My grand daughter aged 8 years is underweight weighing abt 18 kg. She is very active otherwise. Can you suggest something to gain weight?

Ans: Ensure she has three proper meals
Increase protein rich food items
Cut out junk food, biscuits and sweets which reduce appetite

Ans: - High protein diet
- Plant based protein sources: Legumes(pulses,dals, lentils,sprouts)
-Nuts&Seeds(almonds, pistachio, seasme seeds,flaxseeds)
-Tofu
-Pseudocereals
(amaranth,buckwheat)

Animal based protein sources -
-dairy in all forms,
-eggs,
-organ meats,
-seafood

- 30,min exercise every day

My daughter age 7 year complete but her weight is 14.100 kgs and thin body, we have used lots of vitamins medicine, but not so effective. Her family doctor said that don't worry, nothing issue,

Ans: If her birth weight was low and her weight gain has always been slow along with a below normal height then she may need hormonal evaluation eg thyroid hormone , growth hormone. A pediatric
endocrinologist will be able to guide you in this.
Ensure a good protein intake along with carbohydrates.

Hi My Daughter is 6 Years Old. She is very slow eater and eats very small portion of Food. Her weight is 14 Kg and Height is also low. Kindly suggest how to improve her Food intake and height?

Ans: She will need to be examined for anemia and other nutritional deficiencies. Blood tests may be needed too
My advice is no TV or phone during meal time and no junk food in between meals especially sweet things

Requesting you not to panic at this early stage. Let her appear for JEE session 2 and the state-level engineering entrance test. Let all the results out. You have ample time to think about the available options for engineering admission. At this stage, no need to think about management quota unless and until you want a particular branch in a particular college. Depending on her score in upcoming exams, she may get admission to reputed engineering either in Pune or Bengaluru
