My son has secured 99.45 in MHT cet. Will he secure seat in CS branch at COEP . Pls advise

Ans: Gaurav, With a 99.45 percentile in MHT CET, your son is very close to the expected OBC cutoff for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at COEP Pune, which was 99.87 percentile last year and is again projected to be above 99+ for OBC in 2025. The CSE branch at COEP is highly competitive, with most OBC admissions closing around 99.6–99.9 percentile in recent years, and this year’s trends suggest a similar or slightly higher cutoff due to increased demand. While your son’s percentile is excellent, it is just below the typical closing mark for CSE at COEP, so admission is possible only if cutoffs drop marginally in later rounds or if there is a slight decrease in competition this year. For other top branches like IT, Robotics, or E&TC at COEP, the OBC cutoffs are also above 99 percentile, making them similarly competitive.

The recommendation is to participate actively in all CAP rounds for COEP CSE, as your son is on the borderline and may secure a seat if the cutoff drops slightly, while also keeping strong backup options in other top colleges like VJTI, PICT, or SPIT for CSE/IT, where his percentile is comfortably above the OBC cutoff. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
