Hi. I’m a 37yr old female, diabetic since last 10 years. My fasting is in the range of 250-300 and pp is close to 250. I’m on insulin triceba-22 uts/day along with lispro thrice a day with 22/22/12 units respectively. How do I bring my sugar levels down. I also walk for 40min-1 hr every day. My weight is around 55kgs and I’m 5’1.

Ans: A fasting blood sugar level of 250-300 mg/dl is out of range. Ensure including complex carbohydrate and fiber rich foods in your diet like whole grains, beans, pulses, vegetables, fruits, etc. Protein foods like low fat dairy products, eggs, lean meal, legumes, etc.; are very important to offset the blood sugar spikes. Include healthy fats in your diet. Avoid sweets and high fat foods, alcohol, chocolates, etc. Adopt a regular regimen of strengthening and aerobic exercises to lower body fat and increase lean mass.
