I am 59 years old and diabetic for last 26 years. Recently my Hb1ac reading is 8.4 & fasting sugar level is 175 I am under medication of GLIMISAVE MV2 at half an hour before breakfast and GLURA M1000 after Breakfast with 3 glasses of water. I take GLIMISAVE MV2 half an hour before Dinner. I am fairly active and walk 4kms everyday without any break. I do have a fondness of sweets and addiction of tea(black & milk tea) without sugar added. My height is 163 cms and weight is 68 kg Please suggest me some remedies to correct my blood sugar level. Thankd

Ans: Managing blood sugar levels through diet is crucial for overall health. Choose foods with a low GI which will cause slower and more gradual increases in blood sugar levels. Examples include whole grains, legumes (such as lentils and chickpeas), non-starchy vegetables (like spinach and broccoli), and lean proteins (such as chicken and fish). Include high-fiber foods which slow down digestion and help stabilize blood sugar levels. Consume protein-rich foods like eggs, lean meat, legumes, etc. Sugary foods and refined carbohydrates (like white bread and sugary snacks) cause rapid spikes in blood sugar, so avoid them. Exercise regularly.

I m 47 years old with current weight at 76 kg hieght 5ft 7 inch. I had borderline diabetes with Hb1Ac. 6.8 , weight 84kg in June 22. With diet control n morning walk for one hour , Hb1Ac now in range of 5.6, Fasting sugar at 10. I am without sugar medicines since September 22. My weight has been stagnant at 76kg for last 6 months. Pls advise how further i can improve my blood glucose level n reduce my stagnant weight

Ans: I think you are doing quite well. You have managed to get off the diabtes medications and have lost 8 kg in about 7 months. Subsequent weight loss is going to be much slower. I think you just need to continue with what you are doing at present (in terms of diet and exercise) . Further weight loss is going to be a very slow process. Your HbA1C levels are reasonable now. You must however understand that if you have a genetic predisposition to diabetes, diet and exercise can at best delay the onset of diabetes but may not be able to completely prevent it in the long run.

Ma'm I am diabetic for the last 10 years. I regularly take Ryzodec insulin twice (26 units in the morning before breakfast and 14 units in the night before dinner). I also consume high power medicines on a regular basis. For a remedy, I go for morning walk of 40-50 minutes which also consists of mild jogging and running. I stay away from deep fried food/snacks, any kind of snacks. I drink tea without milk and sugar. My morning starts with drinking Chirata( twice a week) and Karela Jamun Juice (Regularly). But even after following this routine on a daily basis my sugar level doesnot come to a satisfactory level; it always stays high and my HbA1C is 9.6. Kindly guide me what to do?

Ans: Hello Avik.. I understand that it’s very disappointing that even after following everything, HbA1c is not controlled.. I suggest you to go for AGM ( ambulatory glucose monitoring) and take proper dose of insulin and other medications.. if you are obese or overweight, weight reduction will help.. Consistency and discipline will help you to achieve better sugar control goals. Thank you.. I will be happy to help you.

Medication is being continued since a long time but glucose levels are still high... Fasting 140 and Post lunch 188. HbA1C ..8.20....suggestions pl regards

Ans: Managing Type 2 diabetes effectively, especially with an HbA1C of 8.2%, requires a combination of medication, diet, exercise, and lifestyle adjustments. As your glucose levels are still high, your doctor may need to adjust your dosage or add new medications. For dietary modifications, limit white rice, bread, and sugary foods. Opt for whole grains, legumes, and fiber-rich vegetables. Include lentils, tofu, nuts, and seeds to help stabilize blood sugar. Avocados, olive oil, and nuts can improve insulin sensitivity. Observe portion control and incorporate exercise & physical activity. Strength training improves insulin sensitivity and muscle glucose uptake. Drinking plenty of water helps flush excess glucose from the bloodstream.

My married ex still texts me for comfort. Because of him, I am unable to move on. He makes me feel guilty by saying he got married out of family pressure. His dad is a cardiac patient and mom is being treated for cancer. He comforts me by saying he will get separated soon and we will get married because he only loves me. We have been in a relationship for 14 years and despite everything we tried, his parents refused to accept me, so he chose to get married to someone who understands our situation. I don't know when he will separate from his wife. She knows about us too but she comes from a traditional family. She also confirmed there is no physical intimacy between them. I trust him, but is it worth losing my youth for him? Honestly, I am worried and very confused.

I understand how difficult it is to let go of a relationship you have built from scratch, but is it really how you want to continue? It really seems to be going nowhere. His parents are already in bad health and he married someone else for their happiness. Does it seem like he will be able to leave her? So many people’s happiness and lives depend on this one decision. I think it’s about time you and your BF have a clear conversation about the same. If he can’t give a proper timeline, please try to understand his situation. But also make sure he understands yours and maybe rethink this equation. It really isn’t healthy. You deserve a love you can have wholly, and not just in pieces, and in the shadows.

Hi Anu, My husband doesn't do house chores. We both work full-time, but I still end up cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry. When I ask for help, my partner will say, ‘Just tell me what to do,’ but then he conveniently forgets. Maybe he doesn't like it or he is genuinely forgetful. I have tried many ways to make him explain. Once I only did my share of laundry to make him realise but he simply ignored. Every week this pattern repeats. Is this normal? How can married couples divide responsibilities fairly to avoid fights?

Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Every home has a different routine and share of responsibilities. So, there's no standard norm to challenge it as normal or not!
So, if you want your husband to pitch in, then say it in clear terms, especially since he has told you to tell him what to do.
Once you have told him, do make sure to ask him: Will you find it convenient to do it now or later? If later, when?
This will ensure that he makes a statement of commitment, so there's no question of forgetting it, right? Play it smart...it's better than feeling bad about the situation or mulling over why something does not work.

I assume your son is not enrolled in any foundation program for the IIT Entrance Exam. He must enroll in good training institute, for a 2 year program. Please ensure the coaching is good, not some kind of franchisee taken by some local person. rest they will take care of. By 11th end his 70% syllabus must be over, means He starts in April 2026, then in Apr-May 2027 his 70% syllabus must have been completed.

My son will be appearing for JEE Main & JEE Advanced 2026 and will participate in JoSAA Counselling 2026. I request clarification regarding the GEN-EWS certificate date requirement for next year. I have already applied for an EWS certificate for current year 2025, and the application is under process. However, I am unsure whether this certificate will be accepted during JoSAA 2026, or whether candidates will be required to submit a fresh certificate for FY 2026–27 (issued on or after 1 April 2026). My concern is that if JoSAA requires a certificate issued after 1 April 2026, students will have only 1–1.5 months to complete the entire procedure, which is difficult considering normal government processing timelines. Also, during current JEE form filling, students are asked to upload a GEN-EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2025, or an application acknowledgement. This has created confusion among parents regarding which year’s certificate will finally be valid at the time of counselling. I request your kind guidance on: Which GEN-EWS certificate will be accepted for JoSAA Counselling 2026 — a certificate for FY 2025–26 (issued after 1 April 2025), or a new certificate for FY 2026–27 (issued after 1 April 2026)?

You need not worry about the EWS certificate. Even if you apply for the next year's certificate on 1 Apr 2026, the second session of JEE MAINS will still be held, followed by JEE ADVANCED, which will be held in May. JOSAA starts in June. so you will have 2 months in hand for fresh EWS certificate.
