Would suggest that Keshav focus on his course and excelling at it... if he is in the top 10 of his class, the potential placement will not be an issue.

Also working his way upwards through internships (using Internshala or equivalent portals) and securing a permanent job will be a good way as well. He can infact take up internships during his course as well to get into real job practice.

Ans: 1. You may want to review your resume and check if you have the keywords in place - being a content writer I'm sure you'd have taken care of that but revisit it once.
2. You could offer your services as a freelancer to established companies or marketing agencies which you think are relevant to your field. Write to them directly through LinkedIn or even Instagram has lot of posts for content writers.
3. Share your portfolio with recruiters or a video resume on portals to make it more impactful.

Ans: This is the easiest answer. Tell them what your actual expectations are... may be a number if you have it in mind or a %hike. You can always mention that this is a number you have in mind but that can be discussed based on the company budget / role / future prospects / any other perks that add up.

Ans: In case you feel you are not given your due, and that your seniors are making excuses to avoid your growth then the best way is to move out and find your calling where you are valued.

An alternate and slightly tougher option is to have a candid conversation with your manager / skip level on what is required of you to go to the next level and work diligently towards it. If you get convoluted answers you of course have an option to move out and find better options.

Ans: If you are an introvert and wish to stay so, that is fine... every workplace has different personalities and that shouldn't be a reason for others to misunderstand you.

But if you do want to work on that aspect, you can do small exercises to help you work towards extroversion. You can consciously take initiative to speak up with colleagues over lunch or coffee breaks and build rapport with them. Think up a couple of topics in your mind beforehand so that you feel more prepared.

You may connect with freelancers on linkedin who look out for content writers and get work from home option as well. You charge on a per-word or per-page basis and that is how the model works.

I did not really gather your qualifications from your query but assuming you have some technical knowledge (considering you've specified you're working in IT and on bench). Since you specify that you are a metro city person, and your job as well as compensation don't excite you - I would suggest you do not take up the government job since you may not enjoy it in the long run.

Try and find relevant work in your field in another company or speak to your manager about deploying you in some project to keep you engaged and continue the learning. When you scout for a job, focus on what interests you and then apply so that you are not in uncertainty after qualifying.

Ans: When you have interview conversations you can specify what your compensation expectations are - which will clearly let a prospective employer know what salary you are looking for.

Having said that, you have to keep in mind that "market standards" are very loosely defined and you cannot expect a radical rise immediately since the employer will expect to see outcomes before he/she commits to a high salary demand.

My recommendation would be to focus on role & organization that provides learning and growth opportunity. And state your hike expectations clearly and reasonably to land a good position.

As per employment contract both the employer and the employee have the option to terminate the contract with / without any reason whatsover. I understand that while this seems technically sound it impacts one emotionally & professionally. The company may have had business reasons / strategic shift owing to which they may have been forced to take such a decision.

The first piece is to not take it personally or as a reflection of your performance if you have always been a good performer. The second would be to accept the situation and use social media (LinkedIn) and job portals to get moving with your next venture. Experiences - good / bad / ugly - are a part of our professional journeys and the more resilience you develop, the more successful you'll be.

Mulling over the reasons or being bitter toward your ex-employer will only be waste of your energy. So pick yourself up and propel forward

Ans: You already did the right thing by approaching your skip level when you realized that you are not being heard by your manager. In case you are convinced that the culture and management of the company is not suitable for you, the alternative could be to find something that is more apt for your professional growth & temperament.

You can focus on your basketball and sketching skills - hone them to participate at college / zone / state levels and gather some certifications to validate your competencies.

Ans: The fundamental difference is the nature of workforce - corporate HR is about white collared workers / employees and industrial HR is about blue collared workers / employees. The qualifications required to work on either aspects are largely the same.

Ans: It may not pose conflict of interest but it is in good stance to declare it to your current company of any other business interests / ventures you get into. It is not only an ethical practice but a must since irrespective of the nature of business, it is imperative that you let your employer know of any other commercial activities that you are involved in (even if it is pro bono).
