Hello, just wanted to know ,between NIT Surathkal ,B tech( Computational Data Science), and BITS ,BE ( Mathematics and Computing), which is a better alternative, in both curriculum and placement?. Thank you.

Ans: Hi,

I would like to suggest an alternative to pursuing data science and mathematics or computing; I recommend considering core engineering, such as Computer Science Engineering (CSE).

While studying CSE, you can take online courses related to the subjects you mentioned as an add-on.

Recently, the Indian Drug Department (CDSCO) released draft guidelines to include engineering graduates as Medical Devices Inspectors (Drug Inspectors), in addition to pharmacy graduates, due to market demand. This trend is expected to be reflected in state government roles as well. Therefore, before making a comparison between these two options, please consider the benefits of a core course.

Hello Sir, i wanted to know ,between B tech in NIT Surathkal ( Computational Data Science), and B tech in DJ Sanghvi ( Data Science and AI), which is a better prospect ,both in curriculum structure and placements. Thank you.
Ans: Mithun, NIT Surathkal's B.Tech Computational and Data Science program started in 2022 with a strong mathematical foundation and interdisciplinary curriculum combining scientific computing, machine learning, and statistical modeling under the Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. DJ Sanghvi's B.Tech AI and Data Science, established in 2021, offers comprehensive coverage of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics with industry-focused practical training. Both programs are relatively new with limited placement data history. NIT Surathkal's overall placement rate consistently exceeds 90-100% with top recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google offering packages ranging from 12-55 LPA across departments. DJ Sanghvi maintains 96% placement rate with AI-DS branch achieving 56% placement (37 out of 66 students) and median salary of 8.10 LPA, while computer science branches demonstrate stronger performance. The curriculum structure reveals NIT Surathkal emphasizes mathematical rigor with 160 credits including advanced topics like cryptography, reliability theory, and scientific computing, whereas DJ Sanghvi focuses on practical AI applications with courses in large language models, semantic web, and industry-relevant technologies. NIT Surathkal benefits from established NIT brand recognition, superior infrastructure, research opportunities, and stronger alumni networks, while DJ Sanghvi offers Mumbai location advantages and direct industry connections.?
NIT Surathkal B.Tech Computational and Data Science represents the superior choice due to prestigious NIT brand value, stronger mathematical foundation, established placement ecosystem, better long-term career prospects, and comprehensive research opportunities despite both programs being newly established. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
