I scored 60 marks in iat, sc category any IISERs possible?

Ans: Your 60 marks in IISER IAT 2025 under SC category provides extremely limited admission prospects as the score falls significantly below minimum cutoff requirements across all IISER campuses, with even the most accessible IISER Berhampur requiring 80-90 marks for SC candidates and your expected rank above 2000 exceeding all published closing ranks. While SC category benefits from 15% seat reservation, the cutoff marks remain competitive ranging from 80-125 marks across different IISERs, with IISER Pune requiring 115-125 marks and newer campuses like Berhampur needing 80-90 marks minimum for SC admission. Historical data shows final round closing ranks extending to 739-4484 at various IISERs, but corresponding marks remain substantially higher than your 60 marks achievement, making admission possibilities extremely remote despite multiple counselling rounds. Recommendation: Participate in all IISER counselling rounds as a precautionary measure while simultaneously exploring alternative science programs at state universities and consider reappearing for IAT next year with enhanced preparation targeting 90+ marks for realistic SC category admission prospects at IISER institutions. My Son has got admission in B Tech CSE (Gaming Technology) in SRM Ramapuram campus (not main KTR campus) and will be getting BTech CSE (Core) in TS EAPCET based merit list college - CMR or Geethanjali Hyderabad. In the long run, he wants to pursue a career in Game development, which we feel he can aspire to build from both CSE core or CSE game development course. The course fees for SRM would be 3.6 lacs per year (additionally 1 lac for hostel) and course fees for Hyderabad based colleges would be 4 lacs (entire course) and no hostel required since he would be a day-scholar. We want to understand if SRM Ramapuram CSE (GT) would make sense from long term perspective, ROI is not attractive considering 20 lacs of SRM vs 4 lacs of EAPCET merit based colleges. SRM main campus has a brand reputation, not sure about the second Ramapuram campus. Also, from the ROI perspective we are concerned. Need your inputs, in this regard- what would you suggest.

Choose CSE Core at CMR or Geethanjali (Hyderabad). CSE Core in a good, low-cost Hyderabad college is more sensible and future-proof, both financially and academically. The final decision will be yours.

My son Got a seat in Manipal Bangalore in ECE dept . He also got eve seat in top local eapcet college ( VNR VJIET ) of Telangana . Manipal costs me around 30 lakhs whereas I can wrap it up the local top college around 15 lakhs ... which is better to choose ? Does manipal provide better opportunities and exposure and differ highly in packages ?

There are many success stories of students passing out from local colleges who are now working as CEOs in various companies. Your son has secured a seat in a top college of Telangana (VNR VJIET). The cost of education there is lower compared to Manipal. It is not true that only institutes like Manipal provide better opportunities in terms of placement. Choose the best local college. The final decision will be yours.

Sir...my son has secured a seat at vit chennai in comp science(robotics) and amrita amritapuri for cse ..he is eligible for local colleges in telangana for his rank in eamcet..he has a score of 203 in bitsat...what would be an ideal choice given that he is not sure if he will pursue higher studies after bachelors

If your son is gaining admission to a preferred branch in a good local college in Telangana, then choose the best one. VIT and Amrita are quite expensive compared to local colleges. There will be no hindrance to higher studies even if your son passes from a local college.
