Hi Ms. Nidhi Gupta, I have a pain in the heel bone of left foot. I don't have a flat foot. I walk regularly. My uric acid was at 6. The physician advised me a medication for 3 months, I completed it but the heel pain is not going away. Please advise a remedy. (the pain killer effect remains 72 hours).

Ans: Heel pain could be due to calcaneal spur, plantarfascitis, calf muscle trigger point or due to lumbosacral issues. Since your heel pain is for last 2 months it is advisable to go to either an orthopedic or physiotherapist.
They will guide you if any further investigation like an x-ray required and depending on the diagnosis the treatment may consist of Ultrasound therapy, calf muscle release, medications like NSAIDs.
Even through you have changed your footwear a tailor made footwear may be required as guided by the health professional.
Home remedy for heel pain is usually to dip your leg in warm water for 10 minutes followed by dipping it in cold water for 10 minutes. This can be done twice a day. It is better to do some calf stretches in the morning in the bed itself before putting your heel on the floor.
Feet are very important as they are the main weight bearing joints for the body hence it is necessary to be pain free in the feet area as any pain in the feet can affect the bio-mechanics of entire body.

Heel pain especially more in the morning can be due to plantarfascitis or a calf muscle trigger or in some cases due to some nerve impingement in the back area.
You can dip your legs for 10 minutes in warm water and then 10 minutes in normal tap water twice a day. Icing for 10 minutes 2-3 times a day on the heel also helps. Before sleeping do some calf stretches and you can roll your foot on a tennis ball for 1-2 minutes.
If this is not helping then please see a physiotherapist and they will accordingly evaluate and treat accordingly with Ultrasound, calf stretches, release of plantarfascia etc. as need be.

Uric acid usually happens because of improper excretion. Please make sure you have a lot of water and constantly flush it out and don’t hold it. Also reduce the intake of anything citric and sour in your diet for a few months

Heel pain is usually due to plantar fasciitis, trigger points in the calf muscles referring pain to the heel or due to a calcaneal spur. It could also be due to your core muscles being weak and putting stress wrongly on the heels of your feet or due to wrong footwear.
Please see a physiotherapist once, they need to do a detailed evaluation to understand the diagnosis and accordingly advise the treatment.
To begin with you can soak your feet in a bucket of tap water for 10 minutes followed by soaking them in warm water with some salt in it for 10 minutes every night before sleeping. This usually relieves the pain a bit but you need to definitely understand the diagnosis of it by going to a physiotherapist,
