Hi.
I am Anand, aged 45 years, working in Bengaluru as a tender coordinator.
My questions:
In this present company, they don’t give leave benefits. When I take leave, they deduct my salary. I’m working here since August 2017.
Should I quit this job and start my own business?
Can you please guide me?

Hi Anand.

First of all, your employer is legally liable to provide paid leave. You must raise this issue with your management along with other colleagues.

You can even take the matter to the labour authorities.

At the same time, leaving your job without a proper back-up plan is not at all advisable.

If you want to start your own business, make a proper plan first and see if you can test it before you leave your job.

Dear Mayank, I am Ahmed, aged 56 years, working in Chennai as an admin staff. My questions: I am working in this present company for the past 20 years. They don’t give any labour benefits such as ESI, PF, etc. Now the management has decided to shut down the business all of a sudden, mentioning loss. Can I get any compensation for my long years of service as I cannot get any job at this age? If yes, please guide me how to move further. Or should I quit this job when the company is closed after serving them for such a long period without any compensation from them? Can you please guide me? Thanks Ahmed

This is an unfortunate and tricky situation.

I would recommend that you ask for compensation from your company.

If they refuse, you must approach the labour department for your statutory dues after so many years of service.

I am an honest and very hardworking PSU employee (BSNL) since 2014 who perform all duties with carefulness but when I see my colleagues and controlling officers just pass on responsibilities like a postman delivers mails, i think of switching to private sector for career growth. Now, I am 35 plus and with two young children and old age parents with wife not working post marriage due to family responsibilities. Is it worth to leave BSNL and take a risk of leaving secure job? Pl reply. I want to leave this organisation because there is no scope left in it for career progression. Management intentionally wants to keep on delaying promotion opportunities for employees so that hard working employee leaves the sick organisation to die in the hands of unprofessional staff.

as per last year's cutoff you are not eligible for JOSAA counselling. You can improve your score and get admissions in your dream college. Control negatives, don't give into the temptation of marking the option if you are not sure, options are designed that way, you commit a mistake and you will get a wrong answer there waiting to be marked.
30-35 questions correctly answered without any negative marking can get you your desired college.
