I start my day with tea on an empty stomach because I feel it helps me wake up. However, I’ve heard that this habit may affect digestion and nutrient absorption. Is having tea first thing in the morning harmful, and what would be a healthier way to begin the day?

Ans: Many people start their day the same way and find drinking tea a comforting way to wake up. Based on general medical information, having tea on an empty stomach isn’t necessarily dangerous for everyone, but it can cause digestive discomfort or affect nutrient absorption for some people. Tea has a diuretic effect, and after a full night without fluids, this can contribute to morning dehydration. It is advisable to have a light snack which can buffer your stomach prior to drinking tea. Drink water first and have your regular tea after breakfast or 20–30 minutes later.
