Ans: You have allocation in good funds, however, there are too many funds in the Smallcap category; kindly understand there can be significant overlaps in the funds owing to limitation in the investible universe.
Since you're already following step-up SIP route, you can go for a Flexicap Fund, a Smallcap fund and a Hybrid fund to balance your portfolio.

Ans: Kindly understand that having an aggressive profile doesn't necessarily mean having a lot of Smallcap exposure. When you invest into Equities, your risk profile itself becomes high risk. Currently, you have exposure in 4 Smallcap funds. The entire Smallcap universe has 250 companies, while each well diversified MF has ~ 40-80 companies. Thus, there can be significant overlaps among them, therefore, can trim some exposure. You should also invest in Largecap/Midcap funds. Assuming a return of ~15%, your total corpus by the end of 25 years should be close to 10 crores.

But to answer your query, if you're new to the markets, looking for active fund management, not aware of whys and hows of mutual funds, and most importantly need someone for tackling behavioural bias, go for Regular funds, otherwise you can go for Direct Mutual Funds.

Ans: Thankyou for your question. The fund isn't great, but isn't too bad either. It has ~25% in debt/alternatives, making it a good bet for reducing volatility.
There's no reason to redeem the proceedings as there will be both hinderance to compounding and tax implications. Performance wise, you can start fresh SIP in other better performing Hybrid funds like ICICI Pru Equity & Debt fund or HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund.

Ans: Yes, you can. Just that you can diversify a little.
Obviously your timeframe is long, but having a diversified mix of unrelated assets makes sense.
Also can have a little exposure in Largecaps through Index/Hybrid/Flexicap funds.

Ans: Kindly understand if you redeem, you will have to bear both expenses and taxes as there is no other way. Going through a MFD route has its own advantages and that cannot be ignored. You can reconsider HSBC Midcap Fund and Sundaram Large&Midcap Fund. You don't have expore to Largecap/Hybrid funds currently, can do the same.

REITs tend to give a decent regular income, but can be volatile in short term just like equity. However, equity tends to perform better than other asset classes in the long run. If your investment horizon is less than 5 years, you can consider investing in Flexicap Fund. Smallcaps come with elevated levels of risks, kindly assess your risk profile before plunging.

Now we are assuming Rs. 40,000 monthly requirement is already inflation adjusted, otherwise the requirement will come close to ~Rs. 54,000 on the 6th year (inflation @ 6%).
We suggest you do a monthly SIP of Rs. 25,000 for the next 5 years. You corpus will come close to Rs. 75 lacs, assuming to grow at 12%; you should be able to take out the required monthly instalment for close to 24 years, assuming your investments continue to grow at ~9% yearly with inflation ~5%.

Assuming a 14% return (since returns from the markets aren't linear) henceforth, you're good to go to achieve your crorepati dream, thus, can continue to invest in the same funds your already own. In case you don't have exposure to Midcaps/Smallcaps already, can consider taking exposure in the same, since you have a good time period to invest. However, they come with higher risk.

We really don't know your risk appetite, but considering your age, we believe you should be tweaking your overall portfolio and shift more towards Hybrid and Largecap funds. Currently, you're only into Smallcaps and Sectoral funds, which might not be suitable for you.
You currently invest ~Rs. 8,000 per month and are looking to have a corpus of Rs. 50 lacs in 10 years. Assuming ~12% returns, you can accumulate a corpus of ~ 18 lacs approximately. Ideally you should be investing Rs. 20-25,000 per month to build such a corpus. Happy to help!

Currently, your company is covering your medical expenses, but post retirement this will increase. Kindly understand, each of these funds already own 40-60 companies and since you have funds from the same category, they will be subject to overlaps as well.

I have started investing 6,00,000 per year for a 5 year period in SBI Smart Privilege Plan which is a ULIP plan. First year investment is completed.There is a locking period of 5 years which I am fine with. I have heard that MF is better than ULIPs. But shouldn't we consider the fact that (considering we get 14-15% return) ULIPs maturity amount is tax free as against the MF's? Wouldn't this make the gains almost same for both ULIPs abd MFs at the end of 5 year period?

Ans: We would like to differ and suggest you not to mix insurance with investments. Also, since you're investing Rs. 6 lac per year, your ULIPs will be taxable. Generally ULIPs tend to give 6-9% kind of return, and MFs can give 14-16% kind of return as your rightly mentioned. Therefore, the difference in returns can be massive. Keeping things simple helps!
