I have purchased 4000 shares of Sadhna Broadcast @ 26.77 in 2022 upon a news channel's report that it is being taken over by a big media house. The share shot upto nearly 30 per share during that period. I too jumped into the frenzied lot and bought 4000 shares. now it is trading at 3.5. I realised that the news was false and the surge in the price was manipulated. Can anyone advise me what exactly is the status of this company and is there any chance of some recovery of this share price?

Ans: its a managed stock with 75% public holding, exit and never invest in such garbage.
Decline in Net Profit with falling Profit Margin (QoQ)
Decline in Quarterly Net Profit with falling Profit Margin (YoY)
Degrowth in Revenue, Profits and Operating Profit Margin in recent results (QoQ)

Ans: not tracking such companies - but it looks difficult for 25 unless you hold it for 5yrs as Sugar industry looks good.

For property sold in January 2025 after 15 years of ownership, for the purpose of capitals gains tax calculations, is indexation still applicable under the current tax schemes? If indexation is applicable, will indexation be calculated on the cost of acquisition as well as the cost of any improvement on this property? If instead of paying the tax directly at this moment, if I want to invest the money in a property but do not have a property ready right now, can I opt for a CGAS account to put the capital gains amount in that account for the purpose of investing the amount in a property in the future? In that case, what happens if I fail to find a desirable property within 2 years? Do I have other options then? Also, when do I have to open this CGAS account - before the end of the financial year March 31 or before tax filing deadline July 31, 2025?

Ans: If the property is purchased on or before 22nd July 2024, then only indexation benefit can be taken.
Cost of acquisition and improvement both shall be eligible
You can keep the gain in CAGS and should be utilised with in 2 years for purchase or 3 years for construction of house
If you fail to invest in new property within given time frame, the capital gain exemption claimed earlier shall be withdrawn and Tax shall be payable along with Interest.
CAGS should be opened and funded within 6 months from date of sale or due date of filing of Return of Income, whichever is Earlier

My Mother had purchased a flat on her name in Mumbai in the year April 1985, She passed away in Oct 2024. My self and My elder sister have now transferred the flat in our both names jointly (We Both are now NRI's). What are the tax implications if we want to sell this flat now? What's is the best way to sell with lower tax?

Ans: Since it is transferred in Oct 2024 or later, if you sell it before 2 years from the date of transfer in your nmae, it shall be short term capital gain and wont be allowed any capital gain exemptions. You shall be eligible for exemptions only on Long Term Capital gain, so you will have to sell the flat 2 years after the date of transfer of flat in your names.
