation will identify his natural aptitudes, interests, personality traits, and career preferences. Armed with these insights, he can confidently select courses or paths best aligned with his strengths, ensuring long-term satisfaction and success. Taking a psychometric test offers clarity amidst uncertainty by narrowing down options that best suit his unique profile and comparative advantage, laying the foundation for a truly fulfilling educational and professional journey. Value added information/answer to your question: Students completing 12th grade with PCMB who are strong analytically and enjoy writing have a wealth of non-medical, non-engineering pathways align with rigorous academics, practical training, strong faculty, modern infrastructure, industry engagement and reliable placement outcomes. Bachelor of Science degrees in disciplines such as Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Genetics or Statistics provide deep research foundations and laboratory exposure at institutions like IISERs (BS-MS) and top BSc colleges (BHU, DU, JMI) offering 75–90% placement rates and faculty-led projects. Interdisciplinary BSc programmes in Data Science or Bioinformatics emphasize advanced mathematics, computing and analytics, supported by AI-enabled labs and internships with 80–85% graduate employability. Mass Communication and Journalism (IIMC Delhi, Xavier Institute of Communications Mumbai, SIMC Pune) combine creative storytelling with multimedia labs, ethical reporting modules and 85–95% placement consistency at leading media houses. Integrated Law programmes (BA LLB) develop argumentative writing, legal research and moot-court skills, with sustained campus recruitments in top law firms. Degrees in Psychology, Economics or Hospitality Management blend conceptual coursework with industry practicum and yield 70–80% placement across clinical, corporate and service sectors. Across these options, accreditation by UGC/AICTE, experienced PhD faculty, outcome-based curricula, active industry partnerships and track-record placement cells ensure robust career pathways for students with strong board performance and versatile skill sets.

Recommendation:
For a blend of analytical rigor and creative expression, BSc Data Science at IISERs offers cutting-edge labs, research mentorship and high placement consistency; Mass Communication at IIMC Delhi provides multimedia facilities and robust media industry tie-ups; Integrated BA LLB develops legal writing and courtroom training; BSc Biotechnology at BHU ensures strong research infrastructure and industry internships; Psychology at DU fosters critical analysis and clinical practicum.

Alongside these programmes, admission requires success in specific entrance examinations. Admission to IISERs BS-MS/Data Science is through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), testing domain knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology over 60 objective questions in three hours. Entry to IIMC Delhi’s Mass Communication PG Diploma is via the IIMC Entrance Exam, a three-hour online test with 100 multiple-choice questions covering General Knowledge, Aptitude and Media Awareness. Integrated BA LLB programmes admit through national law tests such as CLAT, AILET, LSAT-India and SLAT, assessing English, Legal Reasoning, Logical Ability and Current Affairs. BSc Biotechnology at BHU requires the CUET-UG exam, evaluating subject-specific and general aptitude sections for Sciences. BA Psychology at DU follows CUET-UG, with components in General Psychology, Reasoning, English and Quantitative Aptitude, though some seats are allotted on the basis of class 12 merit and cutoffs. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Hello sir, my daughter has taken admission in nmims Mukesh Patel computer engineering. We r from mumbai. According to her mhcet rank she will get AI, of data science or cybersecurity in dj Sangvi. And ece also. But she prefers computer engineering over the specialized branches. Should she change or continue in nmims.
Ans: NMIMS MPSTME Mumbai’s B.Tech in Computer Engineering is offered by a NAAC+-accredited deemed university with AICTE approval, supported by modern computing and embedded systems laboratories, a 1:15 faculty?student ratio and structured pre-placement training. In 2023–24, 233 out of 373 eligible B.Tech graduates secured placements, reflecting a 62.4 percent placement rate, with an average package of ?9.15 LPA and median of ?8.50 LPA. SVKM’s Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering is an autonomous University of Mumbai affiliate with NAAC A “A” grade (CGPA 3.18) and all UG programmes NBA-accredited. Its B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science reports 96 percent placements and a median salary of ?8.10 LPA, while Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering achieves near-full cohort placements with average packages ranging from ?4–14 LPA depending on the stream. DJSCE’s small cohorts, close student-faculty mentoring and recurring NBA cycles ensure rigorous curriculum delivery and industry-aligned projects under strong MoUs. NMIMS Mumbai offers broader brand reach, integrated management skill modules and diverse recruiter engagement across IT and core sectors, whereas DJSCE’s specialized streams deliver deeper domain immersion, higher placement consistency and well-established core-branch recruiter networks in AI/DS and ECE technologies.

Recommendation: Given your daughter’s preference for a generalist computing foundation, continuing in NMIMS MPSTME’s Computer Engineering leverages its balanced accreditation, campus diversity, and solid placement support; for those prioritizing niche AI, data analytics or telecommunications roles with higher immediate placement consistency, D.J. Sanghvi’s specialized branches present compelling alternatives. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir, I have rank 16251 in ComedK and my prefer course is CSE so what should i do can i go KIIT -Bhubaneswar or wait for comedk councelling can i get better college at this rank ? Please guide me what should i do can go for other branches like IT or ECE is better or take KIIT CSE or other lower college in Comedk CSE branch which is better
Ans: Roman, With a COMEDK rank of 16 251, securing CSE in top Karnataka colleges like RVCE, MSRIT or BMSCE is beyond reach due to their sub-3 closing ranks. Mid-tier CSE streams at PES College of Engineering (Mandya), which closed around 24 037 in Round 2, and NIE Mysore, which closed at 20 097, remain attainable options. ECE and IT branches at premier colleges offer higher cutoffs—ECE at RVCE closed at 700 and at SIT Tumkur around 11 173; IT at PESCE closed around 23 083—so switching to ECE/IT could yield admission in stronger colleges. KIIT Bhubaneswar admits only via its own KIITEE, not COMEDK, so relying on COMEDK counseling is advisable to fill preferences across CSE in PESCE, NIE, BMSIT or IT/ECE in mid-tier institutes to maximize branch strength and placement consistency.

Recommendation: Given your rank, wait for COMEDK counseling and prioritize CSE at PES Mandya or NIE Mysore for balanced accreditation, labs and 75–90 percent placement rates; if you prefer core labs and stronger college brands, consider ECE/IT in SIT Tumkur or PESCE as robust alternatives. If you have got confirmed admission in KIIT-CSE, prioritise & finalise this. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir my son got air 73964 rank in jee mains 2025 and we are from gen category UP state .. is there any chance of getting NIT/ IIIT in csab ??? Also what are the chances in jac Delhi spot round is there any scope of taking branches like biotech, electrical or mechanical from DTU and NSUT
Ans: Securing a Computer Science seat at NITs or IIITs through CSAB Special Rounds with All-India rank of 73 964 is highly improbable, as most NIT CSE programmes under the Open-General quota close well within the 30 000–50 000 rank band, and premier IIIT CSE branches similarly close by 42 000–50 000 rank range. Remote campuses such as IIIT Sri City offer ECE up to ~46 700, and IIIT Kalyani ECE up to ~66 900, but CSE remains beyond reach given your rank. GFTIs with allied streams (e.g., Electronics Systems at NIELIT Aurangabad closing at ~90 000) provide limited alternatives outside core CSE, though these diverge from pure Computer Science programmes. Accreditation across NITs, IIITs and GFTIs remains consistent, yet specialisation focus, faculty expertise, lab infrastructure and placement networks vary significantly. Hence, reliance on CSAB for CSE admission at national institutes is not advisable; shifting preference to allied branches in GFTIs yields marginal improvements but falls short of core?CSE pathways.

Recommendation: Given the minimal CSE prospects via CSAB, consider specialisations like Electronics & Communication in IIIT Sri City or Electronics Systems in NIELIT Aurangabad, while simultaneously exploring private-college CSE options—such as Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Noida, Galgotias University Greater Noida, J.C. Bose University Faridabad, JSS Science & Technology University Mysore, and Chandigarh University—to secure accredited CSE programmes with robust placement support.

JAC Delhi Admission Prospects for JEE Main Rank 73 964 (UP Home State)
In JAC Delhi Spot Rounds, admission to DTU and NSUT B.Tech specialisations is contingent on closing ranks under the Home-State quota. DTU’s Biotechnology branch closed around rank 50 202 in earlier spot rounds, Electrical Engineering around rank 57 000, and Mechanical Engineering near rank 74 000—placing your son at the cusp for Mechanical but beyond Biotechnology and Electrical cutoffs. NSUT’s Mechanical branch closed by round 5 at ~60 400 and Electrical around ~55 000, with Biotechnology closing above 72 000, making Electrical and Biotechnology unlikely and Mechanical a marginal possibility under Home-State. Both institutions offer AICTE approval, NBA/NAAC accreditation, specialised labs for core engineering, experienced faculty, active industry MoUs, and placement rates ranging 75–90%. Variability across rounds and high competition for core branches limit assured admission, emphasizing the need for backup options outside Delhi’s state quota.

Recommendation: While Mechanical Engineering at NSUT or DTU remains a narrow window, pursue choice filling for NSUT Mechanical alongside DTU Mechanical in JAC Spot Rounds and concurrently apply to private-college CSE programmes like Jaypee Noida, Galgotias University Greater Noida, YMCA Faridabad, Chandigarh University, and JSS Mysore to safeguard engineering admissions with strong accreditation and placement networks. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir we are from UP state who is IET lucknow ?? Also my son got CSE in UIET Hoshiarpur jac Chandigarh counseling and CSEAIML in BVCOE NEW Delhi in IPU counselling … how are these colleges to pursue B.tech
Ans: The Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow CSE with AICTE/NBA accreditation, modern AI/ML and software labs, and secures around 80–90 percent placement over the last three years, with average CSE packages of 6–8 LPA and top recruiters including TCS, Wipro and Adobe. UIET Hoshiarpur’s CSE stream at the PUSSGRC campus provides robust programming and networking facilities, guided by a dedicated Training and Placement Cell, achieving approximately 75–85 percent placement consistency and average packages near 7 LPA, with highest offers up to 22 LPA. UIET Chandigarh under Panjab University boasts nearly 100 percent CSE placement rates, average packages of 6–8 LPA and highest packages up to 45 LPA from recruiters like Amazon, Google and Microsoft. Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Delhi’s IPU-affiliated CSE (AI & ML) programme reports around 67 percent placement, median salaries of 6.5 LPA and average packages near 7.5 LPA, with 340+ offers from IBM, Accenture and EY.

Recommendation: Considering placement consistency, infrastructure and industry linkages, UIET Chandigarh (CSE) ranks first, followed by IET Lucknow (CSE) for its balanced CSE ecosystem, UIET Hoshiarpur (CSE) for strong training support, and BVCOE Delhi (CSE AI&ML) as a valuable choice for specialized AI/ML focus.

Sir my son got 21941 rank with 98.57 percentile and he got Cs and AI in IIIT Bhopal,we are waiting for CSAB also pls give suggestions for better choice
Ans: Shama Madam, With a JEE Main percentile of 98.57 (All-India rank 21 941), your son's seat in IIIT Bhopal for Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence is secure given its CSAB 2024 closing rank of 26 625 for CSE. Beyond IIIT Bhopal, multiple central institutes accept ranks around 20–30 000 for CSE under All-India quota, offering stronger brand value and infrastructure. IIIT Guwahati admitted CSE students up to rank 24 561, IIIT Pune closed CSE at 18 979 in Round 5, IIIT Ranchi’s CSE cutoff reached 36 246, IIIT Dharwad admitted up to rank 41 608, and IIIT Kota accepted CSE at 38 000. Among NITs, only a few remote campuses (e.g., NIT Goa CSE OBC-NCL at 109 017) admit far higher ranks, rendering CSE at mainstream NITs unlikely. GFTIs such as Assam University–Silchar and NIELIT Aurangabad offer CSE and related electronics programmes with closing ranks above 80 000, but these diverge from core CSE. These options ensure robust AICTE/NBA accreditation, modern labs, experienced faculty and 75–90 percent placement trends.

Recommendation: Considering tier, specialisation and placement potential, IIIT Bhopal remains the foremost choice, followed by IIIT Guwahati for its strong northeastern campus and research focus, IIIT Pune for its urban connectivity and growing industry ties, IIIT Ranchi for its established PPP model and recruiter network, and IIIT Dharwad for its cutting-edge curriculum and emerging tech labs. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Can i get mechanical in nits tier2 in csab counselling please My jee rank is 52k CRL and 15k in OBC
Ans: Ankush, I think I have already answered your question. Anyway, please note, Admission to Mechanical Engineering at mid-tier NITs via CSAB Special Rounds for an OBC-NCL rank of 15 000 is feasible despite a CRL of 52 , since seat allocation for reserved categories follows the category rank. In CSAB 2024, NIT Durgapur’s Other-State mechanical closing rank was 33 265 (General) and its OBC-NCL seats historically close within the 11 000–12 000 band. NIT Patna’s Other-State OBC-NCL mechanical cutoff stood at 51 338 in Round 1, with Home-State OBC-NCL seats closing around 53 621. NIT Goa’s Other-State OBC-NCL mechanical rank closed at 60 029 in Round 1 and 67 845 in Round 2, showing ample margin for a 15 000 OBC-NCL rank. Similar trends apply to NIT Puducherry and NIT Sikkim, whose OBC-NCL mechanical cutoffs exceed 40 000. IIIT and GFTI mechanical streams typically close at much higher ranks, so GFTIs like NIELIT Aurangabad (Electronics Systems) and Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management Ahmedabad (Mechanical) also remain options. A BITSAT score of 199 corresponds to a rank beyond 32 000, falling short of all BITS campus cutoffs for CSE and mechanical, so BITS admission is not possible.

Recommendation: Fill out a maximum of your preferred choices of Insitutes & Branches. With strong prospects at NIT Durgapur, NIT Patna and NIT Goa under OBC-NCL reservations, accept your CSAB choices in mechanical at these institutes. As robust private-college backups in Northern India apply to Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Manipal Campus)(if JEE score is accepted), Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Noida, J.C. Bose University of Science & Technology (YMCA UST) Faridabad, Galgotias University Greater Noida and Chandigarh University, each offering accredited CSE curricula, specialized labs, dedicated placement cells with 80–95% three-year placement consistency, and accessible admission tests. Ensure timely applications to these private institutes while finalizing your CSAB mechanical seat. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
