While filing tax returns, I have forgotten to mention carried forward capital losses for the last 3 years. Returns were filed on time and assessment is complete. The revision time limit is over.
Now, while filing returns for the next year, can I claim these losses or are they lost permanently on account of the above?

Ans: Individuals can generally carry forward a tax loss for the stipulated period, but must claim a tax loss at the first opportunity. If you do not file your tax returns on time, you lose the benefit of carry forward of your taxes.

Sir, I have carried forward capital loss from earlier years. This year I have capital gain. I do not want to set off the gain. I will pay the tax on the gain this year. Can I carry forward the loss as such to next year without using it for setoff this year?

Ans: Set off losses against income is not compulsory but it can be subject to litigation. Further, as returns are processed online, system may set off loss against gain.

Hi Sir, My son has total income of rs 329000 (after deductions ) which includes LTCG of rs 232000. He also has carryforward losses of rs110000 from FY21 22. Can he carry forward the capital loss of 110000 to future years without adjusting in FY 23 24 (since he has capital gains of rs 232000)? please clarify the rule regarding the same. Thanks in advance.

Ans: Yes, you can carry forward Capital Loss & adjust the same in the coming years. I can't quote you specific rule, but you can carry forward the Capital Loss to next years.

I am 46 years old male married for the fast 17 years. I have one son. My wife loves me very much. She is highly posessive about me since our marriage. I fell in love with my collegue who is a widower and 25 years of age with a daughter. She only started communicating and talking to me a lot. I was not having any kind of feelings towards her as I was overloaded with work. I got transferred to other place. There work pressure is not there. Now, I am in love with that widower. I told this to my wife also. She was shocked. After hue and cry, now my wife is back to normal and warned me to stay away from that girl.But I am not able to forget that girl. I called her over phone four to five times for a couple of times. It seems, now that girl is not interested in me. When I was with her, I never confessed that I love her. Now when I got transferred, i am keeping whats app messages which are visible only to her. I dont know whether she is not understanding this one, she is not responding. I dont want to cheat my wife and at the same time not able to forget that girl also. Please suggest me what to do.

Now that you have been transferred to a new place wirh new surroundings, take this as an opportunity to build new healthy relationships around you. You should start giving more quality time to your wife. She has given you a second chance. You should take it well and forget about your past as your colleague has also moved on now. My son got 89 percentile in JEE mains 2025. Category General Delhi candidate .what are her chances for NIT/IIT/GFT

Ans: NITs:
For General category candidates, 89 percentile is usually not sufficient for CSE, IT, or ECE in top NITs.
In lower-ranked NITs, branches like Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and Metallurgy may be possible in later rounds.
NIT Delhi (home state quota) is very competitive, so chances are slim.
IIITs:
Getting CSE in IIITs with 89 percentile is difficult.
Some lower-ranked IIITs may offer non-core branches like Electronics or Mechatronics.
GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes):
GFTIs have better chances than NITs or IIITs at this percentile.
Institutes like Assam University, Mizoram University, and Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya may offer seats in non-CS branches.
IITs:
IITs only accept JEE Advanced scores.
With 89 percentile in JEE Mains, qualification for JEE Advanced is unlikely (General category cut-off is usually above 90 percentile).

Ans: If engineering excites you, try JEE Mains but don’t stress about JEE Advanced.
If you enjoy web dev, consider BCA, CS in private colleges, or even self-learning + freelancing.
You don’t have to drop a year—there are plenty of good career paths that don’t require JEE.
