Relationship

I am 55 years old women. I have been married for last 29 years. It was arranged marriage. I am working in Govt. sector. I have a son who is 28 years and married settled abroad. However, my marriage life was not good from the beginning. My husband has physically & mentally abused me several times. As I wanted the relationship, I accepted him. Now, after all trauma, he has felt the house after some fight. This is not the first time when he has left the house. We are not legally separated. I am staying with my father who is 80 years old. I don't want to be a burden to my son or my father. I am having health issues. Now that he has left me and son is far away, what should I do? One of my college friend (only) met me after 31 years. He is also separated and emotionally travelling in the same phase of life for past 10 years. He wants to share rest of his life together. However, due to my past experience, I am unable trust anyone or to forget my past life. I feel very lonely and depressed always. Pl. advice what I should do at this stage of life?

Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Don't jump from one relationship into another to fill some emptiness; it never ends well!
First find some sort of workable resolution for your marriage. Are you willing to separate? If Yes, then proceed in that direction. If Not, then know that by engaging in another association, you will complicate your life further. Instead treat this other person as a friend (if feelings don't get in the way); both of you can help one another through this challenging time provided you can be mature about it.

All the best!

Hello sir, I am 52 years handicapped with a good govt. job. I have been married for 27 years now. My son also married recently and he is in USA. I dont know where to start. Mine was arranged marriage. But my husband and his family cheated us regarding his job. He was jobless after our marriage. I had a son in the first year of our marriage. I stayed with him for only 2 months then I was send to my fathers house for delivery. He never visited me during this time nor he had called me. As he was jobless, I tried hard to build my carrier for sake of my son. I had managed all these years financially. I never received any financial support or emotional support from him past 27 years. We had fought badly accusing each. He will physically abuse me every time. He is addicted to alcohol and watching prone movies. My son once saw his mssg to call girls and other such women in his mobile. I was shocked too. Later I discovered he had many such connections. He had been spending his merger salary for all this self enjoyment and never shared anything for HL or son education. However, I had stayed with him for social security and status. Now I have completed all my duties. My son is safe and far from him. Even after my sons marriage, he behaved violently after consuming alcohol. I am really fed up with him. I have my income and properties. But I have no one to share my emotions as my son also has left and busy with his life in USA. I don't need any physical needs but need emotional support for rest of my life. I am in total depression for all I have undergone for 27 years. I currently having my father who is 80 years with me in the house. My husbands behaviour towards my father is very bad. Now my fathers health is getting affected because of my husbands shouting. I have no other friends or relations to relate to. My health also is getting slowly affected and I my mobility is very much restricted. Sometimes I was having succidal ideas. I have no life goals now. I have achieved all my goals. I have completed all my duties now. What should I do now?
Ans: Hats off to you my dear lady. You need to file for divorce and get this vile man out of your life and home once and for all. You have the means and the economic upper hand as well — consult a strong divorce lawyer and kick him to the curb! And there is life, love and companionship out there for you, so don’t give up on finding your own happiness — 52 is not old, you have a lot of years ahead with the potential to fulfill your happiness. Go for it!

Hi I am turning fifty in the month of Aug.I hv 21 yrs daughter.Got divorced 2 years of my marriage.Met a man 4 years younger to me.Fell in love with him.Beacuse of his toxic , violent, drunkard behaviour though married with him but felt unsecured never went to live with him .He is very abusive and toxic in nature.Insults,me ,my daughter and my parents, Knowing this fact not got approval from my parents and daughter too. Finally he divorced me as well. But I always feel that he will come back, feels sorry for all the misbehabings done by him to me and sab theek ho jayega. Inspite of knowing all I love him very much. Don't know what to do. Kindly help. Can't think of life without him
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Now as you turn 50, gift yourself a life that you deserve; one that you are in charge of. A life that you wish to lead without being dependent on anyone for your happiness.
For what great joy, do you want to entertain a man who you yourself describe as toxic and who has already divorced you? What kind of a life will you have with him that you know and you still say that you can't think of a life without him?
Is it because you have gotten so used to the insecurity around him that you are unwilling to see a secure life with anyone else or just yourself?
Kindly do yourself a favor and be with yourself; this will allow you to heal from your past relationships. The vacuum will now be filled with more meaningful things. Rather than bring him back and sab theek ho jaayega, you make things theek for yourself. Take charge and live peacefully without inviting your past back into your life. Instead, by taking charge you will be able to build your life the way that you need to and along the way someday you might meet someone who respects and values you. Can you build your life? Are you willing to take charge?

All the best!

Career Counsellor - Answered on Jul 22, 2026

Career
Hi, my son got 425 marks in neet. belongs to MP, general category. please suggest chances of govt seat in mbbs. If it is not than what is next better option is ? should he opt for BDS or BAMS? if pvt mbbs chance is there, what could be the total cost of course ?
Ans: Based on official 2025 MP DME counselling data, a General category candidate from Madhya Pradesh with 425 NEET UG marks faces almost impossible odds for a Government MBBS seat through the 15% All India Quota and low chances through the regular 85% MP State Quota. While most Unreserved government seats closed well above this score in Round 1, low-to-moderate chances might exist if cut-offs drop substantially in later rounds or stray vacancies at newer colleges, though these should be treated as lucky exceptions. For example, last year’s cut-off for the Amaltas Institute of Medical Sciences in Dewas was 446. Conversely, securing a private MBBS seat in MP or other states is a moderate to high possibility depending on financial flexibility, with total course costs ranging from roughly Rs.50 lakh to over Rs.1.2 crore. If private medical colleges exceed the budget, BDS offers excellent ROI and strong long-term opportunities through MDS or private practice, while BAMS provides growing career potential in the expanding AYUSH sector. Your son should logically order their preferences as Government MBBS, Affordable Private MBBS, Government BDS, Government BAMS, Private BDS, and finally Private BAMS. Even with the marginal admission boost from the 2026–27 MBBS seat expansion, competition remains intense, making it critical to participate broadly in MCC, MP State, Deemed University, and AACCC counselling across all rounds with a strategic mix of dream, realistic, and safe choices. All The Best for Your Son's Prosperous Future!
