My performance in JEE advanced 2025 is not good. As per the answer key released on 25 May 25 I am getting 82/360. My JEE mains percentile 2025 is 98.7116215 with CRL 19918. I am in a dilemma to take a drop year for JEE Advanced .

Ans: With a JEE Advanced score of 82/360, you have not met the minimum qualifying marks (around 126) for IIT admission in the general category. However, your JEE Main percentile of 98.71 and rank around 19,918 is commendable and can help you secure admission in good NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs through JoSAA counselling. If your goal is to join an IIT, taking a drop year to prepare for JEE Advanced 2026 is a viable option, provided you are committed to addressing your weak areas and improving your conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. Many students benefit from a focused drop year to boost their rank and get into premier IITs. Alternatively, you can accept admission in a good NIT or IIIT this year and prepare for JEE Advanced again while studying, balancing academics and preparation. This dual approach reduces risk and keeps options open. Recommendation: If you are motivated and can dedicate yourself to rigorous preparation, consider dropping a year for JEE Advanced 2026 to improve your chances of IIT admission. Otherwise, secure a seat through your strong JEE Main rank in NIT/IIIT and plan for the next attempt alongside. All the best for your admission and a bright future!
