Will My Son Get into an IIT/NIT/GFT with an 89 Percentile in JEE Mains 2025 (Delhi General Category)?

Dr Dipankar Dutta is an associate professor in the computer science and engineering department at the University Institute of Technology, the University of Burdwan, West Bengal.
He has 27 years of experience and his interests include AI, data science, machine learning, pattern recognition, deep learning and evolutionary computation.

My son got 89 percentile in JEE mains 2025. Category General Delhi candidate .what are her chances for NIT/IIT/GFT

Ans: NITs:
For General category candidates, 89 percentile is usually not sufficient for CSE, IT, or ECE in top NITs.
In lower-ranked NITs, branches like Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and Metallurgy may be possible in later rounds.
NIT Delhi (home state quota) is very competitive, so chances are slim.
IIITs:
Getting CSE in IIITs with 89 percentile is difficult.
Some lower-ranked IIITs may offer non-core branches like Electronics or Mechatronics.
GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes):
GFTIs have better chances than NITs or IIITs at this percentile.
Institutes like Assam University, Mizoram University, and Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya may offer seats in non-CS branches.
IITs:
IITs only accept JEE Advanced scores.
With 89 percentile in JEE Mains, qualification for JEE Advanced is unlikely (General category cut-off is usually above 90 percentile).

Ans: With an estimated rank of around 31,700, securing branches like Civil Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, or Production Engineering at NIT Trichy under the Home State quota might be feasible.

Ans: Manoj Sir, As I've mentioned in response to similar questions over the past week, please check the JoSAA's opening and closing ranks for 2024 to get a general idea of the institutes and branches you may be eligible for. Make sure to fill in your preferences accordingly during the JoSAA Counselling. For a better understanding of the JoSAA Counselling process, if time permits, I recommend watching one of the EduJob360 videos. As your Son's Percentile is slightly on lower side and belongs to General Category also, please have Plan B & Plan C by making him appear for 4-5 other Entrance Exams as back-ups to choose the most suitable for him. Ans: You are referring to JEE-Main. To know, please follow these steps: 1. Calculate your approximate rank based on your percentile using a Google search. 2. As mentioned in several my previous responses, check the JoSAA opening and closing ranks for 2024 to get a general idea of the institutes and branches you might be eligible for, based on your category i.e. OBC. Make sure you fill in your preferences accordingly during the actual JoSAA counselling process after JEE Advanced. 3. To better understand the JoSAA counselling process, I recommend watching an EduJob360 video if time permits. 4. Additionally, it’s advisable to appear for 3-4 more entrance exams (if your parents can afford it) as backups. Relying only on JEE may limit your options, so it's good to have a broader range of choices to ensure you select the most suitable path for you. All the Best for Your Prosperous Future.

I am 46 years old male married for the fast 17 years. I have one son. My wife loves me very much. She is highly posessive about me since our marriage. I fell in love with my collegue who is a widower and 25 years of age with a daughter. She only started communicating and talking to me a lot. I was not having any kind of feelings towards her as I was overloaded with work. I got transferred to other place. There work pressure is not there. Now, I am in love with that widower. I told this to my wife also. She was shocked. After hue and cry, now my wife is back to normal and warned me to stay away from that girl.But I am not able to forget that girl. I called her over phone four to five times for a couple of times. It seems, now that girl is not interested in me. When I was with her, I never confessed that I love her. Now when I got transferred, i am keeping whats app messages which are visible only to her. I dont know whether she is not understanding this one, she is not responding. I dont want to cheat my wife and at the same time not able to forget that girl also. Please suggest me what to do.

Now that you have been transferred to a new place wirh new surroundings, take this as an opportunity to build new healthy relationships around you. You should start giving more quality time to your wife. She has given you a second chance. You should take it well and forget about your past as your colleague has also moved on now. hey i have just started my 12th and i havent started my jee prep yet and i am not even sure of it my 11th basics are not good i am so confused with what to do i have started learning web development as a hobby i am from a middle class family and i dont want to take a drop and become a burden o my family also what should i do

Ans: If engineering excites you, try JEE Mains but don’t stress about JEE Advanced.
If you enjoy web dev, consider BCA, CS in private colleges, or even self-learning + freelancing.
You don’t have to drop a year—there are plenty of good career paths that don’t require JEE.
