Money

I have invested in the following mutual funds. I would like to continue for the next 7-8 years & this would be for my son’s higher education. I'm looking at the corpus of Rs 50 lakh.

SIP: Rs 25000 per month and additional lump sum whenever I can.

Canara Robaco Bluechip Fund - Rs 8000 per month and additional Lump sum - Rs 50,000

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund - Rs 5000 per month and additional Lump sum of Rs 50,000

Mirae Asset Large Cap Fund - Rs 4000 per month and additional Lump sum - Rs 100,000

Axis Bluechip Fund - Rs 5000- per month and additional Lump sum - Rs 50,000

SBI Small Cap Fund - Rs 3000 per month

Axis Mid Cap Fund - Rs 50000 (Lump sum)

Axis growth Opportunities Fund - Rs 100,000 (Lump sum)

All these were started around 7-8 months back. Kindly advice on the above funds

Ans: Good funds, with 25K SIP a corpus of 40 lacs can be created in 8 years.

Hello Ulhas, I am 36 years old and I am currently investing around 1 lakh per month distributed among these Mutual funds . Quant small cap , ICICI prudential technology, ICICI prudential commodities, HDFC flexi cap .. Wanted to understand if I shall continue with these funds or change my allocation.. I am looking for atleast 6-7 years

Ans: Hello Masroor & thanks for writing to me. All the funds you invest in are good funds, however I notice that you are investing in 2 thematic/sectoral funds, ICICI Prudential Technology Fund & ICICI Prudential Commodities Fund.

Thematic/sectoral funds are dependent on the market cycles and may not be suitable at all times for all investors. If you are confident about your understanding of the themes, you can continue investing in these funds. If you are not confident, then you can consider pausing SIP's in these schemes & instead invest in ICICI Prudential Mid cap fund & SBI Blue Chip Fund.

Ans: Decide if you want to take JEE again or join a college this year.
Look at state counseling options for government colleges.
Consider private universities with good placement records.
If you want to switch fields, look at BCA, B.Sc. Data Science, or professional courses.

My son got 93.10 percentile..we belong to obc NCL..wt is the expected category rank for him??he can get seat in tier 2 nit in any branch??

Ans: With 93.10 percentile in JEE Mains 2025 and OBC-NCL category, your son's expected category rank would be around 40,000 - 45,000 (CRL) and 10,000 - 12,000 (OBC-NCL Rank).
Yes, he has a chance of getting a seat in lower branches in Tier-2 NITs, especially in later rounds of JoSAA and CSAB counseling.

Ans: CRL rank of around 32,000 - 35,000 (approximate).
OBC-NCL rank may be around 10,000 - 12,000.
