Sir, i m 59 year old weighing 70 kgs..our family history father and sister ate diabetic.. I was earlier 94kgs but with exercise.and diet brought it diwn to 70kgs..further i m unable to reduce weight..my HBA1C IS 5.8 PRESENTLY..what should i do to reduce it further..i eat millets..avoid sugar..walk daily ..do meditation..i m worried..kindly answer

Ans: It's great to hear that you've already made significant progress in managing your weight and blood sugar levels! Your current HbA1c level of 5.8 is in the prediabetes range. Monitor carbohydrate intake by opting for whole grains, legumes, etc. Increase fiber intake by including vegetables, fruits, legumes, etc. Include healthy fats sources like olive oil, avocado and nuts. Include lean sources of protein like legumes, chicken, fish, eggs, etc. Stay well hydrated and exercise regularly by aiming at muscle gain and fat loss.

Ans: As per your height and weight measurements, you are overweight. Follow a dietary regimen that includes high protein, low carbohydrate and low fat. Include foods with high fiber and complex carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables, millets, lentils, etc. Adopt a fitness schedule which include cardio and weight training to lose body fat percentage and increase muscle mass. This will help lower your blood glucose levels, improve Insulin resistance and bring down your weight.

Ans: An HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.4% is Prediabetes. General diet tips to lower A1C levels include being mindful of portion sizes, regular eating habits, spreading out carbohydrate-rich foods throughout the day, choosing less-processed or whole foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and nuts and eating a balanced diet complete with healthy proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Avoid high fat and sugary foods. Exercise plays an important role in lowering your blood sugar levels by increasing energy expenditure.

I am 59 year old weight 64 kg height 165 cm bmi in control. Before 2021 I was non diabetic and no control over food intake. Since 2023 my Hba1c started increasing and in oct 2023 it was around 9. Since then I have started control food. my FBS in Dec 2023 was 200 and pp2bs was 270 to 300. in jan 2024 I more strict on food intake hence in Jan 2024 my FBS came down to 170 and pp2bs is 190 to 225 in home glucometer. I amnot taking any medicine till now pl adv how can I reduce more by food and life style. I am regular in my excercise and walking from Dilip Agrawal

Ans: Glad to know that you are more conscious of your health and diet. However, a FBS of 170 mg/dl and PP of 190-225 mg/dl is still in an uncontrolled blood sugar level range. Focus on lifestyle modifications like selection of complex carbohydrates like whole grains and legumes. Include high fiber foods like vegetables, fruits, oats, etc. in your daily diet. Avoid the intake of foods high in added sugars and processed foods like cakes, pastries, fried foods, fast foods, chocolates, alcohol, etc. to prevent blood sugar spikes. Maintain at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity per week. Achieve a healthy weight. Follow a regular exercise regimen and eat at regular intervals.

Ans: Maintaining a healthy HbA1c level is crucial for diabetes management. Hereditary is a contributing factor to high levels of HbA1c. Continue with your millet-based diet, as they are a good choice due to their low glycemic index. Focus on complex carbohydrates with high fiber content (like vegetables, whole grains, and legumes). Limit starchy carbs (such as white rice, bread, and potatoes) that can cause blood sugar spikes. Fill half your plate with non-starchy vegetables (carrots, greens, zucchini, tomatoes). Include lean protein (chicken, tofu) and low healthy fats in your diet. Physical activity helps improve insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar, so be active. Focus on fat loss and muscle gain.

Dear Sir, as my son Inter bord got 91% but in Jee mains 1st attempt got 50% and 2nd attempt got 70%, but he was not eligible for Advance, and he was wrote other college exams as (IIIT Hyd + VIT+TSEAPCET) in that VIT got results as 1.20 Lakh rank and he was eligible for Round of Category of 5th for VIT-AP & VIT-Bhopal, and expecting results for IIIT Hyd and also waiting for other Exams as (COMEDK + MIT + BITS), he was sincerely trying the efforts private college entrance exams, but the results which is not satisfy for him, and getting disappoint, but I was giving the motivation for other exams and do the hard work and focus on, BITS & IIT-Hyd also very tuff and more competitive, as i need to think for the negative side, if he could not get any cut of marks, what is the next option....? I request you pls give any other alternate suggestions for which is alternate engineering university for the course of (CSE AI & ML), my son interested in CSE course only

is EEE in IIIT Gwalior a good choice from perspective of future prospects?

Ans: Hello Lalit
EEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) at IIIT Gwalior (ABV-IIITM) can be a decent choice. But if you're strictly interested in core electrical engineering, other colleges (like NITs) might be a better option because not many EEE-core companies visit the campus in comparison to CS/IT branches. Finally, if your interest is strictly in core EEE, IIIT Gwalior might not offer as many labs or core recruiters as older NITs or IITs with stronger electrical departments.

Suggest me for getting any specific nit with suitable branch except civil engineering with ews rank of 25396 and crl rank of 175000??

Ans: Hello dear.
With your EWS rank of 25,396 and CRL rank of 175,000, there are fewer chances to get admission to NITs in any branch under the mentioned category with the mentioned CRL. But you can try under the state quota at some NITs. Participate in the state-level counseling for more promising branches. To avoid Civil, you may try for Metallurgical, Materials Engineering or Production Engineering. You can consider good private colleges accepting JEE Main scores.

Sir, NRI daughter had LTCG income in FY23-24 and IT returns was filed in ITR-2 as per rules. In FY24-25 there is no taxable income and there is no LTCG also. In such a case, filing may not be required but she would like to file just to recover the small but atrocious deductions made in the SB account.. My query is which ITR form is to be used in this case? In case if ITR-2 is not required, is there anything wrong in using ITR-2 itself?

Ans: In case she is earning interest from saving account only, ITR 1 is applicable and it is advisable not to use ITR 2. Further, ITR 1 can not be filed in following cases like if person own assets (including financial interest in any entity) located outside India; has signing authority in any account located outside India; has income from any source outside India; want to claim deduction from saving interest, is a director in any company; has held any unlisted equity share at any time during the previous year; has agricultural income, exceeding five thousand rupees etc
