Sir, my daughter is doing her 12th now, she is aiming to get into IITs , NITs, BITS , IIITs for CS or any engineering which can make her enter into IT industry in future. Which IITs, NITs and IIITs can we prefer, we are from Chennai.

Ans: Your daughter is aspiring to gain admission to one of the IITs, NITs, BITS, or IIITs. The campus selection for your daughter will depend on the Percentile/AIR she achieves. To gain admission to a top IIT, NIT, or IIIT for the CSE branch, a minimum score of 99.00 percentile in JEE-Main is required, along with an All India Rank (AIR) below 1000 in JEE Advanced. For admission to the Pilani Campus of BITS, a minimum score of 330 out of 390 is required. In addition to JEE and BITSAT, she is eligible to take COMEDK to aim for one of the top three colleges in Bengaluru or Karnataka. I hope your daughter is attending her JEE coaching sessions. It is recommended to participate in 5-7 entrance examinations to ensure a range of options, rather than depending solely on JEE and BITSAT. Some strategies to enhance performance in JEE, BITSAT, and COMEDK examinations. (1) She should review the questions she answered incorrectly or skipped in the Mock Tests and Practice Tests she has completed to date, whether at the Coaching Center or at home, and practice them thoroughly. (2) She should familiarize herself with 20-40 previous years' JEE Question papers. (3) She should begin revising 11th Grade Chaptesr. (4) Consistent and regular revision is essential. (5) Additionally, she should practice time-bound online mock tests or test series to assess her speed and accuracy. All the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future.

Thanks a lot for your valuable response, she is going for coaching class and is trying to complete the syllabus by December, will take PYQs in Jan. Currently she is able to score 120+ in mains tests conducted in Center. As I requested, what all engineering courses can she pick for n Tier 1 colleges so that she can shift her career to IT sector
Ans: CSE-Core | CSE with Specialization like AI & ML or Data Science or Cybersecurity | ECE | ISE | IT | If she chooses any other Branch than these (example, Mechanical, EEE etc.), she will have to keep upgrading her skills in IT through NPTEL, Internshala, UpGrade etc. and / or any other online platforms for additional certifications recommended by her College Faculties.

Great details, noted, thanks Sir. Along with mechanical shall we keep civil or chemical too as last options for Tier1 colleges or are they not recommended ?
Ans: NEGATIVE. Not advisable for females. However, I came across a girl who achieved an AIR of 2392 in JEE-Advanced and secured admission to the Chemical Engineering program at IIT-Madras, as she favored the IIT-M campus over her less desired option in Chemical Engineering. She was promoted to Electrical Engineering in her2nd year and secured a campus placement as a 'Consultant' in her 4h year. She worked for two years before pursuing her higher education in the USA, however the specific master's program she selected is unknown. If your daughter cannot secure admission to any of the top five IITs, it is prudent to enroll in a reputable branch at BITS or one of the top three institutions in Tamil Nadu or Karnataka, such as PSG, SSN, RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT, or PES. I recommended participating in 5-7 entrance examinations rather than relying just on JEE and BITSAT. Many parents and students make this error, subsequently facing difficulties in securing admission to the desired branch of study. All the BEST for Your Prosperous Future.

Superb response and insight given Sir, points noted. That’s why wanted to check on that troubling point. Currently our options includes SSN, RVCE , Ramiah and BMS too as last options. We have IIITDM Kanchipuram, IIIT Pune or IIIT trichy or IIIT Sricity too next to top IITs, NITs or BITs for CS , please guide me whether they are right options above the suggested Bengaluru and PSG colleges ??

Hi Mam, Hope you are doing well. I am very worried about my son who is now 12.5 years old and studying in 7th standard in a very reputed school. Since childhood, he has no interest in studies, unless we doesn't seat in front of him, he doesn't study. Every teacher from his kindergarten days upto now has the same complaint that he is doesn't pay attention in class and the result is he doesn't get good marks in the exam. When we scold him for studies, he does it for that particular time only and then get back to his non-interest mode again and start to run from studies. He will play video games, goes to play around with his friends, he will find some or the other reason for not doing studies or homework. The irony is that he is not interested in any sports or any other kind of activities. In every summer holidays, we make him to join some sports or music classes, but there also he doesn't show interest and do things just for the sake of showing. From last year, we have started sending him to tuitions also, but no change in attitude. This year we have found a teacher of his reputed school who is retired and taking tuitions, we are sending him to her and she is charging a big amount for tuitions. please guide how can we change his attitude and make him more serious in any activity he does as he doesn't have interest in anything (we have observed doing everything we can).
Ans: Hello Sunil!!

I am doing great, thank you for asking, God bless you!

I can totally understand when you say you are worried.

Your son is 12.5, he will soon be a teenager. There will be different challenges, I want you to read up on parenting a teenager and be ready to handle him well.

The problem as I see it is that everyone of you, his teachers included have made studies like a burden for him.... and subjected the young child to a lot of anxiety, he just wants to run away form it....
"Every teacher from his kindergarten days upto now has the same complaint that he is doesn't pay attention in class".... this statement of yours... it is the teacher's duty to ensure the child listens to him/her, how can she start labeling a child like this. From a young age your son has been conditioned to believe that he is not not good in studies, he doesn't focus and he doesn't sit in one place. All my sympathies are with your son...every child comes with immense potential and it's our duty as parents and teachers to nurture the child.

The following is what I propose so that we bring him back to loving to learn ( not score marks, that should never be the barometer)-
1. Love your child the way he is now
2. Give him lot of positive strokes
3. Have one on one sessions for any activity you plan for him... let him choose the activity, empower him
4. choose a teacher, who can get along with him and help him develop a positive attitude towards studies and life in general
5. look for a school where they nurture him... not just a reputed one...less number of students and a teacher who is invested in her/ his students,

If you can connect with me, I can help him. Have had many a students in this kind situation.
