Hello Geeta Madam, I am 47 years old, currently working in a MNC and plan to apply for abroad posts (Manchester, UK) in future. I have 2 children studying in schools with State government syllabus (SSC board). 1st daughter is 11 years old (VII std.) and 2nd daughter is 7 years old (1st Std.). Do you think it will be a wise decision to move to UK, considering my children education? Is the education very expensive ? I have heard there are government schools where children can be enrolled ? Is the education quality good in such schools ? How about cost of education in these schools ? If we have to return after 2-3 years , can my elder daughter still apply for Engg./ Medical course in India ? Also my wife is currently a home maker, can she also have some part time job in Manchester UK ? Please advise. Thanks.
Ans: Hi,
Moving to the UK can offer great opportunities, but there are several factors to consider:

Education: Public schools in the UK are funded by the government and generally offer high-quality education, though there can be variations. Education in state schools is free, but private schools can be costly. Your children can adapt to the UK curriculum, and public schools offer support for international students.

Cost: State education is free, but there might be some costs for uniforms, trips, and extracurricular activities.

Returning to India: Your elder daughter can apply for engineering or medical courses in India after returning, though she may need to adapt to the Indian education system upon her return.

Employment for your wife: Your wife can work part-time in Manchester. The UK has a range of part-time job opportunities, though she would need to check visa and work permit requirements.
Overall, moving to the UK can be a positive experience if well-planned. Consider consulting with an education advisor and an immigration expert to better understand the implications for your family.
