I recently bought a two-wheeler for my 20- year-old daughter for her daily commute to college and to run other errands. Which insurance plan should I go for? Are there any specific add-on covers that I should buy?

Ans: You should consider buying a two-wheeler package policy for five years from an insurer along with a five-year personal accident owner-driver cover.

Additionally, you may consider engine safe, consumable and roadside assistance cover add-ons, which will be helpful for your daughter if the vehicle gets stuck or damaged during her daily commute.

I want to purchase auto insurance for my Maruti Ertiga which I purchased two years ago. Which auto insurance policy will best look after my interests in the event of an accident which could lead to fatalities or lead me permanently disabled? I want to choose an auto insurance policy that will take care of hospitalisation as well as permanent disability.
Ans: In the unfortunate event of an accident with your Maruti Ertiga, a comprehensive car insurance policy will best serve your interests. Here's why:

Comprehensive Coverage:

• Third-party Liability: This is mandatory by law and covers any injuries or property damage caused to a third party due to an accident involving your car.
• Own Damage Cover: This protects your Maruti Ertiga from damages caused by accidents, theft, fire, natural calamities, etc.

Additional Coverage for Permanent Disability and Hospitalisation:

• Personal Accident (PA) Cover for Owner-Driver and Passengers: This add-on provides a lump sum payout in case of death or permanent disability due to an accident. You can extend this cover to include your passengers as well.
• Medical Expenses Cover: This add-on reimburses hospitalisation expenses incurred due to injuries sustained in an accident.

Here's what to consider when choosing an insurance provider:

• Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR): Look for insurers with a high CSR, which indicates a good record of settling claims promptly.
• Network Garages: Opt for an insurer with a wide network of cashless garages for repairs to ensure a hassle-free experience.
• Customer Service: Choose a company known for providing prompt and helpful customer service.

Popular Car Insurance Providers in India:

• Acko General Insurance
• HDFC Ergo
• The Oriental Insurance Company
• National Insurance Company
• Bajaj Allianz General Insurance

Researching and Comparing Policies

• Use online insurance aggregator websites to compare quotes from different providers. These websites allow you to input details about your Maruti Ertiga, your driving history, and desired coverage options. They will then provide you with quotes from various insurers, allowing you to compare prices and features.

Consulting a Financial Advisor

• Consider consulting a financial advisor who can help you assess your specific needs and recommend the most suitable car insurance policy for your Maruti Ertiga.

Best insurance policy for children
Ans: Understanding the best options for securing your children's future is crucial, and insurance policies are often considered. However, let's delve into why insurance investment policies for children might not be the optimal choice and highlight the disadvantages compared to mutual funds.

Recognizing the Importance of Financial Planning for Children
Investing in your children's future is a priority for every parent, and it's essential to explore avenues that offer both protection and growth opportunities.

Disadvantages of Insurance Investment Policies for Children
Low Returns: Insurance investment policies often offer relatively lower returns compared to mutual funds. The returns generated may not be sufficient to meet long-term financial goals.

Lack of Flexibility: Insurance policies typically come with inflexible terms and conditions, limiting your ability to adjust investments based on changing financial needs and market conditions.

High Charges and Fees: Insurance investment policies often entail high charges, including premium allocation charges, policy administration charges, and fund management charges, which can erode the overall returns.

Limited Transparency: Insurance policies may lack transparency in terms of fund performance, investment strategy, and associated costs, making it challenging for investors to assess the effectiveness of their investments.

Advantages of Mutual Funds Over Insurance Investment Policies
Higher Potential Returns: Mutual funds offer the potential for higher returns compared to insurance policies, as they invest in a diversified portfolio of securities across various asset classes.

Greater Flexibility: Mutual funds provide investors with greater flexibility to tailor their investment strategies, switch between funds, and adjust allocations based on evolving financial goals and market dynamics.

Lower Costs: Mutual funds typically have lower fees and charges compared to insurance policies, resulting in higher net returns for investors over the long term.

Transparency and Accountability: Mutual funds offer greater transparency in terms of fund performance, investment holdings, and costs, enabling investors to make informed decisions and hold fund managers accountable.

Leveraging the Benefits of Mutual Funds for Children's Future
Instead of opting for insurance investment policies, consider investing in mutual funds for your children's future. Mutual funds offer the potential for higher returns, greater flexibility, lower costs, and transparency, making them a more efficient and effective investment vehicle for long-term wealth creation.

Conclusion
In conclusion, while insurance policies may seem like a convenient option for securing your children's future, they often come with limitations and drawbacks compared to mutual funds. By opting for mutual funds, you can harness the benefits of higher returns, flexibility, lower costs, and transparency, ultimately ensuring a brighter financial future for your children.

Tech Careers and Skill Development Expert - Answered on Dec 05, 2025

Career
Dear Sir, I did my BTech from a normal engineering college not very famous. The teaching was not great and hence i did not study well. I tried my best to learn coding including all the technologies like html, css, javascript, react js,dba, php because i wanted to be a web developer But nothing seem to enter my head except html and css. I don't understand a language which has more complexities. Is it because of my lack of experience or not devoting enough time. I am not sure. I did many courses online and tried to do diplomas also abroad which i passed somehow. I recently joined android development course because i like apps but the teaching was so fast that i could not memorize anything. There was no time to even take notes down. During the course i did assignments and understood the code because i have to pass but after the course is over i tend to forget everything. I attempted a lot of interviews. Some of them i even got but could not perform well so they let me go. Now due to the AI booming and job markets in a bad shape i am re-thinking whether to keep studying or whether its just time waste. Since 3 years i am doing labour type of jobs which does not yield anything to me for survival and to pay my expenses. I have the quest to learn everything but as soon as i sit in front of the computer i listen to music or read something else. What should i do to stay more focused? What should i do to make myself believe confident. Is there still scope of IT in todays world? Kindly advise.
Ans: Your story does not show failure.
It shows persistence, effort, and desire to improve.

Most people give up.
You didn’t.
That means you will succeed — but with the right method, not the old one.

Dating, Relationships Expert - Answered on Dec 04, 2025

Relationship
My married ex still texts me for comfort. Because of him, I am unable to move on. He makes me feel guilty by saying he got married out of family pressure. His dad is a cardiac patient and mom is being treated for cancer. He comforts me by saying he will get separated soon and we will get married because he only loves me. We have been in a relationship for 14 years and despite everything we tried, his parents refused to accept me, so he chose to get married to someone who understands our situation. I don't know when he will separate from his wife. She knows about us too but she comes from a traditional family. She also confirmed there is no physical intimacy between them. I trust him, but is it worth losing my youth for him? Honestly, I am worried and very confused.
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
I understand how difficult it is to let go of a relationship you have built from scratch, but is it really how you want to continue? It really seems to be going nowhere. His parents are already in bad health and he married someone else for their happiness. Does it seem like he will be able to leave her? So many people’s happiness and lives depend on this one decision. I think it’s about time you and your BF have a clear conversation about the same. If he can’t give a proper timeline, please try to understand his situation. But also make sure he understands yours and maybe rethink this equation. It really isn’t healthy. You deserve a love you can have wholly, and not just in pieces, and in the shadows.

Hope this helps
