The only permanent solution to a knee pain is doing knee exercises everyday. You can start with strengthening exercises for quadriceps and hamstrings muscle

Hi, I am 40Y M 80.5kg 5'11''. Have developed knee pain in one leg since last 1.5years, feel mild knocking on bending knee also since around the same time. Find it difficult to climb stairs as the affected knee doesnt seem to take proper load. i also suffer from knee locking while walking in the same leg. MRI Scan reveal mild erosion of cartilage. I am able to stay active and play mild sports with knee supports, no pain experienced once body warms up so able to run as well. Doctor also suggested knee injections if the pain further aggravates. Is it advisable to go for such treatments. Please advise what exercises should be done. Are there any supplements or multi vitamins that i shall take.

Ans: Hello Ankit,
How recent was the MRI done? There were no other findings like in the menisci or knee ligaments?
Have you done your blood test recently? Accordingly you need to take Vit D3 and Vit B12 supplements. Magnesium can also help. You need to show your blood reports to a Dr and accordingly take the vitamins.
Have you shown your knee to a physiotherapist? If not please do so. They will do a proper evaluation and accordingly do techniques like Ultrasound, taping, dry needling and give you exercises.
I would suggest first go in for nutrition care and physiotherapy. If still pain persists then you can think of knee injections as the more natural the treatment is the better.

I wish to earn monthly amount with stress free so that it supports my family. W are family of 3 with son studying in 8th Standard. Also I have a Annuity policy from Max life which will give me a monthly income of 26000 for life.

Ans: Hi Sunil,

You are getting 26k from annuity policy. Additional monthly expenses can easily be covered using your existing PF of 2.5 crores.
Can go with the below options:
1. SCSS - 30 lakhs (jointly with spouse). 8.2% interest with quarterly payout.
2. FD - 50 lakhs. Emergency net.
3. Mix of hybrid and debt mutual funds using bucket strategy for remaining 1.5 crores. Can do a monthyl SWP. This approach is tax efficient, preserves capital and grow that without any risk.
4. Keep 20 lakhs in equity mutual funds for your kid's higher education. This amount will grow substantially when he turns 18 and will take care of the expenses.

Do work with a professional to work out on this strategy.
Hence consult a professional Certified Financial Planner - a CFP who can guide you with exact funds to invest in keeping in mind your age, requirements, financial goals and risk profile. A CFP periodically reviews your portfolio and suggest any amendments to be made, if required.

Best option for you is to open a Senior Citizen Saving Scheme (SCSS) account with 10 lakhs. This will give interest of 8.2% pa payable quarterly. Time duration - 5 years lockin with 3 year extension.
Make an RD of the quarterly interest payout.

HI i am a 42 years pvt sector employee. I am currently investing in MF SIP of 50/52k per month (avg age 5 years) and accumulated MF corpus till date including a few old ones stands at 33 lakhs. NPS of 6k per month, PPF 4k per month and 25k pm in EPFO including employers share. I have an o/s home loan of 1.25 crs @ 7.10% and plan to pay it off in next 10 years. Retirement age is 58 and desired corpus by retirement should be 7-8 crores. Please advice am i on right track and any changes to the investment strategy required? also i do plan to increase allocation to mf by min 15% annually till retirement age. My Term cover is 50 lakhs. Mediclaim of 20 + 20 lakhs top up and my wife has a 50 lakhs mediclaim. We dont plan any kids.

Ans: Hi,

You have done great by accumulating so much at your age. This is commendable.
you want to retire after 16 years at the age of 58. Let us go through your financials in detail:
- Monthly contributions in PPF, EPF and NPS - 35k - good, continue it. This entire amount is going into debt instruments and will be helpful to cover your expenses immediately after retirement.
- Current HL outstanding - 1.25 cr at 7.1% - this is quite cheap. Do not rush into prepaying the loan. Take 10 years time and pay it slowly. Rather focus on increasing contributions towards MF as that will build your long term wealth.
- 33 lakhs MF corpus with 52k SIP at 15% annual stepup. This will generate 9 crores corpus when you turn 58 (more than your target). Stay focussed and make sure that you have chosen right funds wrt your goals. Investing on random tips and only direct index funds is not sufficient.
- Term cover - 50 lakhs - can be increased to 1cr.
- Health - take a super top up of 50 lakhs considering high medical costs and your increasing age.

Overall things are going good. You just need to maintain the discipline. You can also consider consulting a professional Certified Financial Planner - a CFP who can guide you with exact funds to invest in keeping in mind your age, requirements, financial goals and risk profile. A CFP periodically reviews your portfolio and suggest any amendments to be made, if required.

Both are equally good. Can invest 30% in gold etf and 70% in mutual funds. But make sure investments do not depend upon only better part. Invest wrt your individual profile. Work with a professional and focus on wealth building.

Hlo sir My son have passed 11th in science pcb by cbse board. But in 12th he want to change stream from science to humanities. Is there any rule to change stream??

Ans: Under CBSE rules, Class 11 and 12 form a two?year course. After passing Class 11, a student cannot normally offer new Class 12 subjects not studied in Class 11, and any subject-change request must be made early in the session (before 15 July) through the school.

So, a direct PCB to Humanities shift in Class 12 is generally not allowed; options are repeating Class 11 with Humanities, changing to an open school board (like NIOS), or requesting rare special permission via the school and CBSE regional office. First clue would be them asking you out on a date verbally. If there’s no confirmation of such nature, you can try and gauge their behavior, but that’s risky business because some people are just being nice and kindness can be mistaken as flirting. If you are unsure, ask your other colleagues if they too feel that your co-worker is flirting with you or if you are assuming it.

Sir.. My daughter scored 94.4 percentile in jee january shift belongs OBC from tamil nadu... what are the possibilities to get NIT?

Ans: At 94.4 percentile, her expected JEE Main rank is around 65,000, which usually clears the OBC?NCL cut-off. As an OBC girl, she may get newer NITs or lower-demand branches, but CSE/ECE in top NITs like Trichy is unlikely; keep IIIT/GFTI options open too. If possible/affordable, have 3-4 other best options in Tamil Nadu itself such as SSN, SNU, Sathyabhama, Saveetha, PSG etc. ALL the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!

Hi, I need honest career guidance based on my situation. I completed my HSC in 2024 with PCB stream (no Mathematics) and scored only 45%. I was preparing for medical entrance but it didn't work out, and due to personal reasons I couldn't appear for improvement exams either. It's now 2026 and I have a 2 year gap. I now want to pursue a career in IT or Computer Science. I'm confused between BSc IT, BSc CS, BCA, and Data Science — and keep getting mixed opinions from everyone. My specific questions are — 1. Since I don't have Maths in HSC, can I appear for the HSC Maths exam as an Isolated Candidate in July–August 2026? And if I clear it, will that result be valid for 2026–27 admissions? 2. With 45% and a 2 year gap, what are my realistic college options in Mumbai? Which good colleges have lower cutoffs for BSc IT / BSc CS / BCA? 3. Given that I'm coming from Biology with no Maths background — which degree would actually be the best fit for me for real career growth, not just for getting admission? 4. Does college name or tier matter a lot in the IT field with lower percentage, or do skills and portfolio matter more? 5. Honestly, what is the smartest move for someone in my exact situation right now? I don't want to waste more time and want to make the right decision. Please guide me."
