Please advise diet programme to maintain blood sugar level within permissible limits.

Ans: To maintain healthy blood sugar levels, follow a balanced diet rich in fiber, lean protein, and low-glycemic carbohydrates, while minimizing added sugars and refined grains. Spread carbs evenly across meals to avoid spikes. Include high fiber from vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes. Lean Protein can be obtained from chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, and legumes to stabilize blood sugar and keep you full. Use olive oil, nuts, seeds, and avocado to support heart health and slow digestion and limit added sugars.

My Fasting Sugar is 128 and what kind of diet can be followed. Also, should I go for medications or just by strict diet could be slow down my sugar count.

Ans: The normal fasting blood sugar level for non-diabetics are between 70 mg/dl and 100 mg/dl. A fasting blood sugar level of 128 mg/dl is indicative of diabetes. An HbA1c blood test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. It's one of the commonly used tests to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes. You can follow a strict dietary regimen which will include complex carbs like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, beans, etc.; adequate protein and low fat foods. Avoid white sugar, brown sugar, jaggary, sugar products such as candies, sweets, payasam, cakes, maple syrup, corn syrup. Concentrated foods like sweets, chocolate cakes, pastries, ice creams and fried foods should be avoided. Adopt a regular exercise schedule.

Hello Mam, I am 69 . Like to have some advice on the daily food intake to control blood sugar without medication. The routine food intake Morning at 6 am 1 glass ajwan seeds water with palm jaggery drink + 1 glass black light coffee. At 9.30 beak fast 2 chappti of mixed flour wheat, flax seeds, little millet with veg curry + 1 or 2 elaichi banana 2 p.m. lunck 2 chappati same combination with veg curry + some non veg fish or small portion of meat + cut mix seasonal fruits such as apple, pappaya, peer, mango etc. 5.30 pm green tea with snaks such as diet chivda/brown bead with butter + half of madras banana. 9.30 p.m. dinner 1 bowl salad (cucumber/tomotto/onion/ dressing olive oil/apple cider venegar filtered + small portion of scrambled egg white + cut mix seasonal fruits such as apple, pappaya, peer, mango etc. Sleep time 11 -11.30 Pls. adv. if any changes required in the food intake and or life style.

Ans: To control blood sugar spikes, avoid having foods with a high glycemic load and glycemic index. Fruits like Banana, mango, pear do have a high glycemic index. Frequent consumption of these fruits in a day will increase the glycemic load. Ensure a regular exercise regime to lower body fat.

Madam,I am 51 years old .I am diabetic for the last 7 years.My weight is 73 and height is 5'2.My HBA1C is 6.5 at present.And fasting sugar is between 100 to 114 and PP ranges between 136 to 150.Presently I am on Jardiance 25 ,half tab in the morning and Tenglyn M 500 after dinner.What should be my diet and how do I reduce my sugar.

Ans: A diet to reduce blood sugar levels should include high fiber and complex carbohydrates like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, beans, pulses, etc. Foods to avoid include simple carbohydrates, which are processed, such as sugar, pasta, white bread, flour, and cookies, pastries, and namkeens. Protein foods should be had in every meal. Starchy or root vegetables should be eaten in moderation along with other fiber rich veggies. High glycemic index foods should be restricted. Adopt regular exercise.

Sir please clarify are iiit better then iit non core for cse?

Ans: For a student focused specifically on software/tech careers, the top IIITs can be better than lower-demand non-core branches at many IITs, but the premier IIT brand/network still outweighs most IIITs unless the IIT branch is a very poor fit for the student’s interests.

Ans: Try ECE at top NITs (Trichy/Warangal/Surathkal/Calicut/Rourkela) and IIIT Allahabad IT/ECE, IIIT Gwalior CSE/IT, MNNIT Allahabad ECE/EE, and MNIT Jaipur ECE/EE, followed by strong fallback options in ECE/EE/CSE at mid-tier NITs/IIITs. However, keep a close eye on the closing ranks of previous years for more accurate predictions, which will be useful when filling the preference order.

We would truly value your guidance on whether he should consider taking a drop year to improve his score or proceed with admission at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. Additionally, if he opts for Thapar, we would be grateful if you could advise which branch he should choose, keeping in mind both his long-term career prospects and future growth opportunities. Ans: Taking a drop does not guarantee success. If you can take the risk and have full confidence that he can crack the exam with the required percentile, then tell him to proceed with a drop.

At Thapar, consider CSE/COE > AI/ML/Data Science > ECE > Electrical > Mechanical/Civil, based on his genuine interest and aptitude.

Ans: Your son has a strong chance of getting into either top NITs or top IIITs. Try with NIT Warangal/Surathkal/Trichy CSE if available, then NIT Rourkela/Calicut/MNIT Jaipur/MNNIT Allahabad CSE, followed by top NIT ECE/AI/DS branches as backups

Sir, My son got 94.45percentile Jeemains, Mahindra CSE seat blocked, BITS 220marks Session 1, Manipal 148 marks and board 90%. He is interested in CSE or Maths and physics. What shall we do?

Ans: Kishore Sir, you have not mentioned your son's home state. However, please note that BITS typically requires a minimum of 240–250 marks even for MSc programs and above 290–320 for BE programs, especially for the CSE branch. Based on your son's scores, admission to NIT/IIIT CSE through JoSAA appears difficult; some newer IIITs and GFTIs may be possible through CSAB, mainly in lower-demand branches. Please keep Mahindra-CSE as a safe backup option. Regarding Manipal, MIT Manipal CSE is tough to get, but Mathematics & Computing or other CS-related branches may be borderline—last year’s CSE closing rank was near 5129 and Maths & Computing near 5633. MIT Bengaluru offers better chances for CSE/ECE, with the 2025 CSE closing rank around 11,331. Manipal Jaipur and SMIT Sikkim have very good chances for CSE, ECE, and AI-DS branches. Preference order could be MIT Manipal (Maths & Computing/CS specializations) → MIT Bengaluru (CSE/ECE) → Manipal Jaipur (CSE) → SMIT (CSE). If possible & if you/your son desire, have Thapar also as one of the backup options. Physics is a better option mainly for research-oriented goals; for his interests, CSE or Maths & Computing would be preferable unless he is strongly inclined toward research.
