Should patient with high cholestrol stabilised with statin 20mg continue medicine after his cholestrol levels have reduced with in limits. Does statin medicines taken for long period say above 2 years have adverse effect by reducing testosterone levels and cause erectile dysfunction to patient.

Hi, i am 45 years old and my Cholesterol level were at 240 and doctor suggested to start taking Statin 5mg daily. I am taking this for past 9 months now. Kindly advise if there is any side effects of continuing it. My cholesterol levels are normal for past 6-7 months.

Ans: Cholesterol can be regulated through diet too. Particularly early dinner by 6 pm and avoid junk foods and outside food which might have palm oil as cooking base. Once your cholesterol is normal check with a Nutritionist for a balanced diet and start regular work outs. Statin breaks down the muscle protein too so one will have fatigue, cramps and aches. So consider not to take it for long periods

Hello doctor I had total cholesterol around 270 and HDL 80 and LDL around 175 with normal tryglecirides. It's been like this since years . I am quite active and daily walk 4 kms. I am 65 years now. My doctor wants me to start statins but I would prefer to avoid. I am following a healthy lifestyle but my cholesterol levels don't get controlled. Should I start statins. And if I do is it ok to discontinue on e the levels become normal.

Ans: First thing you should do to modify lifestyle. reduce free sugars from your meals and reduce carbohydrates.
Increase physical activity.
Your LDL levels are high and the lifestyle modification alone may not help. Therefore, starting on Statin is a good idea.

Yes, over period of time when cholesterol returns to normal, it is possible to stop statin or reduce the doses.

I have been taking crestor 5mg since 2019. Doctor prescribed for crestor as that time my Triglyceride, LDL etc were on higher side. At present my parameters are normal and in fact parameters are maintaining normal since quite a long time after consuming crestor since 2019. Parameters on 15.09.24 were normal with Total cholesterol: 144 mg/dL, Trigleceride: 56 mg/dL, HDL: 56 mg/dL, LDL: 77 mg/dL My question is whether I shall continue with crestor or might continue with crestor with alternate days? I have a small polyp in gallbladder and had stomach cramp one year back and now ok. Also advice whether continuation of statin may increase the risk of diabetes. Presently my HbA1c is 5.3% I am 65 yrs of age and Male.

Ans: Yes.
You can stop Crestor (Rosuvastatin) and focus upon healthy eating and active lifestyle.

Get a lipid profile done after six months and then it can be decided whether you need to restart or not.

Ans: Sahil, The HSC Improvement Exam in June-July 2025 might be open for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) subjects only. Eligibility is based on passing the HSC board exam (2025). Candidates can choose to improve one, two, or all subjects. If only the theory part is improved, it must be indicated during registration. Practical marks from the main exam (2025) will carry forward. The best score between the main exam and improvement exam will be considered for the final mark sheet. Improved scores will be valid for JEE Main/Advanced if they meet the eligibility criteria. Ensure to complete the improvement exam registration correctly and on time. Contact your school or board office to get accurate information about the application process and deadlines.

Be sure to prepare well to improve your PCM scores, as it directly impacts your JEE eligibility.

Ans: You can apply for JEE Advanced 2026 if you meet certain eligibility criteria. You can apply for the exam twice in two consecutive years, and you must have first appeared in the Class XII board exam in either 2024 or 2025. You must also qualify for JEE Main 2026 and be among the top 2,50,000 candidates (changes every year). The year of first appearance in Class XII (2024) is considered for eligibility, not the reappearance year (2025). Both attempts are still available, and you must clear JEE Main 2026 with the required rank to be eligible for JEE Advanced. All The BEST.

Requested to please suggest me which carrer path i should be acquired.

Ans: Career path will depend on your interest. One option is to do Executive MBA from one of the top colleges. Check their placements before you join. Second option is to contact placement agency to find what skill sets are required to get a job in the area of your interest and do some short term course relevant to that. I got 94.5 with 82420 CRL and 25000 OBC-NCL rank in jee mains and I have delhi as my Home State..my advanced preparation isn't that great can u please guide me for some colleges..

Ans: JAC Delhi Colleges (Home State Quota)
You have a fair chance in:

NSUT (Non-CSE branches) – Possibly Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Civil.

DTU (Non-CSE branches) – Could get Mechanical or Production Engineering.

IIIT Delhi (non-CSE) – You may not get CS, but CSAM (CS + Applied Math) is a remote possibility if cutoffs drop.

IGDTUW (for girls only) – If you’re a girl, IT, ECE, or MAE are possible.

JoSAA – NITs (OBC-NCL Quota)
At your OBC rank ~25k, your chances in top NITs are slim, but these lower NITs and IIITs may be possible in core or newer branches:

NIT Mizoram / Meghalaya / Sikkim – ECE, Civil, Mechanical.

NIT Puducherry / Andhra Pradesh – Possibly Mechanical or EEE.

IIIT Una / IIIT Bhagalpur / IIIT Kalyani – ECE or CS (borderline).
