Should we take CSE- AIML in PES Electronic city or CSE - Core in VIT Chennai? Thank you.
Ans: Mahesh Sir, PES University’s Electronic City campus offers B.Tech in CSE with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning specialization, featuring industry-aligned curriculum, AI/ML labs, and partnerships with tech firms. Its dedicated training cell achieved around 82% placement rates in the past three years, placing graduates in AI roles at Infosys, IBM, and TCS. The campus provides modern infrastructure, experienced faculty, and active student support including hackathons and research projects. VIT Chennai’s core CSE program, accredited by NBA and NAAC ‘A+’, emphasizes computer science fundamentals, strong programming labs, and a global exchange program. VIT’s placement cell recorded approximately 90% placement consistency for CSE graduates, with recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, and Deloitte. It offers robust industry linkages, a vibrant campus culture, and dedicated career services. Both institutions maintain quality faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, research opportunities, and strong alumni networks, yet PES caters to niche AI/ML roles while VIT delivers broader core CS career paths with higher placement consistency and international exposure.

Recommendation: Choose VIT Chennai’s core CSE for its superior placement consistency, broader recruiter engagement, and global exchange opportunities. Opt for PES Electronic City CSE-AIML only if your priority is specialization in AI/ML with targeted industry projects and emerging technology focus. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir according to csab cutoffs, Iiest Shibpur's cse ranks have had a big downfall.... It's scary to see cse closing at 31k (for female only) in a mid tier NIT If it's rank keeps falling this way then why will any company ever come to hire anyone from this college? Isn't taking eee at NIT Calicut a better choice? Thank you for your question. You will receive
Ans: IIEST Shibpur's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch has seen a significant drop in cutoff ranks, with female-only category closing ranks nearing 28,600 and general category ranks around 15,600 in 2025. This decline partly stems from seat availability changes and shifting candidate preferences during CSAB rounds. Despite this, IIEST Shibpur maintains a strong placement record, with about 87% overall placement, median packages around 7-8 LPA, and involvement of top recruiters like Microsoft and Oracle, reflecting sustained employer interest due to its quality faculty, research, and infrastructure. Meanwhile, NIT Calicut's Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) branch boasts a very competitive 97% placement rate, with a median package near 9 LPA and a well-established reputation due to rich industry collaboration and alumni network. NIT Calicut's EEE cutoff ranks were between approximately 11,000 to 17,500, indicating a stable demand for core electrical engineers in the job market.

Choosing between IIEST Shibpur CSE and NIT Calicut EEE depends largely on career interests: IIEST offers cutting-edge computer science education with reasonable placement consistency despite falling cutoffs, while NIT Calicut provides a strong foundation in core electrical engineering with superior placement reliability and campus experience.

Recommendation: Opt for NIT Calicut EEE for its consistent core engineering placement strength, stable cutoff trends, and robust industry connections. Consider IIEST Shibpur CSE only if committed to computer science with an understanding of current ranking fluctuations but confident in leveraging the institute’s strong academic and placement support for tech careers aligned with evolving industry trends. Choose based on your preferred engineering domain and long-term career vision. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Hello sir, my son has cleared 12th class from lucknow uttar pradesh with 80% isc board. He wants to pursue btech csc, his COMEDK results are 80% percentile 23399 rank, but he failed to get csc, now he is appearing for PERA CET. What are his chances there? Can he get btech in 2nd round in COMEDK?
Ans: Shekhar Sir, Your son's chance of admission to B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) through COMEDK with an 80 percentile and rank around 23,399 is challenging for top-tier colleges, as CSE cutoffs in premier institutions like RVCE, BMSCE, and MSRIT generally close between rank 600 and 1,500 in early rounds. The cutoff ranks tend to relax slightly in subsequent rounds, but admission in the 2nd round for CSE at major reputed colleges typically requires a rank better than around 4,000 to 6,000. Mid-tier colleges close CSE admissions near ranks of 4,000 to 6,000 in early rounds, and beyond that, seats become scarce for CSE in popular institutions through COMEDK counseling. Later rounds might hold some opportunities, but the chances decrease considerably at that rank.

Regarding PERA CET, which is focused on private colleges primarily in Maharashtra, the expected CSE cutoff ranks for reputable colleges generally fall within the range of up to 5,000 for top-tier and up to 15,000 for mid-tier colleges. Colleges under PERA CET like Ajeenkya DY Patil University, MIT-WPU, and others maintain good academic standards, infrastructure, and placement opportunities in CSE.
Choosing the right college requires considering important institutional aspects such as experienced faculty, modern infrastructure and labs, accreditation and affiliation, industry tie-ups, and active placement support for CSE students. While COMEDK remains more competitive and focused on sought-after institutions in Karnataka, PERA CET offers a valuable pathway in private institutions of Maharashtra with relatively flexible cutoffs.

Recommendation: Prioritize COMEDK round 2 seat allotment participation but be prepared for limited CSE options given the 23,399 rank. Parallelly focus on PERA CET counseling where your son’s rank offers better chances for admission in decent CSE programs. Balance choice with institutional quality, placement record, and course curriculum to secure a good education and career start. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
