Sir I am confused whether to choose engineering or medical. I want to go for engineering but parents are forcing me to take one year drop and prepare well for NEET and JEE. However this time I didn't get any good rank in KCET and also in NEET , JEE. This year i may not get good college by merit for engineering. My NEET score is 138. So please assist me to take good decision.

Ans: Hi Pankaj, considering your NEET score of 138, it is highly recommended that you should not repeat i.e. take a drop. Many times, parents want to fulfill their dreams via child. Even though you didn't get a good rank in KCET, it is possible to get admission in any good Pvt Engg College.(you like engg). Discuss with your parents closely and your subject teachers also who will guide you properly from the plain heart.

NEET, Medical, Pharmacy Careers - Answered on Jul 06, 2025

Career
Sir I am getting a private medical college but all expenses in 5.5 years will be around 75-85 lakhs we are short of around 20-25 lakh As I also has pcm in 12 I am getting a good collage in Banglore for engineering has avg cse package of 10 lakh that can be go for 30 lakh including tution fee and hostel what should I do? I has pcmb in 12 so maths is not problem for me. My father told me that if I take medical my family will suffer financially for like next 6-7 years as will not have any savings left and there will be 30-40lakhs of education loan on me. Should I take Medical college and make my life better or do Engineering and make my life. I am one year dropper NEET.
Ans: Hi Rahul,
You need to decide which stream to pursue, either medical or engineering.
As you mentioned, the expected expenses for an MBBS degree are around 75 lakhs, while for Computer Science Engineering (CSE), it's about 30 lakhs.

With engineering, you can start earning as soon as you complete your degree, but that's not the case with MBBS. After completing the MBBS course, you'll have to undergo an internship and pursue a postgraduate degree before you can start earning. However, once you finish your PG, you’ll have a stable and continuous income.

Although a career in medicine can also be lucrative, currently, CSE is in high demand. The future of CSE is uncertain; it may remain in demand for another 10 years, and you'll need to keep upgrading your skills.

Considering your financial background, it may be more viable to focus on engineering. Therefore, proceed with that path.
BEST WISHES.

Ans: Dear Priyanka,

Thank you for being so honest about everything!

Do you like CA and CS first of all? This is the first question you have to ask yourself!

The next question I want to you ask yourself is, ‘am I scoring less marks because I have not studied / lack of interest or lack of understanding of concepts?’ Seek help if you really want to clear these exams!

Next question is ask yourself , “what comes naturally to me and I love doing it?”. It can be anything…. cooking, baking, teaching, accounting, handling customers in your dad’s office, taking care of office administration, etc, list out everything and then home down to one thing and start working on it with honesty of purpose, let that become your way to earning money!

And please sit and have a heart to heart chat with your parents!
If verbal communication is a problem, write a letter to them… I am giving you options, choose what is comfortable to you , but talk to your parents!

All the very best…
