Dear Love Guru,
I like a boy in my class. I am not sure if he likes me as well. But when I smile, he smiles back. At times he comes over and has his lunch with my friends and me. I want to take this ahead but I am not sure what to do? Should I directly speak with him? Or should I wait for him to speak with me? I am scared that he will lose interest in me.

Ans:

Why doubt yourself so much? He smiles at you, lunches with you...Maybe it's time to break the ice and at least start talking to him?

You'll see where the conversations lead and you'll soon know for sure whether he's genuinely interested or not.

And remember to be yourself. You don't have to overtly try and impress anyone, a person should like you for who you are.

Dear Love Guru Offline college has started and, in the very first week, I have really, really liked this boy. I am not a frivolous kind of person and I never thought something like this would happen to me college. We don’t know each other really, we are just classmates. It’s all very awkward for me and my friends can see I like him and they tease me. It will be worse if he comes to know. I cannot discuss this with my family, I don’t want advice from my friends who are my age. Can you tell me what I should do now? Confused
Ans:

It’s just a college crush, my dear…nothing to get so uptight about. It’s normal at your age.

You can tell your friends you don’t want him to know, but so what if he does? Maybe he likes you too or will ask you out?

There’s really no set course to follow in these matters. Just enjoy your college days and years!

Dear Love Guru
This is not exactly a love problem but kind of related.
My ex and my good friend are engaged and it’s left me feeling very awkward.
It’s uncomfortable to see her with him.
I don’t want to give up the group or them because we are all very good friends.
Everyone’s struggling to adapt to the new dynamics and I’m feeling bad.
How do I handle this?

The way you’re feeling is perfectly natural and this situation is more common than you think.

I know of someone who has been in the exact same position as you and he was the bigger person back then.

Today, things are so normal between him and the couple; they’re still good friends and laugh about what was a few years ago.

My point is, what you want to achieve -- a new normal -- is very possible.

Since you’re all within the same group, I’d suggest riding things out. You make an effort to normalise things and they will do the same. The new dynamic will become the norm in time, you’ll see.

Let time take away your discomfort. It will.

Hi. I am female. I got attracted to this male. But it is not that much enough to fall in love. My friends thought that we will make a good pair. They kinda told me that he was in love with me for past one year. Due to the workplace he didnt reciprocate and to the close dates of my resignation due to my friends i told him that we can talk like a friends and we have to go with the flow. As of now we are talking and he is good. But still i am in dilemma. Due to my fear i told him that we wont work out and i stopped the conversation. But after some days he iniated the conversation and started to develop like a general talk. Later i told him that i liked him partially but not fully. He said that he will wait till i become comfortable. I dont have the oppurtunity to go out with him we are completely in chatting only. Sometimes i feel happy to chat with him but sometimes i dont feel anything i just feel numb. This is the first time for me in all the stuff. I told about this to my brother he didnt liked him. He know about my msgs and everything. But sometimes i think that i need better person than him but sometimes i need him. So what should i do?
Ans: Dear Anonymous,

Seems like you are not quite in love with this person. Not everyone experiences love at first sight. Some love stories grow over time. You can try spending some more time with him and see where it goes. But if you are not satisfied with how strongly you feel for him or if you continue to feel that you deserve better, I strongly recommend giving it a thought. You don't want to settle for less out of peer pressure. And it would not be right to drag him and give him hope, especially since he has feelings for you.

There is no need to rush. Take your time. Think about it with a clear mind and make a choice.

Best Wishes.

I am 44 years old, married with a monthly salary of 4.5 lakhs after tax. I own a debt-free house. My daughter is 9 and my son is 4. I am looking to build a corpus of 2 crores for my children's education, 1 crore for their marriages, and to buy two additional houses. I also aim to accumulate a retirement corpus of 10 crores. Please advise on how I can achieve these goals in the next 10-15 years. Current Savings: • Fixed Deposit: 16 lakhs • Shares: 72 lakhs • Provident Fund (PF): 1.4 crores • Mutual Funds: 15 lakhs • Public Provident Fund (PPF): 10.5 lakhs • ULIP: 21 lakhs Ongoing Investments: • ULIP: 3 lakhs/year (for the next 3 years) • PPF: 1.5 lakhs/year (for the next 8 years) • Provident Fund (PF): 82,000/month Including company contribution. • Mutual Fund SIP: 60,000/month • Shares SIP: 30,000/month • Additional Shares Investment: 5 lakhs/year
Ans: Your current savings add upto 2.745 Cr.

Assuming you keep them invested and considering composite moderate return of 8% this will grow upto a sum of 8.71 Cr after 15 years.

Ongoing investments will lead you to a corpus of 6.66 Cr after 15 years(Appropriate conservative returns considering the various investment instruments)

6.66+8.71=15.37 Cr

Retirement corpus goal 10 Cr?
Children education fund goal 2Cr?
Children wedding goal 1Cr?
Additional home(2) buy 2Cr?

Keep reviewing and rationalising your stock holdings and hedge it if necessary as per advice from investment advisor.

Consider SSY in the name of your daughter (8.2% currently with quarterly review by GOI)since it's an E-E-E tax exempt scheme.

Do consider suitable family floater health cover apart employer group coverage.
