Hi, my name is XYZ I am appearing for ugc net exam from 2018 onwards but, in 2018 p1 I fetched good marks but failed in p2 , then I got admission in phd 2019 . I filled up the ugc net exam 2019 but due to lack of preparation and pressure of fuflling course work and synopsis in phd i couldn't study for ugc net exam and I failed again. Later , Covid started and again due to depression and anxiety in phd journey i couldn't get proper focus on my study and suddenly the syllabus got changed and again I went to depression. 2021 i didn't filled up the form. Again I started preparing for UGC net exam but was confused on where to take coaching. But, I was able to do PhD thesis writing but still going through so much depression and anxiety and health issues. Still not able to crack exam. This was going on till 2023. Somehow I completed my doctorate degree in 2023 . Then I joined the unacademy course and suddenly from whom I was studying due to their internal conflicts they went away and opened their own study center . I got all the materials and joined as assistant professor in a college but due to time constraints , I could only download all the study materials. During, my working journey, I faced lots of manipulations and politics in work area where it again impacted my depression and anxiety. So, I left the work place. While working there, again I started applying for ugc net exam but without proper preparation I kept on failing. In 2024 year I left the work in October and started preparing for my ugc net exam. I was humiliated by relatives for not getting married and jobs again in January 2025. But, I still gave exam scored little bit good marks then previous exams but still failed. Now 2025 onwards I am preparing for again but still not getting confident enough and covering all syllabus and doing test series and mock test. I am not able to complete my target and consistency. I am also not able to do publication in between and write papers.

Ans: HI,
You did not mention about specialisation. Share with me.

Commerce, specialization in marketing, management and finance, with knowledge of statistical analysis
Ans: Hi,
Sorry to hear about your problems.
Politics and Bribe start from home.
Do one job at a time, so that you can concentrate.
If you want to appear for UGC net exam to qualify, initially you spend time collecting the materials relevant to the exam or preparing the notes for the same. For that 6 months is required and then proceed to apply. Without preparation, if you apply for a competitive exam, you can't succeed. So do accordingly.
Now, instead of wasting your time writing articles for a publication, go for patenting the work, if your research work is novel and genuine. This will be a credit to you as well as to our country.
To publish a paper in the journal, the author or authors need to pay publishing charges (fraud) from Rs.1500 to 2.0L to journals. If your research work is novel and genuine instead of asking money from the authors, the journal has to pay instead.
But here the scenario is different, the institutions are supporting these types of journals.
In the publishing market, many journals are charging fees as publishing fees in the range between Rs. 1500 to Rs. 2.0 Lakhs.
Once the article is selected after review, then it should reflect in search engines like Google but this will not happen with some of the articles that are published (the journal admin will share the link to open the article). These journals are fake and resemble the original.
So, scholars are paying publishing fees unnecessarily and they are losing money as well as the credit due to this type of journal.
The pathetic situation is not known to many researchers that Scopus does only INDEXING and checking the quality of the article.
Instead of struggling this much, you would have chosen CA and you would have completed the course.

Ans: I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling this way, but I can offer some guidance and support to help you regain your motivation and find success again.

Recognize that setbacks are normal: It's important to understand that setbacks and challenges are a part of life. Many successful individuals have faced failures before achieving their goals. It's essential to see this phase as a temporary setback rather than a reflection of your worth or abilities.

Take care of your mental and physical health: Your well-being should be your top priority. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, eating nutritious meals, and engaging in regular exercise. Taking care of your physical health can positively impact your mental well-being and help you regain focus and motivation.

Seek support: Talk to someone you trust about your feelings. It could be a family member, friend, or a professional counselor. Sharing your emotions can provide relief and help you gain a fresh perspective on your situation. Additionally, professional guidance can assist you in developing coping strategies and setting realistic goals.

Set small, achievable goals: Rather than overwhelming yourself with the pressure of becoming successful immediately, break down your ultimate goal of becoming a doctor into smaller, manageable steps. Celebrate each milestone you achieve, no matter how small. This will help you stay motivated and build momentum.

Learn from your experiences: Reflect on the challenges you've faced and the mistakes you've made. Use them as opportunities for growth and learning. Understand that setbacks can provide valuable lessons that contribute to future success. Embrace a growth mindset that sees failures as stepping stones toward improvement.

Rediscover your passion: Reconnect with your love for becoming a doctor. Remember why you initially pursued this dream and the impact you hope to make in people's lives. Reignite your passion by researching inspiring stories, engaging in related activities, or volunteering in healthcare settings.

Develop a routine and study plan: Establish a structured routine that includes dedicated study time. Break down your syllabus into manageable portions and create a study plan to cover all the necessary topics. Consistency and discipline will help you regain focus and make progress toward your goals.

Celebrate your strengths: Acknowledge your past achievements and the strengths that have helped you succeed in the past. Remind yourself of your abilities and the qualities that make you unique. Cultivating a positive self-image can boost your confidence and motivation.

Stay positive and resilient: Avoid dwelling on negative thoughts or comparing yourself to others. Remember that everyone has their own journey, and success comes at different times for different people. Maintain a positive outlook, even during challenging times, and believe in your ability to overcome obstacles.

Take breaks and practice self-care: It's important to take breaks and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Engage in hobbies, spend time with loved ones, or engage in mindfulness practices like meditation or yoga. Self-care is essential for maintaining a healthy balance in life.

Remember, success is a journey, and setbacks are part of the process. Stay resilient, believe in yourself, and keep moving forward. With determination, perseverance, and the right support, you can regain your harmony, rediscover your path, and achieve your dreams.

Ans: Hello,
first of all, you need to calm down & settle down your negative thought process. At least you are clear & honest enough to admit your mistakes. That's the first step towards success.

Decide your goal & make a road map to achieve it. Follow it diligently & avoid distractions that come along the journey. If you are unable to control your negative thoughts seek professional counseling. All the best.

Sir ,I have been preparing for government exams since 2018 June firstly I prepare for gate in 2019 with college semester in 2019 gate result I.e, 2019 March I qualify with 46 marks that's somehow good score that time for me because I prepare with self study due to over confidence and lack of family income I didn't join coaching and started preparing for UPSC engineering services with full dedication at the age of 20.5 in 2019 eligible for ese 2020 with 21 yr age somehow I got 150 around marks and didn't qualify prelims that time cut off around 240 due to railway has taken his seats so UR cut off increase by 60 which is 188 last in 2019 ese so I got in depression that I prepare with full dedication and even I have a gap of 100 marks in prelims so somehow I came to home in june 2020 after a huge gap of depression in 4,5 months in delhi and started for gate and ese again same condition I couldn't even qualify prelims and got covid in 2021 and from that 2021 I joined UNACADEMY work 1.5 yrs and again I started preparation due to less salary now I have a gap of 5 years no masters degree no industrial skillls and family income less than 20k per month what should I do go and search for civil engineering related job or build a confidence and again prepare one more attempt
Ans: I have gone through the details of your Efforts, Failures, Depression & Your family’s Economic condition.

Based on the above factors, here are the suggestions for you:

1) Till your age bars, try to attempt other comparatively easier (than UPSC) Competitive Exams for Government Jobs & prepare daily for 2-3 hours before & after you come back from work.

2) But AVOID attempting those Competitive Exams which you have already done a number of times and failed. Lack of change in preparation strategies / change in Govt. Policy are the reasons for your subsequent failures.

3) Keeping in view your family’s economic condition & your AGE now, it is suggested to DEFINITELY go for any work, related to your domain, to support your family.

4) Try to upgrade your skills by joining short-term courses with any Institute, related to your domain (or) any other domain you are passionate over. However, make sure that the Institute you join provides JOB GUARANTEE after you complete the Course. Or you can join any ONLINE Courses which are much in demand in job-market.

5) If time does not permit for you to prepare for Competitive Exams & if you feel you are highly demotivated for Govt. Exams, it is advisable for you to fully FOCUS on your Career, related to Civil Engineering & gain good experience.

Hope I have clarified your doubts.

If you need any other clarifications or have questions for anyone, post your questions (in detail) to me and/or follow me here in RediffGURU for more useful information on ‘Careers / Education / Jobs’.
