Supposedly there is an event of my office on xyz date and I am incharge of handling the crowd. I am not into any groups and I just know people by their names and designation. Now, I am very scared for no reason (maybe managing alone, getting to the venue alone can be the probable reason). I have never encountered such fear before. Please guide

Ans: Hi!! Thank you for reaching out, the first step to overcoming your fear is already done! You asked for help…. kudos to you!! Pat yourself on the back for that.
Now the next step to overcoming fear is by befriending it…. how do you do that? By just doing it, no thinking, just doing, taking action…the example you have taken of the office event, let’s simplify that for you…
1 put everything on paper, break down the tasks into smaller doable chunks and do it
2. check if some of the tasks can be delegated, you need not do everything on your own
3. prepare well, visit the venue a day before, become familiar with the surroundings, there is comfort in this activity, it takes the fear out of being in unfamiliar surroundings
4. get to know your crowd, you know the names and designations, now attach a picture of them along with it, see how you are taking the fear of the unknown and making yourself comfortable here..
And remember someone believes you can handle this, they saw your capability and gave you this activity, just believe in yourself, just do it!! Striving for excellence is in your hands, the result is not in yours. If you get 80% of the job right in this event, then it’s a success, there is nothing called as a perfect event!! All the best????

Hi Anu, I'm 39 years old. Ever since my childhood, I was always afraid of facing people. Was reading in front of class or reciting a poem, I always felt running away and avoiding it. The problem further worsened as I grew up, as I started feeling difficult making friends. I get a feeling that people don't like me, and it’s evident whenever I'm part of a gathering usually peopleignore me. Hence I tend to avoid interacting with people. I don't know how to handle this situation. I don't have this issue while interacting with people whom I know, and am pretty confident with familiar people whom I interact with on day to day basis. In front of people, or when I put on a spot I really feel awkward and anxious. The thought keeps on bothering me and I don't get sleep at times. Please provide me suggestions/inputs on how I can get rid of this problem.
Ans: Dear S, You face what is called performance related stress as you are worried about failure and being embarrassed in front of a crowd.

Firstly, know why you are having to be in front of a crowd; office presentations, meetings and thinks like that. If it is necessary for your job and in life in general, let’s work at this.

Start watching videos of people who are orators, great speakers and who enthrall others on stage

Next, observe every movement of theirs and how they walk, talk, their voice etc.

Then, simply take on the same role imagining yourself to be them and do the same. Live this role. Try doing this many times over till it becomes second nature to you.

Finally, imagine a situation where you want to feel confident. And imagine doing your new learning from Step 3 and living it. Do this a couple of times till you think you are ready.

The next time, with the same situation, things should definitely go your way and you will be in charge for sure.

Be confident and happy new learning!

My friend got 74.6% in 12th cbse board and 63 percentile in jee mains (after a drop year). She is going to pursue IITM BS in data science and application with Btech CSE from any private colleges in indore. She is thinking of taking a non attending college but having second thoughts as btech is itself a major course which will require much more time with efforts. So please suggest if she should go for attending or non attending college in indore.
Ans: Based on comprehensive analysis of AICTE guidelines, academic validity, and practical training requirements, attending a regular BTech CSE program at a recognized private college in Indore is strongly recommended over non-attending/distance options, which are invalid for technical degrees per Supreme Court rulings. While IITM BS Data Science offers flexibility, pursuing it alongside a non-attending BTech risks academic credibility, as distance/online engineering programs lack mandatory lab work, industry exposure, and AICTE recognition, rendering degrees invalid for government jobs or higher studies. Top Indore institutions like LNCT, Acropolis ITR, or Medi-Caps University provide structured curricula, hands-on projects, and placement support (~70-80% placement rates), crucial for skill development despite time commitments. Conversely, juggling IITM BS with a valid BTech demands rigorous time management, but attending colleges allow academic continuity, peer collaboration, and access to campus recruitment—advantages absent in non-attending setups. Given her JEE Main percentile, target mid-tier private colleges with moderate attendance flexibility, ensuring AICTE approval and curriculum alignment with IITM BS coursework. Prioritize institutional credibility over convenience to safeguard career prospects. All the BEST for your Friend's Admission & a Prosperous Future!
