Hi sir, my wife is type 2 diabetic. What precautions our children have to take not to get diabetes?

Ans: Avoid sugar, honey and jaggery in the diet
- Avoid processed & packaged foods
- Reduce the overall carb consumption - which also includes millets
- Include protein & healthy fat with all your meals
- Excercise regularly - 30min/day and include weight training - 3times/week
- Quality sleep - 8hrs/day
- Manage stress

Hereditary is one of the pivotal factors in manifestation of a health disorder.

Being alert of your health parameters and having a healthy lifestyle will keep these disorders at bay.

The best way to protect yourself from diabetes is to maintain normal blood parameters of sugar, cholesterol, etc.

To do so, you need to follow a balanced diet with more complex carbohydrates, low fat, high fibre, adequate protein and a fitness regimen.

Ensure inclusion of immunity boosters and anti-inflammatory foods like cinnamon, methi seeds, etc, with a focus on lowering your glycemic index.

Sound sleep of at least 7-8 hours and being consistent in maintaining a healthy weight will go a long way in keeping you free of diabetes.

I am 41 M. Both of parents are diabetic. Doctor told me that due to parents you have 80% of chances to be diabetic around reaching 45. How can i avoid, if i have to prevent this condition? Please suggest

How can we control Type 1 diabetes in kids? Why it is found more in kids

Ans: It is due to immune response targeting the insulin producing cells in the pancreas. As a result, insulin production goes down drastically or even stops. It can happen post a viral infection when the body starts producing antibodies that Target it's own tissues. There is no prevention as such as it isn't diet or lifestyle related.

I am a 12th student now in state board of tamil Nadu and I am a government school student what is the minimum requirement for me to join mbbs in AFMC medical College

Ans: The following requirements are mandatory for admission to AFMC.

Age: 17-24yrs
Academic qualitfication: FIRST ATTEMPT with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology taken simultaneously and securing not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in these three science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the tenth standard.
Candidates seeking admission for MBBS course at AFMC Pune will have to mandatorily qualify the NEET UG 2024 Examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). 11. Eligible candidates who are interested to join AFMC, Pune to pursue the MBBS course will have to mandatorily register and apply for AFMC, Pune on DGHS

The shortlisted candidates will be called for screening which comprises of Test of English Language and Reasoning (ToELR), Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination at AFMC, Pune.

ToELR & PAT - Test of English Language and Reasoning (ToELR) in the form of Computer Based Test (CBT) and also Psychological Assessment Test (PAT) to be conducted at AFMC, Pune only for candidates shortlisted for interview.
