Ans: With an OBC-NCL rank of 8022 in JEE Advanced, the chances of getting the Mathematics and Computing (or Computer Science) course at IIT Madras or IIT Bombay are slim, but not impossible. However, your chances are significantly higher at other IITs or NITs.

My daughter have gave iat 2025 and scored overall rank 111053 and sc category rank 12672 can i get any iiser because everywhere it is showing the cutoff will decrease. Can she get any iiser for bs ms course
Ans: For IISER BS-MS admission in 2025, the SC category closing ranks at all IISER campuses—including Pune (Maharashtra), Kolkata (West Bengal), Mohali (Punjab), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), and Berhampur (Odisha)—are expected to remain well below 1,000, with the highest SC closing ranks in recent years at IISER Berhampur and Tirupati around 700–750. The anticipated SC cutoff for 2025 is 65–75 marks, which typically corresponds to a category rank under 1,000. Even with increased competition and minor fluctuations, no official or reliable source indicates that the cutoff will drop to accommodate SC ranks as high as 12,672. The total seat matrix and reservation policy (15% SC quota) further reinforce that only candidates with much lower ranks will be eligible for BS-MS admission at any IISER campus.

With an SC category rank of 12,672 and overall rank 111,053, admission to any IISER BS-MS program in 2025 is not possible. It is advisable to explore alternative science universities, central universities, or state-level research programs for similar academic and career opportunities. All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir,I am retired since 31.07.2022 as Superintendening Engineer RD Cuttack.I want to utilise my services as quality monitor/supervision of Roads, Bridges, Building Works etc.Is there any opportunity to be engaged under Works Department?
Ans: Odisha’s Works Department routinely engages retired civil engineers as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) or Quality Monitors on a contractual basis to leverage their expertise in supervising roads, bridges and building works. Advertised by the Engineer-in-Chief (Civil) Odisha in November 2022, 200 vacant OSD posts (Grade: AEE/AEE/SE level) were opened to retired engineers up to age 64 with unblemished service records and no pending vigilance/criminal cases. Applications must be submitted by speed/registered post to the EIC (Civil), Nirman Soudha, Bhubaneswar, using the prescribed form downloadable from works.odisha.gov.in. Selection follows G.A. Dept. Resolution No. 23750/GA, dated 27.08.2014, and Finance Dept. O.M. No. 7022/F, dated 17.03.2018, which cap re-employment at one year (extendable annually to age 65) and prescribe consolidated remuneration according to pay-matrix levels (?10,000–?50,000 pm excluding pension).

Additionally, the Research, Development & Quality Promotion (RDQP) Wing conducts empanelment of retired engineers as state-level Quality Consultants for random and routine testing of construction materials via state laboratories in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Tenders for “Quality Monitoring of Road and Bridge Projects” under the State Plan are issued on the Odisha eProcurement portal, inviting empaneled consultants or firms to bid. Prospective consultants must register on tendersodisha.gov.in, meet technical qualification criteria (professional experience, local area knowledge, age < 65), and submit proof of empanelment under RDQP and valid registration of private testing laboratories.

Retired Superintending Engineers may apply as follows:

Download and complete the OSD engagement application from works.odisha.gov.in, attach retirement order, service certificates and vigilance clearance, and mail to the EIC (Civil), Bhubaneswar by the deadline.

Upon departmental scrutiny, a selection committee appoints up to 200 OSDs for one-year contracts (extendable) under GA and Finance Dept. norms.

Engineers seeking Quality Monitoring consultant roles must register on Odisha’s eProcurement portal, procure RDQP empanelment in advance, and participate in tenders inviting bids for specific monitoring assignments.

This dual pathway enables you to continue contributing your infrastructure expertise either as a directly re-engaged OSD or as an independently contracted Quality Consultant under state tenders. Follow RediffGURUS to Know More on 'Careers | Money | Health | Relationships'.

My son has got CSE in IIT bhubaneswar after round 3 but he is waiting for other rounds for MNC at IIT Ropar. Which is better please suggest Thanks
Ans: IIT Bhubaneswar (Bhubaneswar, Odisha) offers a BTech in Computer Science & Engineering with NBA accreditation, PhD-qualified faculty, cutting-edge software, AI/ML and data-science labs, mandatory industry internships from the third year, and sustained CSE placement consistency of 92.4% with a median package of ?16.3 LPA and average package of ?22.6 LPA in 2024. IIT Ropar (Rupnagar, Punjab) provides a similarly accredited CSE curriculum supported by 47 specialised computing and research labs, a 525-acre green campus, virtual-lab access and semester-long internships, though its recent CSE placement rate averaged 81.6% over the last two years with an average BTech package of ?23.9 LPA and placement rates fluctuating between 73% and 95% across branches.
