I am a 50 year old professional with more than 2 decades in 2 large Pharma MNCs that I invested in 3 flats (Mumbai, Thane and Chennai) and left with a corpus of 2 crore. Somehow I never heard or seen any proper advice from anyone with regard to investing lumpsum in MFs. Currently the FDs are earning a decent 8.5 per cent per annum and my risk appetite is low.

What is your advice for me to invest in MFs?

Ans: We can look at only debt funds:

Corporate Debt funds have Moderate risk
Banking and PSU debt funds have Moderately low risk
Gilt funds have Moderate risk

Therefore you may consider banking and PSU debt funds

HDFC banking and PSU debt funds – Growth
DSP banking and PSU debt funds – Growth
L&T banking and PSU debt funds – Growth

- It's very difficult to time the markets, therefore please stagger your investment over 12 months

I am 46 years old and am planning to invest in some mutual funds which can give good returns in 5-6 years. I am looking to invest Rs 2.5 lakh lump sum. Please suggest if I should divide it between more than 1 or 2 MFs. Also, since the market is high at the moment, is it the right time to invest lump sum now?

Ans: Please avoid lump sum; instead, stagger it in 12 months via SIP or STP.

These funds can be considered

I am an NRI; never invested in MFs. I would like to have your views on investing in the top MFs on a monthly basis of Rs 50k- Rs100k with a monthly inflow to my bank. I am also looking to invest between Rs 100 lacs as lumpsum in some funds to save taxes. I would appreciate your brilliant ideas on the same. My age is 55 years. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Ans: Below are few funds that can be considered for monthly investment:

UTI Flexi Cap Fund -- Growth
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund -- Growth
Axis ESG Equity Fund -- Growth
Motilal Oswal Focused 25 Fund -- Growth

Tax savings are capped at Rs 1.5 lakhs under 80C per annum, therefore it does not make sense to invest more than that in ELSS schemes.

A few ELSS Schemes that can be considered are

Axis Long term Equity Fund -- Growth
Canara Robeco Equity Tax Saver Fund - Growth

I am from Nashik. Now I am 52. I will be getting an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs in next month from my maturing post office savings. Please suggest good MFs to invest lumpsum to get good regular monthly income. Are the funds good & should I hold or change? Please suggest. I am already investing Rs.17000/- pm in: 1. Axis Focused 25 Fund - Gr - 4000/- 2. Kotak Standard Multicap Fund - Gr - 5000/- 3. Principal Emerging Bluechip Fund - Gr - 8000/-

Ans: Please continue with the existing funds and as far as Lumpsum of Rs. 2 lakhs are concerned, below fund can be considered:

HDFC Banking and PSU Fund -- Growth
ICICI Corporate bond Fund -- Growth
Union Balanced Advantage Fund -- Growth
Aditya Birla Corporate Bond Fund -- Growth

Depending upon your requirement you may set up SWP, however that should be not more than 7% to 7.5% of the corpus.

Sir , i am 57yrs old. within 1 yr i am retired. So pls guide me , how i invest 30 laks in swp system and how many return from here . Also request you suggest the mf name where i invest.

Ans: You can invest 30 Lac as lumpsum in conservative hybrid(debt oriented) fund. Based on 5 year return yardstick Kotak hybrid debt fund and SBI Conservative hybrid fund are the 2 recommendations.

It will be better if you stay invested in this fund for 5 year and let the corpus grow. After 5 years you can expect a corpus of around 50 Lacs(10%+ return assumed)

Then you can start your SWP at the rate of say 5% per year which will translate into monthly payout of around 21K.

However if you need immediate pension then you can invest in PO monthly income scheme(7.4% rate;5yr tenure) upto 9 L in your name and another 9 L in the name of your spouse or other family member. It is a safe scheme since backed by GOI. For the balance 12 L you can do 3 FDs of 4 L each in reputed banks.

My date of exit is wrongly put in epf account. I will try to give joint declaration form, but my compay liquidator not give sign. My company pay(epf payment) only 2013. But i am regin in 2015. I am 59 year old. Give solutio n.

Ans: If your employer has not made the statutory EPF contributions then you can file a legal case.

For wrong DOE, joint declaration form is the right way, if the employer is not co-operating then you can talk to EPF officials about the same with documentary evidence. They may consider it, else you can file online grievance through EPFO grievance management system.

Hello Mam, I'm 49 years male, having Triglycerides -242, LDL Cholestrol - 96 , VLDL Cholestrol - 49, HDL Cholestrol - 43. Apart from that I have Thyroid T3 - 2.97, T4 - 0.93 and TSH - 4.83. I have been doing morning brisk walk for about 40 minutes and doing pranayam (majorly kapal bhati, kumbhak, anulom vilom, bhramri (8-10 minutes) for 45 min daily for the past 2 months without break. My question to you is , first- by doing brisk morning walk and pranayam daily will my cholestrol and thyroid level will be within the range. Secondly I get iritiated and lose my temper quite often, do the above said exercise will help me in controlling my anger / irritiability and quitting use of tobacco. Please help me.

Ans: You may invest in Post Office monthly income scheme. 5 year tenure. Monthly interest payment. Current rate is 7.4%. If singly held maximum investment limit is 9 Lac and for joint holding it is 15 Lac. It is GOI scheme offered through Posts hence comes with sovereign guarantee.
