DR Archana Bajaj Good Afternoon, My daughter aged 15 has irregular periods, how can we correct it. Dis Pelvis scans couple of times and all seems to be fine. She is 5.3" of height and weighs around 66kgs.

Ans: Menstrual irregularity at age 15. It is very common to have irregular paid periods in the initial years of menopause anarchy, so having irregular periods. For the first 2 or 3 years, when the period when monarchy begins is quite common. If the ultrasound of the pelvis is fine and the hormonal assessment is normal, like thyroid, prolactin levels, insulin levels are all fine and the FSH, LH levels are fine, it should not be a cause of concern. I do not think regulating the menses menses at such an early age is recommended. However, since she is 53 and ways 66 kilos, maybe optimising her weight by about 2 or 3 kilos might be helpful. Other than that, lifestyle modification, regular exercise, eating a judiciously avoiding junk food, or decreasing the amount of sweets and junk Maida. Potatoes, sugar, rice, EC may help, and increasing proteins in the diet may be helpful. Other than that, if the hemoglobin levels and hormonal profile is normal, I don't think it's a huge cause for concern.

Dr Aarti Bakshi Ji, Good Afternoon. I have daughter aged 13yrs 2month. First periods started in the month of September 2024. After that her behaviour changed and became arrogant. She is not going to school on periods days. Kindly help,How to counsel her??,
Ans: Hello
Since your daughter is 13 years old and just started getting periods that is menarche, she is in her puberty. She is undergoing lots of hormonal changes which is very common in this age group from 10 to 12 to 14 to 16 years of age group.
She will be having physical, cognitive and psychosocial changes. She is bound to have mood swings, irritation, change in behavior. During this phase they are in establishment of own identity, autonomy, sexuality. Not going to school can happen cause if awkwardness in periods, scare of staining clothes, not able to perform activities as routine due to pain or bleeding.
All these are common behavioral changes in most teenagers.
1) We as a parent we need to make ourselves available for open communication. With our children without hesitation.
2) We should be more like friends to them than parents.
3) Openly speak to them regarding periods, all emotional and behavioral changes to them and reassure them that these are normal changes to happen and accept them with grace and understanding.
4) Engage the kids in other activities likes their hobbies and physical exercises to control adverse behavior.
5) Talk openly about sex to your children so that they know about self-care.

My son has got 91 percentile in the recent jee exam , he has next attempt in april, but i feel its difficult for him , can i know about other good colleges in karnataka , as im based their. interested in computer science and aeronautical degree, also advise some recent good courses for his career in india.
Ans: Hello Manoj.
Do not get stressed at this stage. Even though his score is 91 percentile in 1st attempt, he can do well in 2nd attempt. But from the safer side, ask him to appear in the Karnataka State Engineering Entrance Examination also. Even if he scores less in JEE on 2nd attempt, he may good college via the state entrance examination in CSE or aeronautical engineering as per your wish. For your reference, there are 10 colleges in India where you can get admission without a JEE score. To know more details, please copy and paste the following link into your browser- https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/education/news/10-engineering-colleges-in-india-for-pursuing-btech-without-jee-main-2025-score/articleshow/118162587.cms.
There are no such courses to be called as recent. The choice of courses depends upon the interest of your son. Hence there is no need to hurry and get into panic at this stage. Let him appear for both exams first, Ask about his interests, and then choose the course accordingly. I would be happy to suggest you after knowing his scores in JEE+State entrance + his liking.
Till then, ask him to focus only on two engineering entrance exams. Best of luck to your son for upcoming exams.

If satisfied with the reply, please like and follow me, else ask again.
Thanks
