Hello Dr. I am 43 and suffering from sleep issues since 3-4 years, i am on high BP (Amlopidine 5 mg Telmastartin , hypothyroid, cholesterol and uric acid medicines. Have tried various Ayurveda and Herbal treatment but nothing worked, i do get sleep but its not deep sleep and next day i feel little drowsy and light heavy headedness. Kindly advise
Ans: You can try to improve your sleep hygeine - i.e
Try to go to sleep and wake up at the sametime everyday — even on weekends and holidays.
Avoid consuming caffeine at least 6 hrs before bedtime. .
Make your sleeping environment comfortable.
One hour before bedtime, stop doing work or other mentally-challenging tasks.
Use your bed only for sleep or intimacy.
If you are stressed , relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation before bedtime might help.
Regular exercise, a balnaced diet and adequate fluid intake might help.
Can try taking melatonin 3 mg 1 hr before bed time.
If these measures don't work , you should consult a sleep specialist
