Dear Sir I was working as COE in a private university but later I joined a university near my home town as a registrar and left my PhD in between to focus on my job now when I apply for a registrar post they say you are not a PhD and also you do not have enough experience as a registrar. Now I want to ask whether I should apply for registrar or for COE also should I do PhD or focus on job instead.

Ans: I dont know which institutes you visited. were you a permanent faculty or visiting. As far as I understand good teachers are needed and students demand such teachers. All authorities cannot be demanding buttering as you say. Professional colleges go for competence. Yes you need to be polite and diplomatic while dealing with people. Do consider this and do a self assessment that you are not too arrogant. There is a difference between arrogance and self respect.

What is the end goal of PHD in CSE or doing an MBA?

Whats your ideal role? Try and finalize that and see what will get you closer to that goal?

PhD would take you back to academia while an MBA might take you to corporate.

Ans: Ranjan, you have mentioned you started preparing for Govt. Jobs. But NOT mentioned, you have been targeting which Competitive Exams & have you appeared in any Competitive Exams during the last 2 years? How was your performance? Awaiting any results? Based on your preparation and / or the results you got (even if you could not get through), you can still try Govt. Jobs but you should manage your time properly and change your preparation strategies. If you feel, you still can try for Govt. Jobs, you can continue with that. Keeping in view your age factor, try for Govt. Job for an year by applying to some Competitive Exams. Have a Plan B also as a back-up. All The BEST for your Future, Rajan.

Ans: CMA could be better of the two. Buth both may not provide you jobs in a small town.

Ans: Focus on trying to build your resume during your MBA course. Take part in intercollege case study competitions. Do some relevant online courses that can help you get a job in your domain. Do internships.
