Can i get CSE/ECE in any NIT OR IIIT with 96.45 percentile in ews category??

Ans: To know, please follow these steps: 1. Calculate your approximate rank based on your percentile using a Google search. 2. As mentioned in several my previous responses, check the JoSAA opening and closing ranks for 2024 to get a general idea of the institutes and branches you might be eligible for, based on your category i.e. SC. Make sure you fill in your preferences accordingly during the actual JoSAA counselling process after JEE Advanced. 3. To better understand the JoSAA counselling process, I recommend watching an EduJob360 video if time permits. 4. Additionally, it’s advisable to appear for 3-4 more entrance exams (if your parents can afford it) as backups. Relying only on JEE may limit your options, so it's good to have a broader range of choices to ensure you select the most suitable path for you. All the Best for Your Prosperous Future.

Ans: Deepak, Arjun, 96.4 percentile for EWS Category is good. As I've mentioned in response to similar questions over the past week, please check the JoSAA's opening and closing ranks for 2024 to get a general idea of the institutes and branches you may be eligible for, based on your EWS Category. Make sure to fill in your preferences accordingly during the JoSAA Counselling. For a better understanding of the JoSAA Counselling process, if time permits, I recommend watching one of the EduJob360 videos. It is advisable to appear for 3-4 more entrance exams (if fee would be affordable for yor parents) as back-ups to choose the most suitable one, instead of relying only on JEE. ll the Best for your Prosperous Future.

Dear Mr Anil, I am a 43 year old guy with monthly take home salary of 2.2 lakhs. I own a apartment in a metro city and have no outstanding liabilities. I started saving for my retirement when I was 34 years old. My current portfolio of 2.4 Cr is as below 1. Equity MF : 1.7 Cr 2. Debt MF : 35 Lakhs 3. EPF and Gratuity: 25 Lakhs 4: FD : 12 Lakhs 5 : Equiry & ETF : 1.5 Lakhs I also own a land worth 30 lakhs which i am not considering as retirement portfolio. My current monthly expenses is around 60k. I expect to reach 3 Cr in next 2 years Please advise how should I rebalance my portfolio before i retire at the age of 45 or 46 years. And is 3 Cr a good enough retirement portfolio to last for 40 years?

Ans: Hello;

I do not recommend doing an SWP at more then 3% and doing so on a 3 Cr corpus just about gives a post tax monthly income of 65 K with no scope for any buffer.

You should aim for a corpus of atleast 4 Cr. This will help you in two ways:

1. It will provide higher disposable monthly income in your hands

2. It may take 6-7 years to accumulate so the time in retirement will be comparatively lesser.

Also do keep an emergency fund worth 8-10 months regular expense coverage and ensure adequate healthcare insurance for yourself and your family now which may be continued in retirement.

Lastly, the portfolio must be more oriented towards large cap and hybrid funds for 6-7 years.

Ans: Hello Sir,
Congratulations for a good score. There is still some scope for improvement, with a few tips we can improve her score more and increase her chances of getting these seats in tier-I NITs or IIITs. Currently she may get Tier-II, since session-II is pending, we can increase her chances for tier-I.

There are a few tricks that you can follow and go above 98%ile with a little more effort, and can get a seat in a good NIT or IIIT.

I am 27 years old as of now, earning 9 lac lpa . I live with my parents and my workplace is near my home just 7 kms away. I have started investing 30000 per month in Mutual funds, 40 percent in large cap 30 percent in mid cap 30 percent in small cap. Apart from this for liquidity purposes u have 2 recurring deposits of 10000 and rs 5000 each. 500 So my total monthly savings are 45k The sip amount of 30000 is something that will keep om increasing by 10-15 percent every year. I plan on creating corpus of 1 CR in next 10 years at an expected CAGR of 12 percent . Currently im a Batchelor with no expenses . (As my dad is a business man and a pensioner too being an ex service man from defense sector. Moreover my mother is govt teacher so she also has her finances sorted out. Any advice on this financial plan? I plan on owning a housing at nearly 40 years of age. Also i plan on leaving my job in 30s creating a passive income source and maybe helping my dad in his business or running my own business. I want to work at my own will and be my own boss so that i can work stress free and have sufficient time for my family and also my passions such as travelling the world.

You may hold ~10% of your portfolio in the form of gold fund/ETFs for diversification and risk mitigation.

Also do annual review of your funds vis-a-vis category average and benchmark for risks and returns.

Buy an adequate term life insurance cover for yourself.

Rest looks quite good.

Ensure steady passive income source and own house before you get into business.

This year I want to do one more SIP, please help me whether I should invest in ELSS mutual fund or any gold mutual fund. If any one of ELSS or gold mutual fund, then which mutual fund company will be best to invest in, looking at the current market conditions?

I recommend that you start sip in a multi asset allocation type mutual fund.

It will ensure exposure to commodities (gold), debt as well as equity.

There are many good funds in this category. You may select any fund from the top performance quartile in this category.

With a 95.76 percentile your estimated All India Rank would be around 50K. CSE would be difficult for open category student. There are few tricks that you can follow and go above 98%ile with little more efforts and can get a seat in good NIT or IIIT.

If your category rank comes under 9.5K then there is a chance of getting a branch in NITK under HS quota. Since session-II is pending if will be difficult to predict your rank.
