Ans: It’s important to follow your interests and passions. If mechanical engineering is something you love, there are definitely opportunities out there for you. Have you considered looking into specific companies or roles that align with your skills and interests. Many companies post job openings directly on their websites. Look for companies that interest you and check their careers page regularly.
Many women are excelling in roles like CAD designers, research fellows, and in fields like manufacturing engineering, thermal engineering, and industrial engineering. Enhancing your skills with additional certifications or courses can make you more competitive. Platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and edX offer courses in various aspects of mechanical engineering.

Career
I have been alloted NSUT mechanical and LNMIIT ECE . What should I pursue ?? My target is placement for now . Is mechanical safe branch for girls ??
Ans: Yagyasaini, Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) Mechanical Engineering is highly regarded, boasting strong faculty, modern labs, vibrant campus life, and national accreditations (NIRF rank 57, NAAC A). Recent records indicate 50–60% placement rates in Mechanical, with major recruitment toward core and IT/software roles, though CSE/ECE branches generally see higher campus placements. LNMIIT’s ECE program delivers an advanced electronics curriculum, excellent faculty, modern infrastructure, research focus, and top-notch placement support. ECE placements exceed 85%, featuring leading recruiters and broad opportunities in electronics, IT, and consulting, with strong industry demand for ECE graduates. While NSUT Mechanical provides a robust academic experience and campus support, more immediate job opportunities and higher placement percentages favor LNMIIT ECE.

Mechanical engineering is increasingly chosen by women, with industry automation and design (CAD/CAM/CAE) roles reducing physical work, making the stream inclusive. Girls in mechanical flourish in research, design, analysis, and managerial positions; however, field and shop-floor roles are still male-dominated. Career portals highlight equal academic and industry success for women passionate about mechanical, though the gender ratio remains low. Key pros are diverse opportunities and growing inclusivity; cons include social perceptions and physical demands in some roles.

Mechanical is suitable for girls with strong interest and resilience, though placement versatility and work environments are better in ECE. For those prioritizing safety and broader job prospects, a non-core, tech-centric branch often offers more flexibility.

Recommendation: LNMIIT ECE is the recommended choice due to significantly higher placement rates, broader industry demand, and a more inclusive environment for girls, ensuring better immediate job prospects, flexibility, and supportive campus resources compared to Mechanical at NSUT. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Civil engineering is good career option for girls
Ans: Asmika, Civil engineering remains a strong and rewarding career option for girls, with the field expanding well beyond its traditional male-dominated image. Women engineers are excelling in diverse roles including structural design, project management, environmental engineering, construction management, billing and tendering, and consulting—many of which offer balanced office-based work and flexibility. Major urban centers like Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad provide numerous opportunities, and leading colleges for women such as BVRIT Hyderabad and SVECW actively support female civil engineers. Women can also thrive in teaching, research, health and safety management, and valuation services, or take up government jobs where work-life balance structures are more defined. Career prospects remain strong as the demand for civil engineers persists in real estate, infrastructure, urban planning, and public sector organizations, and periodic placement data—such as at IIT Dhanbad—show sustained female representation in campus hiring, with placement rates for civil above 50% in most top institutes. The key benefits for women in civil engineering include diverse career options, social impact, continuous growth, and professional networks that are increasingly inclusive thanks to initiatives by professional societies and women’s engineering associations.

However, the profession does still present some challenges: workplace bias and stereotypes, occasional gender imbalance in site-based roles, work-life integration in field positions, and underrepresentation in leadership remain hurdles. These challenges can be mitigated by focusing on mentorship programs, scholarships, peer support, and industry efforts for inclusive hiring. Flexible work arrangements, hybrid job profiles (such as design, contracts, project controls, estimation, and digital civil engineering), and the steadily growing presence of women-led infrastructure firms are creating a more supportive environment. For girls who ultimately decide not to pursue fieldwork, alternative paths such as higher studies, switching to office-based sectors like BIM, interior design, urban planning, business and data analytics, or management consulting, as well as pursuing MBAs or roles in academia, remain open.

To maximize opportunities, girls should choose accredited colleges with strong placement cells, experienced faculty, quality infrastructure, good industry linkages, and clear student support mechanisms, all of which are increasingly available in women-focused and co-educational engineering institutions.

RECOMMENDATION: Civil engineering offers broad, future-proof career opportunities for girls—whether in core technical, managerial, office-based, or emerging digital roles—with the potential for high impact and growth. Opt for institutions with robust placement support, professional mentoring, and progressive environments. If you later prefer not to work in core civil roles, your degree and problem-solving training will allow smooth transitions to design, management, research, or technology-driven fields where women continue to excel. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Dating, Relationships Expert - Answered on Dec 04, 2025

Relationship
My married ex still texts me for comfort. Because of him, I am unable to move on. He makes me feel guilty by saying he got married out of family pressure. His dad is a cardiac patient and mom is being treated for cancer. He comforts me by saying he will get separated soon and we will get married because he only loves me. We have been in a relationship for 14 years and despite everything we tried, his parents refused to accept me, so he chose to get married to someone who understands our situation. I don't know when he will separate from his wife. She knows about us too but she comes from a traditional family. She also confirmed there is no physical intimacy between them. I trust him, but is it worth losing my youth for him? Honestly, I am worried and very confused.
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
I understand how difficult it is to let go of a relationship you have built from scratch, but is it really how you want to continue? It really seems to be going nowhere. His parents are already in bad health and he married someone else for their happiness. Does it seem like he will be able to leave her? So many people’s happiness and lives depend on this one decision. I think it’s about time you and your BF have a clear conversation about the same. If he can’t give a proper timeline, please try to understand his situation. But also make sure he understands yours and maybe rethink this equation. It really isn’t healthy. You deserve a love you can have wholly, and not just in pieces, and in the shadows.

Hope this helps

IIT-JEE, NEET-UG, SAT, CLAT, CA, CS Exam Expert - Answered on Dec 04, 2025

Career
My son will be appearing for JEE Main & JEE Advanced 2026 and will participate in JoSAA Counselling 2026. I request clarification regarding the GEN-EWS certificate date requirement for next year. I have already applied for an EWS certificate for current year 2025, and the application is under process. However, I am unsure whether this certificate will be accepted during JoSAA 2026, or whether candidates will be required to submit a fresh certificate for FY 2026–27 (issued on or after 1 April 2026). My concern is that if JoSAA requires a certificate issued after 1 April 2026, students will have only 1–1.5 months to complete the entire procedure, which is difficult considering normal government processing timelines. Also, during current JEE form filling, students are asked to upload a GEN-EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2025, or an application acknowledgement. This has created confusion among parents regarding which year’s certificate will finally be valid at the time of counselling. I request your kind guidance on: Which GEN-EWS certificate will be accepted for JoSAA Counselling 2026 — a certificate for FY 2025–26 (issued after 1 April 2025), or a new certificate for FY 2026–27 (issued after 1 April 2026)?
Ans: Hi
You need not worry about the EWS certificate. Even if you apply for the next year's certificate on 1 Apr 2026, the second session of JEE MAINS will still be held, followed by JEE ADVANCED, which will be held in May. JOSAA starts in June. so you will have 2 months in hand for fresh EWS certificate.
