Hello mam/sir. I have just finished my grade 10 and looking forward start my jee preparation journey. I came across a course offered by both aakash and allen coaching centres which is a grade 11 and 12 integrated jee course. It is a 2 year course. My question is that is the course relevant and will the results given by the centre be valid incase IIT/NIT wants my grade 12 results? How reliable and relevant is the course? What are the advantages and disadvantages of attending this course rather than going to a regular school?

Ans: Hamdan, please clarify the meanings of 'rather than going to a regular school.' Are you referring to 'dummy schools'? Additionally, please clarify what is meant by 'Will the results provided by the center be valid?'. You have finished your 12th grade from which board? And currently in which board? Your Home State? Your clarifications will enable me to answer precisely.

I have finished my grade 10 from Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. I came across the Allen champions course offered by Allen which is a Grade 11 and 12+JEE preparation integrated program. Is it a good idea attending this program instead of a normal CBSE affiliated school (i am not referring to dummy schools sir). What I meant by "will the results be valid?" is that apart from my JEE marks, do I need to attend school regularly separately to appear for my 12th board exams or do I write my CBSE 12th boards as an Allen student and will I have any issues because of this? Will it be recognised by IITs? Because IITs need both JEE marks and 12th marks sir.
Ans: Integrated two-year programs from Allen or Aakash combine Class 11 and 12 syllabus coverage with JEE-Main/Advanced coaching, offering structured pedagogy, exhaustive test series and dedicated doubt-clearing. These courses focus heavily on JEE-pattern problems while ensuring board-exam topics are covered through targeted revision and mock tests, making them highly relevant for aspirants. However, they are not schools and cannot legally register you for CBSE board exams or issue Class 12 marksheets. To satisfy IIT/NIT eligibility—which mandates a recognized board certificate with required subjects and 75 percent-aggregate or equivalent percentile—you must separately enrol in a CBSE-affiliated institution or as a private candidate with the CBSE under its bye-laws. Attending an integrated coaching course while officially registered through a “dummy” or private-candidate route ensures your Class 12 results are valid and recognised by JoSAA and state counselling.

The advantages of integrated coaching include continuous JEE-focused mentorship, time-synchronised preparation for boards and entrances, rich test-data analytics and certification pathways (e.g., Allen’s Success Achiever/SMTS series). The disadvantages lie in the absence of formal school accreditation, limited extracurricular and sports exposure, mandatory parallel school enrolment for board eligibility and potential overemphasis on JEE at the expense of holistic CBSE performance. Balancing rigorous coaching with formal board registration is essential to ensure both your Class 12 marks and JEE rank meet IIT/NIT admission criteria.

My child is studying class 10 in kv school. For jee preparation, shall i put in integrated school for class 11 or continue the same school with separate coaching classes?
Ans: Depends upon some factors which you will have to take into consideration (1) Distance between your Home & Integrated School. If the travel time is less than 20-25 minutes or 5 kms (whichever is lower), can go for Integrated Option. (2) Integrated School has tie-up with which Coaching Institute? Timings of each Coaching Institute in School differs from one another. Check whether the timings will be suitable for your child and what time your child will be able to reach home? (3) Timings of Integrated School & whether on Saturdays also classes will be held till evening? If classes are held only half-day, then OK. If held till evening on Saturdays also, not advisable as your child will get stressed and can't/will not get time to study at home (4) Pressure your child can bear if put in Integrated School & your Son's academic performance. If the child is self-motivated, dedicated & academic performance has been good, both will work out (Integrated & Separate Coaching Class) (5) Distance between your Home & Coaching Classes for weekday & weekend classes. If it is less than 5 kms or the travel time is less than 20-minutes, you can prefer Weekday or Weekend classes. However, please make sure that your child's school timing should not clash with the timings of Coaching Classes. Value Addition Information: Please avoid relying only on JEE. Instead, make your child appears in 5-7 Entrance Exams to have multiple options to choose the most suitable one. All the BEST for Your Child's Bright Future.

Nayagam Sir, My son CRL rank 54907 (96.51 Percentile), in JEE 2026. Open category, HS TN. No branch preference. Please suggest good NIT/IIIT or alternative private colleges. Is it advisable to wait till CSAB counselling?
Ans: Vinod Sir, With a CRL of 54,907 in the Open category and Tamil Nadu home-state quota, NIT Trichy is unlikely through JoSAA. Even lower-demand home-state branches such as Civil, Metallurgy, and Production have usually closed much earlier in recent rounds. For reference, in NIT Trichy 2025, HS Open CSE closed around 4,463, and Civil/Metallurgy/Production were also well below 54,907.

More realistic JoSAA/CSAB targets would be NIT Puducherry, NIT Andhra Pradesh, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Manipur, NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, and NIT Arunachal Pradesh for branches like Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, EEE, or Production. A few GFTIs and newer IIITs may also be possible, but CSE/IT will be difficult at this rank.

Yes, it is better to wait for and participate in CSAB, but do not rely on it alone. Your son can also participate in TNEA counselling, but getting into reputed colleges may be difficult, especially if your son is from a non-Tamil Nadu school board (CBSE/ICSE/IB) and has lower cutoff marks. It is highly advisable to keep strong backup options in private colleges such as SSN, SASTRA, Amrita, VIT, SRM, Shiv Nadar Chennai, Sathyabama, and Saveetha. All the BEST for Your Son's Prosperous Future!
