how to go about preparing for ipmat and clat together for my son who is currently giving his 10th boards from icse

Ans: Sumeet, To prepare for the Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) and Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a structured approach is recommended. This includes strengthening basic math concepts and reading newspapers to improve comprehension and vocabulary. Balancing ICSE board exams and entrance preparation involves prioritizing board exam scores while gradually strengthening core concepts. For IPMAT, master higher-level math topics and practice speed-based problem-solving. For CLAT, focus on puzzles, syllogisms, critical reasoning, and legal reasoning. Reading and comprehension can be enhanced by reading editorials, novels, and case studies daily. Recommended study materials include NCERT, Word Power Made Easy, The Hindu, Manorama Yearbook, Pratiyogita Darpan, and daily news analysis. Mock tests should be practiced in Class 11 and gradually increased to Class 12, with a disciplined timetable for self-study. Which is the best online coaching for IPMAT? Enquiring for my son who is planning to appear in 2026. How should he prepare for the test? His 11th standard subjects are Accountancy, business administration, economics, applied maths and Financial Marketing Management.

Ans: Preparation for IPMAT is similar to preparing for Management entrance test. Most classes that conduct classes for MBA entrance also conduct classes for IPMAT including mine.
He can start with writing the mock. A free mock is available on my website Patrick100 which he can write. That will give him fair idea about the exam. Post that he can plan for his preparation.

Good morning.My son is in standard 10th right now.We have planned to target CLAT and IPMAT for him after 12th.I it possible to prepare for both?If yes,how should he go about preparing for both ? What is the exam schedule?Thanks and regards.

Ans: Sumeet Sir, as Students should always have Plan B & Plan C, he can target both CLAT & IPMAT. However,

(a) he should allot more time to the one he is more interested in (law or management?).
(b) Preparing for both exams even from the 10th now will help him a lot to crack both exams with a decent score
(c) It is better to shortlist at least 5 law/management colleges he wishes to join, based on location preference, NIRF Ranking, specialization in both (civil, criminal, corporate, tax, cyber, intellectual property etc. and also in management: Finance, HR, Marketing, Operations, IT/Systems, etc.)
(d) He should join offline or online Coaching with any reputed Coaching Center. Choosing the right coaching center to prepare for both exams is important & also the Time Management for both.
(e) Make sure, he chooses the right stream (commerce or science) for his 11th/12th. Choosing the easier stream and the stream he is interested in will be better as he has to focus for CLAT & IPMAT also.
(f) It is also advisable to appear in 2-more Law & Management Entrance Exams as back-ups, instead of relying only on CLAT & IMPAT.
(g) Please check the syllabus of each Entrance Exam, download them, check the differences & he should focus more on weak subjects/topics among (examples of 2 exams):

IPMAT: Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability.
CLAT: current affairs, logical reasoning, English language, legal reasoning, and quantitative techniques.

i have 120 shares of industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India on ipo in 1995.tody how many shares will it be today?

Ans: Hello;

During merger of icici with its bank swap ratio was 2:1. So 60 shares of ICICI Bank in 2001.

Later face value of its share was split from ?10 to ?2 so 60x5=300 shares in 2014.

In 2017 icici bank issued bonus shares at 1:10 therefore 30 more shares so total 330 shares of ICICI Bank as on today.

Ans: Hello;

You may check zero cost term insurance plans offered by some life insurance companies such as HDFC life.

This allows you to preclose your term policy before maturity if your financial responsibilities are taken care of, and get the refund of premiums paid except taxes and some charges.

Almost all life insurance companies offer Term Plan with Return of Premium(TROP). In this the insurer refunds all the premiums, except taxes, if you survive till maturity and policy is in force.

In a plain vanilla term plan you do not get anything back if you survive till maturity.

Life insurance is pure protection for policyholder's dependants in the
unfortunate event of his death.

Do not mix investment and insurance.

LIC, HDFC life, Kotak life insurance, ICICI Pru life insurance, SBI Life all offer good term plans.

You may buy plans by any of these or even other better offerings.

Please do your due diligence or seek help from an insurance advisor.

With 97.4 %tile, under OBC-NCL, category, he may get admission to one of the NITs but not surely in Trichy.
Please keep a close watch on the admission process and go through the previous year's cut-off by visiting the official website of particular institutes.

Your friend may have been blacklisted by the banks or some way to convert illegal money into legal money.

Don't agree for such things ever.

If some illicit transactions are routed through your account, all probe agencies will nag you.

Greetings, Received Income tax Intimation u/s 143(1) with respect to the return of income filed by for the Assessment year 2022-23 regarding demand notice of payment for sec 234b There was no Advance tax paid for the mentioned period FY 2021-22, And the ITR was filed on 31-12-2023. As such for calculation of 234B, the number of months from Apr 1st 2022 was calculated as 21 and the amount to be paid on the Assessed tax 103600 was calculated as (103600*1%)*21 which was filed as 21,756/- But the demand notice mentions the amount as 32,116 (which seems to be calculated as 31 months) Was my calculation of 234B considering 21 months (01-04-2022 -> 31-12-2023) correct, in which case should I ask for a rectification for reprocessing ? Pls Advice. Thanks Verky

Ans: Advance Tax payments are made in four installments. In your case it was payable in July-2021 (15%), September-2021 (30%), December-2021 (30%) & March-2022 (25%).
Since you have not paid any installments, so interest would be calculated from the above mentioned dates.
You may check interest due on above basis for your satisfaction. Hope calculations of ITD are correct, you may pay the demand.
