I really enjoy having bhel as my evening snack quite often, especially with peanuts in it. But my mother always tells me to remove the ‘dana’ (the inner part of peanuts), saying it causes ‘heat’ in the body (‘ushnata’ / ‘heat pitt’ as we say in Marathi) and can lead to problems like mouth ulcers or acidity.

Ans: There is no evidence that peanuts increase body temperature or cause ulcers simply because of their “heat nature.” However, peanuts are high in fat (healthy fats, but still heavy to digest), can trigger acidity in people who already have a sensitive stomach and may worsen mouth ulcers in people prone to them due to irritation, not “heat”. If you personally feel discomfort, adjust the quantity, not because peanuts are harmful, but because your digestion may be sensitive.

Why does Indian thali make you sleepy? Whenever I eat a typical Indian lunch with rice, two rotis, sabzi, dal, and something heavy like paneer gravy or aloo, I start feeling extremely sleepy within 20 to 30 minutes. My head feels heavy, my concentration drops, and all I want is a quick 10-minute nap. This post-lunch sleepiness happens almost every working day. But when I try eating a very light lunch like just fruits or a salad I don’t feel drowsy. Instead, I feel hungry again by 3 pm and end up snacking on biscuits, tea, or other unhealthy foods. Hi, I am 43 yrs old, working as a Senior Delivery Manager in an IT company, CTC is 66lacs. My current investment in MF is 29Lacs, 11Lacs in ULIP insurance and 43Lacs in EPF and 25Lacs in Stocks. Current monthly investment I am doing 1.5lacs in MF, 42K in ULIP and 42K in EPF. I own 2 flats, 1 car, total pending principal amount is currently pending is 55 Lacs and monthly EMI I paid around 90K and all 3 EMI will run for next 7 yrs. My family is completely depending on me, including my wife(Home maker), my son 9yrs and my daughter 1 yr. What is your thoughts on my current investment plan, my liabilities? My monthly expenditure is around 1lacs including everything excluding EMI. I want to get my financial freedom soon so how much money I should have before I decide to get retired. Do I need to change anything on my investment plan? Any financial guidance from Gurus?
