My 13-year-old daughter isn't focused on academics, what career options exist beyond 10th and 12th?

My daughter is 13 years old. She is not serious about her studies , especially in Maths. I am worried about her future. Please write her career options, if she doesn't score good marks in 10th or 12th. She can speak english and is learning German in school.

Ans: Vikas Sir,

Generally speaking, most of the parents blame the children for their lack of interest in studies instead of thinking about why they are not sincere in their studies.

If a child is not serious about studies, generally following might be the possibilities/reasons:

1) Lack of communication / interaction/respect by parents with children.
2) (Unfavorable) Atmosphere at home (various reasons) & also at School.
3) Both parents are working and get less or no time to help or monitor children's studies.
4) Addiction to electronic gadgets.
5) Peer influence/peer pressure.
6) Lack of physical activities.

Vikas Sir, Please go through the above reasons (without bias) and find out solutions from now for the problems which are applicable to your daughter. Gradually she will definitely improve.

If possible, please arrange for a FEMALE home tutor for her Maths Subject for alternate days.

Coming to Career Options, as she is in 8th only, it is not possible now to provide her career options as her interest / academic performance will change by the time she reaches 10th standard.

Hi - My daughter has just entered Class 12 - Non Medical Stream. For girls mainly IT/Comp Science and Architecture are few options or pursue MBA post graduation. She is above average student show scored 96% in Class X but quite less in Class XI. She has joined some Private Coaching for JEE. What are other career options for her? I am also thinking about Australia as I have support system over there. Frankly - Students cannot actually decide their interest areas at age of 17/18. Please help with your advice.

In +2 you can switch to the state board, whereas in you can keep bio & math both. Let her complete 10th we will discuss again about this.

Hello Sir, my daughter is studying 10th Std CBSE in Chennai. She is good in studies and socializing with people. She does not like History subject and comparatively weak in maths (scores between 80 to 90%). She keeps changing the long-term goals from English Teacher to Interior Design to Phycology to Engineer. She is unable to decide. Kindly suggest how to choose future career path. Thank you.

Ans: Bala Sir,

(1) Now itself, please go for a 'Psychometric Test' for her, which will recommend the top 5 streams suitable for her, based on her Aptitude, Attitude, Interest, Pesonality & Orientation Style.
(2) It is also advisable to prepare for Entrance Exams, based on Psychometric Test Result, from 10th itself if possible. If not, definitely from 11th.
(3) If she is weak in Maths, she should definitely attempt CUET exam to get admission into any one of the Central or State Universities for 3-Year Degree programs, based on Psychometric Test Recommendations.
(4) Due to peer influence, most students get confused about which career path to choose.
(5) As such, Psychometric Test will be the only solution.

I’ve been practicing with SNAP mocks, and my scores were always on the borderline. Now, with SNAP 2024 results about to be announced, I’m really nervous about qualifying for SIBM Pune. Could you tell me how Symbiosis evaluates borderline scores during the shortlisting process?

Ans: If you get shortlisted even if you are in borderline, you have a chance to get a final selection if you do well in the interview stage. There is good weightage for the interview process that could help you surpass students who have scored higher marks than you in written test. The difference between written test after being scaled is very small.

Ans: Hello;

Current MF corpus(40 L) may grow into 2.19 Cr after 15 years.

You need a sum of 10.5 Cr to generate post-tax monthly income of 3 L.

So for generating balance corpus of 8.31 Cr you may start a flat monthly sip of 1.55 L or begin with a monthly sip of 1 L with 10% step up every year for 15 years.

12% modest return is assumed from a combination of pure equity mutual funds.

A 4% SWP from the corpus(10.5 Cr) invested in equity savings fund with low to moderate risk rating would be apt to generate desired monthly income after tax.

hi, my daughter is 35 with a mf corpus of 1 cr.she wants to retire at 45 with a monthly income of 3 lakhs.what should be her corpus at 45 for that and how much she should invest monthly for that till 45.

Ans: Hello;

She will need a corpus of 10.5 Cr to generate a post-tax monthly income of 3 L.

It is considered that she might invest corpus in a equity savings type mutual fund with "low to moderate" or "moderate" risk rating.

A 4% SWP will provide her income above 3 L(post-tax)and indexed to inflation.

A modest 8% return from the fund is considered. At 6% inflation this corpus will surely last her for 30 years and more.

The existing corpus of 1 Cr will grow into a sum of 3.41 Cr in 10 years.

For the balance 7.1 Cr, she may do a flat monthly sip of 3.1 L or begin with monthly sip of 1.8 L and step it up by 14% every year for 10 years to achieve 7.1 Cr target.( A modest return of 12% is considered from a combination of pure equity mutual funds).

You may keep aside 50 L towards marriage expenses and another 20-25 L as emergency fund.

HOW TO START INVESTMENT WITH 10000 FOR FIRST TIME

If your time horizon is 1-3 years you may invest in an equity savings type mutual fund with growth option.

You may use any of the online apps available for making this investment.

If you are not ready for mutual funds, a simple bank FD with any nationalised bank would be good to beginwith.

When you are holding a portfolio of direct stocks, it is not possible that you will make profit in all of them.

As long as you are profitable at the portfolio level you should focus on reducing the losses and maximizing your gains.

Coming to Laurus Labs, I am not a chartist so won't be able to predict price movement but a basic research into the stock's financials and valuation does not give any comfort.

My view is, the earlier you exit it, the lesser will be your losses.

You may cross verify with a sebi registered research analyst.

Hi , I want to invest in a long term equity stock market with a goal of 25% monthly return on the fund invested , Which are the stocks which will grow at this rate and where should i invest the amount

Ans: there are no stocks in the world which will give you 25% monthly returns. I am sorry but you need to keep your goal realistic.
if your goal is 25% monthly then I would suggest you to stay away from markets as you may end up putting your hard earned money in some ponzi scheme and loose it.
The real goal should be anything between 12-14% yearly and if you need that over a long term (10-15yrs) then plz buy a bluchip mutual fund.

As far as I know, the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) does not provide for re-evaluation or rechecking exam results. Your current result will be treated as final result.
