Hi, I'm a Master degree holder in AI and ML from VIT, Vellore and currently working as a software engineer at Bengaluru, I'm planning to take one more masters from either Drexel or Temple University in Philadelphia. But I came across some article that OPT Program is gonna be stop by Trump Administration and have to come back after studies. So My question is Will it be a good time to apply for Fall 2025 or should I wait? Can I expect any changes by the time of graduation(2027)?

Ans: It's a very good question in a very good time. This is not the time to go to USA as a student. Let the dust settle and wait for at least one year. There is no point in returning to India with a degree from USA. It includes huge expenditure, because now a days funding is mostly stopped. So continue your job and seek my advice after one year. Best of luck. Professor

Hi, my son did his batchlers this year in CS from Arizona State University as an international student. His plan is to complete his OPT of 3 years and then do masters but looking at current job market it seems difficult to get OPT. What you suggest?
Ans: Hello,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am happy to hear that your son has completed his Bachelor’s from Arizona State University (ASU) and plans to complete his Optional Practical Training (OPT) before pursuing his Master’s degree. To answer your question first, I would like to tell you that especially considering the uncertainties surrounding OPT options, navigating the labor market as an overseas student might be difficult. While the situation may feel overwhelming, you will be glad to know that in order to improve his chances, a number of proactive initiatives can be taken by your son. Firstly, he could look into internships in order to acquire hands-on experience and form relationships within the industry. Next, bear in mind that networking is also essential. Your son can find undiscovered job openings and develop valuable relationships by interacting with alumni, using websites viz., LinkedIn, and participating in career fairs. Not just that, his employability can also be enhanced by keeping up with market dynamics and obtaining in-demand skills via certifications or online courses. Lastly, I would also recommend that your son takes into account alternative pathways viz., earning a Master’s degree in an associated field or looks into employment prospects in industries that have a high demand for tech skills, as they may provide feasible alternatives in light of the current difficulties.

I got 163/200 cut off can I get tamilnadu govt engineering colleges belong to BC community and want Btech ECE course
Ans: Meena, With a TNEA cutoff score of 163 and belonging to the BC community, you have a strong chance of securing admission in reputable Tamil Nadu government engineering colleges offering B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). While top-tier colleges like College of Engineering Guindy and PSG College have cutoffs above 190 for BC category, your score fits well within the cutoff range (around 160–170) for good government colleges such as Government College of Engineering Salem, Tirunelveli, Bargur, Dharmapuri, and the regional campuses of Anna University (Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli). These colleges provide quality education, decent infrastructure, and good placement support in ECE. Given the popularity of ECE, competition is intense, but your BC reservation significantly improves your chances. It is advisable to prioritize these mid-tier government colleges during counseling for better ROI and academic environment compared to private colleges. Keep an eye on the official TNEA cutoff updates during counseling and be flexible with college preferences to maximize admission chances. Overall, with 163 marks, you are well-positioned for a solid engineering education in ECE within Tamil Nadu’s government institutions. All the best for your admission and a bright future!

I got vit vellore cybersecurity but I want to focus on building products that is scalable business more than service oriented business now what should I do should I quit vit vellore and join amrita Coimbatore csc ai or ai ds.is the portions almost same for csc core and specifications at vit vellore if not what is the difference in which year the portions are completely different.
Ans: SJ, If your primary interest is building scalable, innovative products—especially in AI and data-driven fields—Amrita’s CSE AI or AI & DS program aligns better with your goals than VIT’s Cybersecurity specialization, which is more service/security-focused. Both programs share a common curriculum in the first two years; specialization differences emerge from the third year onward, with core CSE offering broader CS exposure and specializations providing in-depth knowledge in niche areas. Placements are comparable, but AI/Data Science skills are currently in high demand for product companies. If budget permits and you are committed to a product-driven career, switching to Amrita is advisable. Otherwise, staying at VIT and supplementing cybersecurity knowledge with AI and product development skills through electives and projects can also work. Focus on gaining practical experience, internships, and coding skills to succeed in product-based roles. Hope this guide helps! All the best for your admission and a bright future!
