Vaibbhav Patil is a sports physiotherapist, business mentor and co-founder of Replay Physio, a chain of orthopaedic physiotherapy clinics specialising in strength coaching and ‘return to sport’ after injury.
Patil has been a physiotherapist and strength coach to Olympic champions like Abhinav Bindra, Yogeshwer Dutt and Amit Kumar.
A national level swimmer and a water polo player himself, he has worked with the Mittal Champions Trust, The Indian Olympic Association, Indian Wrestling Federation and Indian boxing team as a sports physiotherapist at several international competitions including the London Olympics.
Patil has a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from SDM College of Physiotherapy, Dharwad, and is a postgraduate in athlete biomechanics and sports analysis from the University of Bath, the United Kingdom.

I have pain in my palm and hand whenever I use a mobile otherwise it is perfectly ok what could be the reason and remedy

Ans: Hello Manoj,
If the pain occurs only while using the mobile., it could be postural in nature. You need to make sure the phone is in line with your eyes and head upright. Keeping a good posture and strengthening the neck musclea with help you.

Since you want a solution that does not involve a change in your practices, your best option would be to buy a mobile stand or get your loved ones to massage your shoulder when it hurts.

The basic law of nature is that every action has a reaction -- if you don’t respect your body, the body will give up on you.

The next impact could be on your eyes, your neck or mental issues like anxiety caused by excessive exposure to digital screens.

If you want to avoid these problems, limit your screen usage, make sure your posture is correct when you sit to use any kind of digital screen and splash cold water on your eyes after constant screen exposure.

Ans: Hello Anonymous,
It is important to some stretching exercises of the neck, shoulder, forearm and palm area. That will help the finger too.
You can just for one to few sessions to a yoga teacher or physiotherapist and learn the proper way of stretching/strengthening as required once they see you.

Hi ,I have pain near middle joints of fingers when I press them this is happening in 2 to 4 fingers ,when i stretch the fingers pain subsides generally it's more in morning when I woke up and press ,also joints of affected fingers that connect to wrist (palm side) , there is slight when I press of what could be reason ,there is no pain if press all fingers upper joint

Please show an orthopedic, it could be a nerve related issue from the cervical spine. It’s best to get the scans and diagnose it well

Ans: Joint inflammation brings in pain.Early morning stiffness affecting the smaller joints at the PEriphery neeeds to be consulted with a Medical specialist or a Rheumatologist

Hello Career Gurus, I have a PGDBM which is pretty dated back to the year 2006. I find that the entire canvas has changed with the digital revolution making me somewhat out of place. Although, i managed to traverse successfully career-wise and secured management role but sometimes I face self-doubt whether I would be able ro sustain myself in this back-biting and nasty politics driven corporate world. I have jettisoned plans several times to go fof masters into enterpreneural management or data analytics. I am worried about the next step. Should I take a sabbatical considering that I have the usual middle-class constraints spelled out as obligation to family esp. ageing parents with my better-half playing stalemate on her commitment towards helping me and financial liabilities as well. What should I do ? Please suggest. Thank you !

Ans: You can always do part time courses along with your job and then scout for relevant jobs. A lot of certificate courses are available. Even top B schools do conduct short term management courses which is another option to look out for. Leaving your job is definitely not recommended. About taking sabbatical, it will depend on how will it affect your promotion in your company.
