Hi, I'm Vineet! I'm a pcb student and gonna give isolated maths in Feb 2025. Am I eligible to apply for IAT and later on to take admission in IISc Bangalore and IISER's??

Ans: For the IAT (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Aptitude Test), there are no "compulsory" subjects in the sense that you must take all of them; however, you must have studied at least three subjects out of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics in your Class XII to be eligible to take the exam, meaning you can choose to take only three of these four subjects depending on your stream. You are totally eligible for appearing in IAT and can take admission in IISc Bangalore. About IISER you are advised to do required research in internet. Best of luck. Dear sir/mam. I'm a girl of age 17 studying in 12 currently. I plan to write the IAT exam to get into IISc Bangalore. By any chance, i don't make it. Can i apply for IIT Madras with the same marks. And please do give me some guidance to prepare for the IAT exam 2025. Thank you.
Ans: You have not mentioned, you are studying in which Board? State? CBSE? Other Boards? Please note, (1) Out of 240 marks, you should score minimum 220 & 210 for IISC & IIT-Madras respectively (2) You have to be thorough with all concepts of NCERT of both 11th & 12th Standard (if you belong to CBSE, will be easier for you) (3) Prepare your Short Notes for each chapter for Revision (4) If you have joined any Coaching Center, it will be an added advantage as only NCERT is not enough (5) As per Market scheme of IAT, you have -1 negative marks also for wrongly answered questions. So, to maintain speed and accuracy, you should keep practicing all 4-subjects in the order of Mathematics, Physics, Biology & Chemistry (6) Keep a separate note-book for wrongly answered questions / its answers, after you have attempted offline / online test series (7) Most students commit the mistakes of NOT revising the wrongly answered / tough / complicated / questions which consume a lot of time and which need speed and accuracy. (8) Study for 35-minutes and leave a break of 10-minutes to get maximum output. If you continue studying beyond 35-minutes, your concentration power will go down and your output also which you should avoid (9) Do some yoga or meditation or involve in any other physical activities for at least 30 minutes daily to keep yourself physically and mentally fit. (10) Early morning, prefer to study Maths (11) Everyday before going to bed, you should definitely revise what you have studied during the day at least for 30-40 minutes. (12) Every week-end also, you should keep revising whatever you have covered. In spite of taking all these efforts, please have Plan B & Plan C (as back-ups). Avoid relying only on IAT.
