Hi, My haemoglobin a1c is 9.3.my blood glucose fasting is 180, post prandial 340. What kind of foods I need to avoid and I am vegetarian. 41yr at 95kg.pls advise Sathish

Ans: Prioritize dietary changes to help manage your diabetes. Avoid refined carbohydrates like white bread, white rice, and pasta.
Refrain from sugary cereals and baked goods, sweets, candies, and desserts. and beverages. Processed Foods like chips, and fast and fried foods should be strictly avoided. High-fat dairy products like full-fat milk, cheese, and yogurt should be refrained. Include high-fiber foods like leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and bell peppers and fruits like berries, apples (with skin), and pears. Whole grains like oats, quinoa, barley, and brown rice contain complex carbs which will not spike blood sugar levels. Protein-rich foods like beans, lentils, and chickpeas, low -fat dairy products and nuts and seeds are excellent low glycemic index foods. Keep track of your blood sugar levels.

I am 55 years old, weight 115, height is 183 cms blood sugar level fasting 188 PP is 205 please advice what type of diet I should follow.

Ans: Fasting blood sugar levels of 188 is indicative of Diabetes. To control blood sugar spikes, you need to reduce weight by lowering your body fat percentage. A diet with complex carbohydrates like whole wheat , quinoa , Brown rice , oats , Broken wheat (dalia), sprouts , lentils , salads , green leafy vegetables and whole fruits should be taken in diet as they help in delaying the process of sugar release from foods. Small and frequent meals to be taken. A brisk walk for minimum 30 minutes 5 days a week is compulsory. Exercise is important to lose body fa and increase lean mass.

Sir I am 54 years old , 6 feet 1 inches around 83 kgs , I am recently diagnosed with 141 fasting sugar and hbcg 7.1 , first time such a spike my physician has told me change diet avoid rice,potato and carbs , do daily walking for 1 hour , I am pure vegetarian , need to know what diet to follow is jaggery good for me , for the next 3 months I need to follow a strict regime loose 5 kgs and get my sugar in control , please guide me with my diet, I have stopped rice , having jowar , ragi n bajara ka roti , at the end of three months if my sugar levels don't go back to normal then I will have to start with diabetic medicines , sir all my blood reports are perfect lipid profile , creatine , b12 , vit d , potassium , esr , cardiac risk markers , tsh etc thanking you

Ans: - Avoid sugar, honey and jaggery in the diet
- Avoid processed & packaged foods
- Reduce the overall carb consumption - which also includes millets
- Include protein & healthy fat with all your meals
- Excercise regularly - 30min/day and include weight training - 3times/week
- Quality sleep - 8hrs/day
- Manage stress

I am 60 years old . My weight is 71 kg. I am diabetic from last 27 years old. I used to medicine as well as insulin. Ajaduo 10/5 mg and Ryjodec insulin 22 unit before day meal n at night linvas tab n insulin 16 unit . Today my fasting sugar was 74 . Also measure hba1c n found 6.2 %. Average blood sugar found to be 131. Pl advice what types of food i should follow. Also exercise. I used to do yoga n morning walk regularly. Thanks.

Ans: Get your blood sugar checked at five times on the same day
1.as you wakeup beforebreakfast
2.an hour after breakfast
3. Two hrs after lunch
4.before dinner and
5.an hour after dinner
Consult a Nutritionist for a detailed menu for your consituition
Overall have early dinner
Avoid heavy animal protein for dinner meal
Regular physical exercise like brisk walking 30 mts a day five days a week

Requesting you not to panic at this early stage. Let her appear for JEE session 2 and the state-level engineering entrance test. Let all the results out. You have ample time to think about the available options for engineering admission. At this stage, no need to think about management quota unless and until you want a particular branch in a particular college. Depending on her score in upcoming exams, she may get admission to reputed engineering either in Pune or Bengaluru
