Hi, I am 35 yrs old male. Since the last 1-2 years whenever I lift any heavy weight for a short time (eg. lifting grocery bags, or pulling something heavy) I experience a bit of heaviness in my chest. I feel like taking longer breaths for the rest of the day. However if I lie down & take rest for some time for around 1 hr, this heaviness goes off. This behavior was never observed earlier in my lifetime. Also one important point - I am actively into sports & fitness since my childhood. I have undergone strict fitness regimes in my teens (Biweekly marathons, swimming, sports etc). Currently I am still actively into sports on a daily basis. My weight, food intake, sleep are normal and on time. Thanks for your guidance.

Intercostal muscle strains could be a reason for this musculoskeletal chest pain. Have you spoken to a doctor about this? It could also be because of other mental and physical health conditions including stress, anxiety, and lung complications. Please consult a physician and address this issue asap. Even though you are a fitness oriented person, there might be something else in your interval system that needs attention.
