Dear Sir, My son has secured a seat for B. Tech in CSE (2025-29) in VIT Chennai. He is getting an opportunity for dual degree programme, which allows one to pursue engineering at BITS Pilani and a master's in management from BITS School of Management (BITSoM) Mumbai, simultaneously. Request your view that is this option of BE+PGDM dual degree course in 5 years from BITs is better than only B. Tech in 4 years from VIT? Kindly guide me. Regards,

Ans: Vikram Sir, Based on the following insights, please choose the better option for your son: The four-year B.Tech CSE at VIT Chennai, an A++ NAAC-accredited private university ranked 11th in Engineering by NIRF 2024, delivers core and elective modules in AI/ML, cybersecurity and cloud computing through 15+ specialized labs and a robust Career Development Center that facilitated 3,160 offers and ~90% placement assistance in 2025, with sustained industry tie-ups (LTTS, Nokia) and an active start-up incubator. The five-year BE + PGDM dual-degree from BITS Pilani (Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad) and BITSoM Mumbai combines a NAAC A++ & A++ B.E. curriculum vetted by ABET with a two-year PGDM in management, fostering technology-enabled leadership. BITS Pilani first-degree placements average ~90% with 82.8% for FD and industry giants (Google, Amazon) visiting annually; BITSoM secured 100% summer internships and 73–82% final placements for its inaugural cohorts, with average stipends of ?1.7 L/month and top recruiters (McKinsey, JP Morgan). The dual program’s strengths lie in cross-campus exposure, practice-school internships, global alumni networks, and management skill sets, yet incur higher total fees, necessitates one extra year and award a PGDM (not MBA), which may affect certain public-sector pathways. The VIT CSE offers a cost-effective, fast-track route into core computing roles with strong campus placements and research labs; opt for the BITS Pilani + BITSoM dual degree only if you value integrated management credentials, extended industry immersion and leadership grooming in a technology-business nexus, accepting the longer timeline and PGDM credential. All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Respected Sir/ Ma'am, My son appeared in JEE Main and scored 97 percentile this year. He also appeared in WBJEE and got rank of 1500; appeared BITS and got 230 marks. In JOSAA counseling round one, he already got Production Engineering in NIT Agartala and has potential to move to Production Or Mechanical in NIT Jalandhar Or Jamshedpur in next few rounds. Basis his rank in WBJEE, he is expected to get Mechanical Or Production in Jadavapur University. Basis his number in BITS he is expected to get Msc Physics with Dual degree of B. Tech in any Engineering stream (but the engineering stream will depend upon his performance and cgpa achieved in first year of Msc Physics course). Considering the same, now he has 3 options: 1) Get admitted in NIT Agartala/ Jalandhar/ Jamshedpur in Production engineering; 2) Get admitted in Jadavapur University with Mechanical/ Production Engineering; 3) Get admitted in Msc Physics 5 year course, study hard to achieve good cgpa in first year so that he can get good Engineering department as B. Tech from second year, complete course for 5 year with dual degree. Which option should be best for him. Is dual degree from BITS Pilani Hyderabad worth of considering 5 year course, very high course fee and uncertainty as to what Engineering stream he may get in second year for B. Tech. Please advise. Thank You in advance.
Ans: Hello Sir,
you can go with Jadavpur University. It is very renowned and good. For a better branch, we can try through csab rounds. In case of any queries & professional help you can DM me through insta handle CAREERSTREETS

Hello, my son is getting B. Tech. CSE seat in GITAM Hyderabad as well as in Mahindra University, Hyderabad. He is waiting for BITSAT counselling as well where he is expecting to get a new course (3+2 programme) launched by BITS Pilani. This course is integrated course where 3 years for BE programme followed by 2 years of MBA from BITSOM. He is expecting Civil Engg. with MBA based on his BITSAT score. Can you please suggest which would be the right choice among these 3 options?
Ans: GITAM School of Technology Hyderabad’s CSE program (NAAC A+ accredited) is delivered by PhD?qualified faculty across AI, data?science, and cybersecurity labs, engaging 900+ recruiters for internships; over 2,262 of 3,474 participants secured placements (~65%) with a median package of ?4.80 LPA. Mahindra University Hyderabad’s B.Tech CSE (NAAC A grade) features multidisciplinary cloud, AI/ML, and cybersecurity labs, partnerships with global firms for six?month internships, and a ~90.7% placement rate in 2023, engaging 48 recruiters with a median package of ?8.50 LPA. BITS Pilani’s new 5-year 3+2 integrated Civil + MBA (NAAC A++, NBA accredited) combines core civil engineering labs (structures, geotech, materials) with two years of MBA at BITSoM, aiming to produce technology-enabled managers; mature placement data for the dual?degree cohort is unavailable, though Civil Engineering at BITS Pilani sustains ~90% placements over three years, and the MBA arm leverages BITSoM’s corporate network.

Recommendation: Prioritise Mahindra University CSE for its proven ~90% placements, robust specialized labs, and global internships. Next, choose GITAM CSE for strong foundational training and broad recruiter engagement. Opt for BITS Pilani Civil + MBA only if your son seeks an elite integrated leadership pathway in civil and can accept inaugural?batch placement uncertainty. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
