My daughter is a 2028 neet aspirant who is confused in choosing the extra subject along with PCB for class 11. She has been studying maths since May and has completed 2 chapters already. But now she is thinking to change her subject because of time management issues. Please tell if she should choose Bitechnology, Computer Science or continue with maths, taking board/school exams as well as NEET preperation into consideration. Please help
Ans: Hi,
GREETINGS FROM THE REDIFFGURUS.
That's a good question.

Since she is a NEET aspirant, there's no need to worry about the fourth subject, whether it's Mathematics, Biotechnology, or Computer Science. My suggestion is to stick with Mathematics. Studying Math will help her tackle the physics portion of the NEET exam more easily, especially since many students often struggle with the calculations in that section.

So, don’t worry; the choice you’ve made is the best one. There is NO benefit to choosing Computer Science at this time, and while a few questions may appear in NEET related to Biotechnology, those will mostly be covered in Biology. So, please proceed with Mathematics. I hope you understand my point.

From now on, please don’t change her mind or let her get distracted.

One suggestion I have is that she should start preparing for NEET immediately. How? She should download the NEET syllabus from the official website and go through it. Encourage her to segregate the chapters based on Class 11 and Class 12. For any topics in the Class 11 syllabus, she should review them and clarify any doubts in her regular classes before completing that syllabus. The same approach should be applied for Class 12 as well.

Additionally, she should try some free mock tests available online. Encourage her to practice yoga and meditation, as this will help her manage stress. With a focused approach, she can score well and secure a seat in top medical colleges like AIIMS or JIPMER.

Sir i am akshat i recently asked you regarding thapar jiit comedk uptac etc . Sir if for some reason i am not able to get into thapar and i get jiit noida MnC branch not cse should i be considering it ? Or i should be going for nie mysuru cse
Ans: Akshat, both JIIT and NIE are good colleges, and their MnC and CSE branches each have their strengths. Choosing between MnC and CSE depends on your interests and the kind of problems you want to solve in the future. JIIT’s Mathematics & Computing program combines computer science with advanced math, statistics, AI, machine learning, and algorithms, making it ideal for those who enjoy analytical thinking, research, and working with complex computing problems. On the other hand, NIE’s Computer Science & Engineering covers core subjects like programming, data structures, databases, operating systems, networks, software engineering, and practical software development skills needed for industry roles. Both branches offer great opportunities in AI, ML, data science, and software fields. MnC suits students strong in math and logic who want to focus on AI, data science, or research, while CSE is better for those interested in the traditional computer science path with broader IT roles. Placement trends show established CSE programs tend to have more predictable recruiter acceptance, so NIE’s CSE is generally a safer bet, while JIIT’s MnC is better if you’re passionate about math and advanced computing. My suggestion is to choose based on what interests you most, where you feel confident and comfortable, and which location you prefer. All the Best for Your Prosperous Future!

Sir my son has secured CSE in Manipal main campus in the first round and fees deposited. He has got a BITSAT score of 250 and wants to pursue Dual degree program from any one of the three campuses of BITS Pilani as BE four years is difficult to get. Please advise the order of choices he should go Dual degree in BITS campus wise and branch wise sequence or should he go for Manipal. Thanks.
Ans: SIR,
GREETINGS FROM THE REDIFFGURUS!
Based on the engineering program, he can choose from various dual degree options. If he is interested in Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or B.E. Pharmaceutical Engineering, he should consider pursuing a combination with Chemistry. Alternatively, he can choose from Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electronics and Instrumentation, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental and Sustainability Engineering, or again B.E. Pharmaceutical Engineering. He also has the option to focus on Physics.

He can prioritize attending the Pilani campus, followed by the Hyderabad and Goa campuses.

In my opinion, most students seeking jobs primarily rely on their first degree rather than their dual degree. Additionally, it’s unlikely that someone can achieve expertise in multiple subjects within just one year. Therefore, it may be better for him to pursue a conventional path. This way, he can concentrate more on specific subjects, gain a deeper understanding, and ultimately increase his employability.

BEST WISHES.

Hello sir, my son is getting an option in DTU (MAC), iiit Allahabad (IT), PEC (CSE) and iist Trivandrum (CSE). Please recommend which option will be best for his future. Regards
Ans: For long-term career prospects, the preference order could be: 1) IIIT Allahabad – IT, 2) DTU – Mathematics & Computing (MAC), 3) PEC Chandigarh – CSE, and 4) IIST Trivandrum – CSE. IIIT Allahabad IT stands out for its strong coding culture, excellent CSE/IT placements, and solid tech reputation. DTU MAC offers great placements along with strong mathematical depth. PEC CSE is good but slightly behind the first two. IIST’s CSE program is relatively new (started 2-3 years ago) and is not highly recommended compared to the other three. Also, please note that recruitment into ISRO is not guaranteed. All the Best for Your Son's Prosperous Future!

My daughter score 90 in IISER and 100 in NISER exam but in her 12th board she got failed in physics subject so her additional subject mark got add in her subject her combination is chemistry , biology, math can she get admission in any of these institutions or she needs to clear the physics subject first and if she get admission in their will be problem she have to face because of this .
Ans: Saraswati Madam, Her entrance scores are excellent, but the main concern is the Class 12 eligibility certificate. IISER requires candidates to have passed Class 12 with at least three subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Similarly, NISER/NEST requires a passed Class 12 science qualification with the necessary aggregate. Since she failed Physics but passed overall by counting an additional subject, admission will depend on whether her final marksheet shows “PASS” and meets the institute’s eligibility criteria. However, because Physics is a core science subject, she should clear it through compartment or improvement exams before joining to avoid any verification issues later. All the Best for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!
