I have taken admission in NIT durgapur Mathematics and Computing. Wbjee result has been released and i got a GMR of 9146, and also ST rank of 16. Can i get admission in Jadavpur University in CSE, ECE or IT? Should I stay in NIT Durgapur or aim for Jadavpur?

Ans: Try Jadavpur University, which is generally considered better than NIT Durgapur, so aiming for JU is the wiser choice. Chances are there for CSE/ECE/IT.

Good luck.

Hello sir , I have secured a rank of 1094 in WBJEE (general rank) West bengal domicile, and my TFW rank is 111. I want to know if I can get admission into Computer Science, IT, or any core branches at Jadavpur University, excluding Civil and Mechanical Engineering. If I don’t get CSE or IT at Jadavpur, is it a good idea to take Chemical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering there, and later try for a department change to EE, ECE, CSE, or IT based on my academic performance? Also, after Jadavpur University, which other government engineering colleges should I prioritize in my choice filling? And what private colleges would you suggest considering my TFW rank of 111? Thanks in advance.
Ans: Kudan, With a General rank of 1,094 and TFW rank of 111 in WBJEE, admission to Jadavpur University’s CSE and IT branches is unlikely, as their closing ranks for these seats fall well within the top 150 and TFW seats within the top 50. However, admission to core branches like Chemical (closing rank ~516), Mechanical (~493), and Civil (~1,008) is achievable. Jadavpur’s outstanding academic environment, experienced faculty, significant research activities, industry partnerships, and strong placement support provide excellent prospects even in these branches. Branch change to EE, ECE, CSE, or IT is possible but highly competitive and requires exceptional first-year academic performance. Apart from Jadavpur, top government choices include Heritage Institute of Technology, Kalyani Government Engineering College, Haldia Institute of Technology, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, and Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology Serampore, known for quality education and placement in engineering branches. Among private colleges under TFW rank consideration, Techno Main Salt Lake, Institute of Engineering and Management Kolkata, Haldia Institute of Technology (private quota), IEM Group of Institutions, and Future Institute of Engineering and Management offer well-rounded curricula, infrastructure, faculty expertise, industry linkages, and favorable placement opportunities.

Recommendation: Enroll in Chemical or other core branches at Jadavpur University for a strong academic foundation and strive for branch change. Simultaneously, consider Heritage Institute of Technology, Kalyani GEC, and top private colleges like Techno Main Salt Lake and IEM Kolkata to ensure robust career options. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Dear Sir, I have sold my car to CARS24 and its many months they have not done RC transfer inspite of following up with them multiple times. I understand that till RC transfer is not complete then it is liability of the registered owner, Can I keep buying third party insurance till vehicle is in my name to cover my liability, even when the car is not in my possession but RC is still in my name. Will insurance company honor any claims in this regard?
Ans: » Your Concern is Valid

Yes, as long as the RC remains in your name, continuing third-party insurance is advisable.
This helps protect you against potential third-party liability arising from the vehicle.

» Important Limitation

Insurance coverage does not remove your legal exposure as the registered owner.
The insurer will generally handle valid third-party claims as per policy terms.
However, claim settlement can depend on the specific facts of the case and policy conditions.

» Immediate Action

Continue pursuing RC transfer with the buyer.
Keep all sale documents, delivery acknowledgment, and correspondence safely.
Consider sending a formal written notice seeking immediate RC transfer.

» Final Insights

Continuing third-party insurance is better than allowing the policy to lapse while the RC remains in your name.
However, the permanent solution is to get the RC transferred at the earliest.
